I think of Ratt, Van Halen, scorpion etc when I think 80s. Plug in Definitely has a lot of classic vibes.

my benchmark is mercuriall Spark amp-sim. i think it has the best marshall tone and has that Marshall crunch/kerrang tone. I tried ML GNR yesterday, it seems that this is a bit smoother, more compressed but has less crunch/kerrang tone (hope that make some sense). so my conclusion is: for vintage marshall tone (to JCM800) i'd use Mercuriall Spark. ML GNR is a bit modern sounding, smoother. just my personal opinion.

You can also turn off the cab section and run the output of your audio interface into the power section of an amp into a cab, but that sort of defeats the purpose of plugins, which is the ease of use for recording and playing directly through a computer.

Well, GNR music is mixed well, so the sound is massive. But if u listen to the isolated guitar tracks, they're really not that fat sounding. BUT the most important thing is that it works brilliantly in the mix.

The most overrated album in history from the most overrated band in history with the most overrated guitarist in history. And they weren't even together long enough for most people to even see them Live in the 80s or 90s. The first "80s" guitar tone that comes to mind when thinking about the 80s is Van Halen Van Halen Van Halen! Thats what most 80s references get wrong or miss these days. Van Halen was huge. However, I understand the movement toward digital and computer generated sounds…. Much more efficient…. These days you can travel with a guitar and a computer, plug into a house sound system and leave the bulky amps and pedalboards at home and sound in the ballpark of good…. Understandable
