I'm in Georgia. I know what you mean: the durned video is partly filmed at the studio I could walk to from my Mamma's house. And Wa Wees is not far from my parents either. You have to drive past it every time you go to Lafayette the "back way."
It’s a video journey which, no matter how many viewers/listeners it will ever have, will never have enough.
I am a cajun who grew up in the Louisiana bayou culture, and except for the old cajun and zydeco heroes of mine, these guys are the best. Man, they had Scar Jo, Dr. John (look him up...he's a legend), and Gordon Gano, lead of the Violent Femmes (whom I love). They are incredible. I have listened to them for a while. If you like this, check out their cover of "My Generation" (for any millennials, put down your selfie stick and actually look it up...I have millennials, so I can say that). :P Any haters, give me your reasons, and if you have a good enough reason, I will concede it is not for you. For all of you with an open mind who didn't hear this growing up or during once a year Mari Gras or New Orleans Jazz Fest, witness the revival of this bit of history. Also, they have been in movies....check IMDB. They are bringing to the forefront music most people don't know about. I (obviously) can't say enough. Any other Cajuns or Creoles like this? Reply if you like. Kinda hard to catch it having to live in Texas most of the year. My husband and I miss home, obviously, from my running on and on. ;)
I saw them do "My Generation" at Jazzfest the first time I saw them, and they blew me awayl I've been a regular fan ever since and my ONLY regret is I wished they covered "My Generation" the same year that the Who closed Jazzfest. Even though the Fai-Do-Do stage is a ways away from the Acura stage, it would have been a wonderful statement\challenge to the Who to top this awesome Cajun Band from Carencro.
Their music is some of the most creative and innovative being written in America today and I heartily endorse everyone to give them a listen. I've marvelled how their music has evolved over the last 10 years. Catch them if you can!!!

It is French... with a little bit of twist but it's all in Louisiana French like Prairie Femme said. It's amazing that, after so many generations (after 1755, Le Grand Dérangement), people do speak French in Louisiana... The Michot family is a great example.

In the meantime, in 1789, you had a revolution that, among other things, fundamentally changed the way your language is expected to be pronounced and replaced much of its vocabulary. How reasonable would it be, in 2013, to expect the descendants of those people who left over 400 years ago, to speak like you?

But it still is a wonderful, musical language and I hope the world can enjoy it.

Can anyone explain the hand gesture with thumb and forefinger that both scarlet and louie make? I'd really like to knw the meaning!
I'm from about six miles west of that hwy 31 sign. when me and my boys did that gesture it meant I'm out, see you later, I'm out of here, catch you later etc. I strongly believe that's what it meant....could be wrong though.
It refers to the words of the song. "Plus Haut" means further up. "Monte plus haut de le couteau" means climb further up the ridge.
Where can I find this version? It's not the same version on the album...
