"Mason Jar Music Presents" is a video concert series inspired by the peacefulness and tranquility of the old buildings that continue to dot New York City's 21st-century landscape. These productions provide a setting and space for fresh, unique music with compelling arrangements that breathe new life into each song.
Each episode is dreamed up and brought to life wholly by the Mason Jar Music team. Songs are carefully selected from the artist's repertoire and re-imagined with arrangements for strings, woodwinds and other assorted orchestral colors.
My friend used to get drunk grab a guitar and play their music. A year ago today he didn’t see no way but out and took his life. I wish he realized he was the luckiest man in so many ways. Love you Kenny. I hope you found the peace you were looking for.
RIP
It is never easy.. What's sad is I understand where he was.
i'M so SORRY
Hey man, I know how you feel, I shed tears everytime for the same reason.
Sorry brother
I'm starting to believe that if a band's title has "Brothers" in it and is under the folk genre, they are probably really good.
savvysunshineee check out the brothers comatose
savvysunshineee Punch brothers too!
I went to like this comment and apparently had already done so once before lol.
Avett Brothers.
savvysunshineee good outlook
I just lost my 3rd brother, now it is just me, this song says it all, I was the "Luckiest Man" to be raised with such fine brothers, such is the tale of the tape for Vietnam, we all participated, and the price must be paid, GOD BLESS MY BROTHERS, WE WILL SEE EACH OTHER AGAIN ! Thank YOU Wood Brothers for this song, it warms my heart !
Cheers to you and your brothers
I think your brothers are okay. I was listening to this and I decided to scroll through the comments while also looking at the change from my pocket(something I don't do) I read your comment and was immediately emotional and looked down at the coin in my hand.
misprint
two eagles.
no shit
I'm serious.
I debated telling you because it was so friggin weird.
I'm sorry if it was offensive or too evocative.
thank you and your brothers for your sacrifices.
were gonna be okay.
We walk the path destined for our feet to trod. I too have question why I am spared from the trauma taking my life. I was never a soldier in combat, but have suffered trauma and survived. I know survivor’s guilt can weigh a spirit down. However, never lose sight of your gratitude and faithfulness. Blessed be brother. Your brothers’ spirits soar and are immortal 🌍🌬🌊🔥
I hope you're ok. I saw this and was sad. I can see how sad this is, and this touched me a lot thinking how alone you feel. I came through isolation, so this struck me as i look through sites alone too. God bless your precious heart. I'm soooo sorry. Very sad, to hear of your wonderful amazimg brothers, as we get older out here. God sees more than we know, i feel. Hope we all get through in love as it should be and figure this year out together...Many are finishing up for our end of age. I feel all of us are putting large weights off our shoulders, and it's been quite a life to get light shinning at this finish, we've lost ssh o many to have and keep our rights. We will make them glad we are not giving our rights they kept, for us, up..... ❤ This is seemingly getting tougher but we will stand for the rights all came here to have. Much peace to you and them for making us free, and we are going to be keeping our freedom, here. It's a tougher road for us left to finish up. It's all coming to a head out here soon. Much love sent to you all, for soooooo much strength to us, to keep going for our rights....❤❤ ❤
My Aunt played this song at her sons funnel. The bottom of his grave says luckiest man. Every time I hear this song I cry like a baby.
+mommatokaylee Funeral
+mommatokaylee now you've got me crying
+mommatokaylee damn thats pretty sad
I feel bad for u my 11 friend killed himself last year
Me, too.
Just saw the Wood Brothers on the beach of the Jersey shore under the full moon. Best concert ever.
This may be the best song I have ever heard. Neil Young good.
rasafrasahassenfrat This is in the top ten now. Working into the top 5. Heart of Gold good. City of New Orleans good. Not only is it a good song, the whole package is done well. Life long fan created.
+rasafrasahassenfrat An amazing song. Definitely underrated
Jordan Balzer The Wood Bros. kill it. I would love to see someone else take it to the next level.
rasafrasahassenfrat have you heard their new album?
+rasafrasahassenfrat You should see them live, they KICK!
This song honestly helped me out of a dark place recently. I won’t go into the details, but I felt like giving up was the only thing I had strength left to do. Listening to this song, encouraged me to think of the problems in my life other people might even say I was “lucky” to have.
I played this to myself so many times while going through a divorce and fighting for time w my boys. Here I am 13 years later, viking with the Brothers
Rip Desiree beck we loved this song and I’ll forever remember our times together holding each other and loving each other so much like there was never another bad health scare until it was too much and I lost you I love you ❤️
I almost killed a dude on a motorcycle today, we were on a back country road and he was going 130 mph coming over a small hill I was in a wide Van, he missed me by less than 6 inches... this is not for him, although it makes more sense that way, this song is too good, this song is for me
That's insightful.. seriously
Lol. I almost ran a motorcyclist over with a loaded gooseneck once when he tried to pass me in the right turn lane when I was turning right into that lane. I had to pull over and take a breather. I thought for sure I was going to have killed a man. He pulled over too to make sure everything was ok. We hugged and went back to getting it.
This song helped me get through the loss of my son. Beautiful music, powerful song.
Mike Howe (RIP) Sent me here. He loves your Band. I am digging it too🤘
This is my favorite song. Not my favorite Wood Brothers song, not my favorite folk song. My favorite song. Period.
😍🤯That’s an incredable diddy no doubt. SO much heart n’ soul in it
Running is useless
Fighting is foolish
I can't be the onlt one who hears just a hint of the Pixie's Where is my mind (especially the trampled by turtles version) in this? Fantastic tune, favorited.
Definitely, same chords for part of it. Dope song
Definitely
Ronald Colman I was hearing more “say it ain’t so”
This, where is my mind, and say it ain't so, are all based around the same or very similar guitar chord progression.
I definitely agree!
It's not just the lyrics, not just the music or the raspy vocals. It's the entire acoustic package.
Does anyone else here Weezer's "say it ain't so"
Yes sir it is the same chord progression
Same chords
My 8 year old son LOVES this song...Everytime listen to this my heart melts...we love you ii😘
good work guys!....it's rare to hear well written music, with good lyrics....cheers
The bass solo 👌🏻🤌🏻
The Stand up bass is insane good. This version of the song it is 'mic'd up loud. You can hardly hear it on most of their songs. PLEASE pump the bass
Raw an beautiful - The Wood Brothers are a national treasure.
Totally agree
Who came here for weezer but stuck around for a great grass roots song?
I love this song 💗🍀 I have listened to this song multiple times, and I think this song speaks to gratitude and contentment.
hearing a bit of Van Morrison in this!
Just seen these guys in Michigan. Shook hands. They are the best in every way!!
One word for these guys: AWESOME!
"I don't talk to the devil when he calls my name
But sometimes when I'm losing it all seems the same
And when I fall I'm back up again
Just to slip on the same mistakes and slide right back in."
That verse says it all
This band is performing in PA this weekend. Road trip from long island NY
bryan wizz just saw this reply now. Are they still performing this weekend?
Love it that these guys did it in a stairwell and used those acoustics for this recording. It's hard to express how much I like this song.
I saw the wood brothers live like 2 years ago in Minneapolis opening for G. Love. Best opening act I've ever seen. Can't go wrong with that upright bass.
I heard you, for the first time, singing this recently at the Philadelphia Folk Festival ... I stood mesmerized by the truth of this poignant, simple message coming up the hill to me in the darkness ... so true to life's epic quest for joy. Thank you for it, and for delivering it so well. For I am indeed one of those luckiest men, and it was nice to hear that sung!

Somebodies Heine is Crowding my icebox,
Somebodies cold one is giving me chills, guess I'll just close my eyes
Cause I'm the luckiest man
And you'll ask yourself
Where is my mind?
Where is my mind?
Where is my mind?
Way out in the water
See it swimming
Makes a great mashup at acoustic shows :)
Say it ain't so
Your drug is a heartbreaker
Say it ain't so
My love is a life taker
Jmainguy yup
Exactly
Only so many chords and intervals out there.
I don't hear that at all
Fox Theater staff in Oakland love you guys. Keep coming and I’ll keep working for free just to listen from the balcony
My whole Saturday and Sunday too
I was thinking about ways not to lose
I lay down my weapons is what I've done
Too late to hide, feet too soft to run
But people say I'm the luckiest man
Yeah they say
Running is useless and fighting is foolish
You're not gonna win but still you're the luckiest man you're up against
And too many horses and mysterious forces
What you don't know is you are the luckiest man
You're the luckiest man
I done talked to the devil when he calls my name
But sometimes when I'm losing it all seems the same
And when I fall I'm back up again
Just to slip on the same mistakes and slide right back in
But people say I'm the luckiest man
Yeah they say
Running is useless and fighting is foolish
You're not gonna win but still you're the luckiest man you're up against
And too many horses and mysterious forces
What you don't know is you are the luckiest man
You're the luckiest man
Try to keep my faith and keep my mind
Hate to lose either one when the whip cracks behind
And I can't help but mourning just a little each night
People say everything is gonna be all right
They say I'm the luckiest man
Yeah they say
That running is useless and fighting is foolish
You're not gonna win but still you're the luckiest man you're up against
And too many horses and mysterious forces
What you don't know is you are the luckiest man
You're the luckiest man
You're the luckiest man
So sad when a loved one chooses a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Dial 988 for national crisis hotline.
Such a beautiful song. Brings me back to the simpler days. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
A throw back to another time. A place in time to be in. Glad I stumbled onto these guys. My lucky week for discovering new sounds. This makes me the "luckiest woman"...** Smiles**
at 2:28 a big glop of spit flies out of Chris woods mouth and its funny cause its like its happening in slow motion. He sees it and watches it fall to the ground, hopefully it didn't hit his bro. & then you can just read his face he's thinkin fuck did that happen. lol
Say it Ain't Sooooooooooooooo
This song touches my soul
thought he was about to start playing where is my mind
I onced rented an apartment from a man by the name of Wood. He and his brother used to get into fights and sing at one another to settle their disputes. Although i no longer live in his apartment, the memory of those times lives on in my mind, i can remember their songs. As a child, i couldnt imagine this would one day be the csse. Also, this is a really good song.
378 ppl don't know what music is.
This will play at my wedding 😬🙏
The chord progression reminded me of "say it ain't so" by Weezer
Yes came here looking for this exact comment. It is the exact same progression but it is played a whole step up
Great song!! Saw them last night in Knoxville TN!! Great show, I enjoyed it more than Trampled by Turtles... which I never thought would be possible!!
Wow thats a tough one....It's hard to compare...
Man those bass solo's get me every time.
You guys ever hear say it ain't so by weezer?
Music or being great in general does not have anything to do with coming in first, let's face it; that is just impossible in music :) I'm sure we are all proud for knowing progressions and lyrics to favorite songs, but these gentlemen are true artists with real passion. Thank you Wood Brothers, you inspire me to pick up my old Yamaha and sing from my belly!
Love this song 👍🏻. Acoustic version is the best I've heard.
Interesting.
This is the exact same chord progression as Where is My Mind - Pixes except it starts on C#m instead of E and is play a half step up.
Now this is music...
Great song. The chord progression sounds the same as Weezer's "Say It Ain't So".
Love this song those Chords get me .. the echo and acoustics of the hallway .. awesome thanks wood bros.
Weird how I don't like this song but it sounds so much better this way
See this band live. You will utter the term, "flawless" or "musical perfection" repeatedly.
Weezer - Say it Ain't So. copied their song rift but made it sound lame
Too many horses and mysterious forces, that sh!t hit me hard
my favorite Wood Bro's song. I have saw them in concert once they put on a phenomenal show.
I crashed my car to this song 3 weeks ago... and I just have to laugh it off. Perfect tune for my life events
My niece played this at my aunts wedding reception where the groom died who's best friend had just lost his wife and two children in front of the rest of his family before he found out his dog had cancer.
Axs TV were I found woods brother. On TV been listen to them every. Since 2012
Dude needs a beard so he doesn't look like my English teacher so much.
More like The Label "shared" it.......#musicindustryisafickleplace
Great song...did anyone else notice the large wad of spit shoot out of the bass players mouth at 2:28?
That bass is COOKING son - love this song and this band.. jeez
SAY IT AINT SOOOOOOOOOO
Beautiful song and killin bass playing. Chris' phrasing is so sexy. Does this song remind anyone else of Tupelo Honey?
Simply brilliant...the playing, the feeling, the song. Spectacular.
I never understood those who put the effort into putting down or comparing music...if it's not for you, you can not listen, no?
Yes
Monster bassist
I understand the choice, I'm glad I failed. It was my best failure
WOW! I mean WOW! I know what I am listening to for the next forever.

Oh man!!!! Was für ein wunderschönes Stück!!!!
@clguitar70 check out our channel for more great organic performances.
I learned the version of Sitting On Top Of The World I do from Oliver at Neverland Farms in 2003. This song is my daughter’s favorite. Hey Oliver…Your Bobby Loves you.
Anyone know what the tuning hes doing on this particul live version hes in? I cant seem to
so pretty it makes my heart hurt.
Not bad my ass..... You guys are so great. I've been photographing bands for over 10 years now. Shot over 100 or so. You're one of my favorites. Saw you open for Zach, but would love to shoot some photos for ya! Keep it up.
Instead of the bass it feels like he's playing the lump in your throat
these guys were awesome at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in sf last weekend..favorite set
them and the avett brothers need to go on tour together
Fuck yes they do. 🤗
Texture and delivery is more important than the words, too. See: "boogie chillun"
Interesting to see all the different ways people relate to this song. For me, hearing or playing this tune always makes me think of Roland Deschain, Gilead, Gunslingers and The Dark Tower.
I've been a fan of Oliver's since his King Johnson days. His talent, skills and ethics as a musician are beyond reproach and his catalog of originals run deep. Artists of this caliber do not spend their time ripping off the music industry. They spend their time promoting it and keeping it alive. So....would you wanna-be Weezer police kindly respect our right to listen to any damned tune we please in peace? Not interested in your unsubstantiated allegations, biased opinions or your butt-hurt feelings. All your whining only serves to drive weezers reputation further into the dirt.
47 Folks that have no clue...
Anyone into brothers playing music check us out.
A GREAT friend just sent me this & WOW!!! That is so awesome that I was rocketed back to my first listen to James Taylor's album Mud Slide Slim & The Blue Horizon Band . . . (in other words) WWWWOOOOOWWWWWW!!!!!!!!! EXCELLENT!
How do I want to support the Woods bros & hear their awesomeness without subscribing to anything?
Jenni Kosinski just buy copies of their albums
I listen to this song several times a week. I believe you. Can't say that about allot of people anymore.
How bout that stand up bass ....damn doods killing that thing
I can't stop singing and playing this song. A really good one!
The first time I saw them they were covering Michel Jackson's PYT. ( Pretty Youg Thing ) On "The A.V. Club. They even impressed me then and now I will have to become a fan!
This song resonates with me deeply. Through grief, heartbreak, depression, I know I’m one of the lucky ones because I have such a huge and loving support system. And also to have lived and loved and lost is to better to have never lived or loved at all. Not gonna win, but I’m the luckiest woman. Please come to Reno/Sparks, NV. I saw you play at hardly strictly and then Lagunitas. Great shows.
Good to be Lucky...Lucky to be Good....Shout out to....Sherry Lucky.....
This is a Weezer song.
Wait. Is it really? I’ve been a fan of Weezer for 20+ years. Have seen them live as well as The Wood Brothers. Seen them play this song in person. I had no idea.
beautiful.
