Thank you, Lora, for recommending this for gift giving. I hadn't held a crochet hook for 50-some years, so it took a while to find my rhythm, and my arthritic hands had quite a workout. The rugs came out beautifully. They'll go very nicely in my daughter and son-n-law's new bathroom. I'll never again buy Ralph Lauren, Martha Stewart and Vera Wang rugs, now that I know I can make my own!
HolyMoly I just got goosebumps reading your words Kathryn! If there was ever a reason we make these videos it is THAT! Preserving this beautiful & amazing craft of rug-making! Warms my heart knowing the videos touch souls like yours & hopefully generations after us! Our Grandmothers would be proud of us!!
I have been searching everywhere for the correct materials to make a similar style of rug and this video showed me another great way to make what I was picturing! Thank you so much!
I made 2 of these a couple of years ago. But they are blue, I want to get some beige and make some as gifts and for myself. Love it and as you said they wash so easy. Love it, thank you so much, you are a good teacher also!! 😊
I just came across your video and I fell in love with your project! I love the way you teach (show and tell). Easy to follow instructions. I will definitely share with my daughter and granddaughter and we can have a crochet party! Thank you for sharing, be blessed. Newest follower😉
Just found you here on utube. Love this rug. I went 5o hobby lobby bought for 2 rugs to go in front of our reclining chairs in our bed room. So excited to make more of your rugs..😊

Now we are talking! $9.99 with a 40% off coupon? Happy to find a truly affordable way to make some rugs. I'll order a Q hook very shortly. Thank you kindly, Ms. Lora!!
Thank you so much for this instructional video. You are a wonderful teacher! Your reminders all the way through the video are so very helpful, especially the reminders about the "pinky finger" space and the extra chain at the end of each row on a regular basis. I am excited to make this rug and am looking forward to following you in the future for more projects.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching your video whilst I followed your easy steps . As I followed along with my ball of wool and crochet hook. Ah, memories of being a young child enjoying doing knitting and crocheting. Thank you from the UK (London)
Wonderful! Thank you for reaching out Leota! Me too! Grandma taught me to knit & crochet when I was just 4 while my little sister was in the hospital. I'm not much into knitting, but I sure do love crochet!
You're very welcome! Thank YOU for watching! If you struggle to find them at Hobby Lobby, we have 16 different colors (including Lamb's Wool) in our web store! We would appreciate your business! Here's a link! www.ragstorugs-bylora.com/ Hope you'll visit us!
Excellent video & instructions! Very easy to follow. Thank you Lora! Hopefully I will start one soon as I have lots of this poly chord. I’m excited because you have made it so easy!
I really like the looks of this rug I hope to try it soon. I had a difficult time seeing your stitches. Since I’m not adept at crocheting I needed to see the stitch up close a few times. I think I know what you did but I still had a question especially when you added the jute! I love the finished rug. Thank you for sharing your experience

Good morning Laura I am so excited about this rug I can't wait to make it I was wondering if you could tell me and I believe I'm probably right but I want to make sure by asking you if I can do this with fabric?
Hello!! I'm excited FOR you! And guess what!! You can get everything from our store! Rags to Rugs! We sell the Bonnie Craft Cord - 16 colors, Fabric Rolls - also 16 colors, Hooks & Toothbrush Needles - EVERYTHING!! Here's a link for you to the website! www.ragstorugs-bylora.com/
Thank you for the feedback! We strive with every video to improve & feedback is important to us. Hope you'll stay in touch! Have fun creating your rug!
Hello, Sandi! SO happy you reached out! When using the Bonnie Craft Cord, you will simply cut the cord leaving about a 9" tail. Select the color you would like to transition to and tie a loose knot. The same way you add a new roll of cord. Continue on with that color for your desired rows. And repeat the process when you decide to return to the original color (or any color for that matter)! At the end of your project and once your rug reaches the desired size, you will weave in those tails. A latch hook works really well for this, or you can use your crochet hook!
Hello, Denise! Try this link for Hobby Lobby. It should work just fine! Good Luck!! www.hobbylobby.com/Crafts-Hobbies/Basic-Crafts/Macrame/Lamb's-Wool-Bonnie-Braided-Macrame-Craft-Cord---6mm/p/28273
Thank you for the video. I have a question about weaving in the ends. I understand when you do six stitches one way and then six stitches the other way. When you do the third set of six stitches are you still in the same row or have you moved over a row? It's hard to tell from the video. Thanks for your help.
Great question! It really doesn't matter! Your goal is securing the tail so that it doesn't "wiggle" out over time. 4, 5, 6 - the number of stitches doesn't matter so much. The direction matters the most. Weaving them back & forth helps them to stay put! LOL You choose which stitches & on what row - no biggie - as long as they are woven in!
I notice on the link for coed the color skeins are on 2 m instead of 6. Can a rug be made from them and would it have the same number of stitches across or would it be tripled?
Hello, Marcy! Thank you for reaching out! I'm not sure I understand your question however. "Coed the color skeins are on 2m"? I'm guessing you MIGHT? be referring to the 3ply Jute Twine I used on the border of the rug? If so, I suppose you could triple it to make a rug? But instead you might consider making a rug from a 6 ply Jute! The jute comes on large cones and wonderful to work with! No tripling of skeins! Just feed it off & crochet your rug! Here's a link to our website & many jute rugs I've made! ragstorugs-bylora.com/category_47/JUTE-RUGS.php
HI I love to know the crochet hook what size of the crochets hook the jumbo crochet hook and the smaller size hook thankyou very much have a nice day god bless you 😊🙏
Thank you for asking, Linda-Mary! We used a "Q" (16mm) crochet hook for the rug. And for the twine border we used an "L" (8mm). I wish you a WONDERFUL journey crocheting rugs! Blessing to you!! You can find them both here! >> ragstorugs-bylora.com/SHOP.php?category=58
I love this rug and have tried it a couple times, but cannot be sure that I am following the instructions exactly as you are doing it. Is there a pattern somewhere or is it simply continuous single crochet? That will tell me a lot! Thanks!
Hello!! Happy you've reached out! I love teaching this rug pattern - with Bonnie Craft Cord, Jute & with Fabric because it's a great way to practice the single crochet stitch! The most important advise is to always remind yourself to add a chain before turning your work & crocheting in each of your stitches the opposite direction. Beyond that, YES!, it's a single crochet stitch throughout the entire rug! A wonderful introduction to crochet & an opportunity to practice your stitches! Please watch the video again! Hoping you'll try it a 3rd time!! Stay in touch okay!?
Hello Lora. Can you please tell me what color you used? I am from South Africa. Took me a while but now I found a place where I can buy the Bonnie craft coard. Greetings Willy
Good Morning, Willy! So happy you've reached out! The Bonnie Craft Cord color I chose to use for this video was "Lamb's Wool"! My favorite of the 18 colors we stock. Hope you'll stay in touch!!
Hello Lora. Thank you for your answer. I understand that you are selling the craft coard are you also shipping over seas? To South Africa? Greetings Willy
Hello!! Sure thing! I crocheted this rug at a 1" gauge. The finished rug measures 24x36". I started with 24 foundational chains & completed 36 rows. If your stitch gauge is tighter or looser than mine, it will have an affect on the overall size of your rug. Here's a video that can help you determine your gauge! th-cam.com/video/-mz22GJfJuo/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching & reaching out!
Hola Lora, es preciosa la alfombra, te escribo de Argentina, nueva suscriptora, que diámetro o calibre sería la aguja en cm o milímetros, hay muchos números aqui en mi pais, podrías decirme? Me encanta tu trabajo Gracias!
Translation: "Hello Lora, the rug is beautiful, I am writing to you from Argentina, new subscriber, what diameter or caliber would the needle be in cm or millimeters, there are many numbers here in my country, could you tell me? I love your job Thank you!" Hello, Marcela! Thank you so much! I am using a 16mm crochet hook for this rug. The Cord is 6mm and each skein is 90 meters. Please stay in touch, okay? ¡Hola Marcela! ¡Muchas gracias! Estoy usando un ganchillo de 16 mm para esta alfombra. El Cordón es de 6mm y cada ovillo mide 90 metros. Por favor mantente en contacto, ¿vale?
One additional question: The cord is polyester and I'm assuming the jute is not. Does it wash as well as the body of the rug? Any issues with washing the Jute twine?
You are correct! Our Bonnie Craft Cord is a polyester product. In the video, I used a 3mm jute twine (non-polyester) for the sweet edge. It will hold up BEAUTIFULLY when machine washing your rug!! I remember thinking with the first rug I crocheted, "I wonder how this edge will hold up!" Boy, have I been pleasantly surprised! Repeated washings & it looks as good as the body of the rug! Thank you for asking!!
Hello, Diane! Happy you've reached out. The chain is to allow you to make the turn. You will then insert your hook into the first stitch. You might get into the habit initially of counting your stitches to assure you haven't dropped or added one by mistake. I've made thousands of rugs & yet I still do this from time-to-time. Particularly on my rectangular rugs. Hope that helps! Please don't hesitate to reach out with any additional questions! Always here for you!
Hi Lora, you just mentioned, you never machine wash your crocheted rugs. Tell me please how you clean them? I use cotton sheets to make my rugs.thank you
Good Morning, Cecile! Good to hear from you! It is true that I would never recommend MACHINE washing my crocheted rugs. I prefer hand washing them & normally in my bathtub (most of the time) or in a wash basin/sink! I will fill the tub with warm water & using a mild detergent allow the rug to soak for a while. Then (now don't laugh), I roll up my pant legs, and step on the rug forcing the warm sudsy water through the fiber. I will then rinse a few times being certain to remove all soap. Remove plug and allow the rug to drain. Then I roll it in a terry towel sometimes stepping on again to remove excess water. I will then find a place outside if possible to lay FLAT to dry - usually my deck but sometimes a driveway or sidewalk - stretch just a bit to shape. Allow to dry & spray lightly with Scothguard to protect the fiber from stains, debris & spills! Here's a good video you might enjoy! Rug Tip #6 > > > th-cam.com/video/UMu-zS3gwek/w-d-xo.html
I love this. New subscriber to your channel! Your voice is so soothing! One question, is is slippery on hardwood or laminate? If so what is good to use underneath? Thank you for this beautiful tutorial! I ordered 6 skeins off Amazon! It will be here Friday. I got the white and the beige color! Along with the crochet hook! I already have the twine! I will be making these for Christmas presents!
Hello, AmyBeth! Thank you for taking a minute to write! I'm excited for you - these are SO much fun to make! My rug (the rug in the video) in front of my kitchen sink is on a laminate flooring. It does move but it doesn't slip. Does that make sense? They are heavier rugs so they "stay put" a lot better then our fabric rugs. My Mother is 87 and loves hers & she doesn't fear slipping on it.
@@judymcintire7095 I really don't. :/ I really don't like rug backings. They tend to jar the rug forcing more accidents then they prevent. AND, sadly they can discolor your flooring. You can purchase a non-skid latex rug backing & "paint" it on the back of your rug. I prefer it WAY more then the cut to fit rug backings. Here's a link to another video that I discuss it. Not sure which # it is though! Lots of great tips in this video! >>> th-cam.com/video/UMu-zS3gwek/w-d-xo.html

Awesome ! How many yards are in each skein of cord ? When ordering I have a choice of 50 yards or 100 yards . I’m assuming if I need 3 skeins, it would be 100 yards per skein for a 24x36 rug .
Hello, Vinnie! I may be wrong but I believe the 6mm only comes in 100 yards. You will need 2 1/2 skeins to complete a 24x36" rectangular rug. The color I used in the video was "Lamb's Wool" - $9.99 @ Hobby Lobby! Here's a quick link: www.hobbylobby.com/.../Lamb's-Wool-Bonnie.../p/28273
Can we make the complete rug with 3mm jute only? I want to make a large runner about 2ft by 12ft. Can you suggest approx how much jute would be needed?
Hello, Zaeema! I have no doubt you can use 3mm jute to create the rug, but I've never used that size unfortunately. For that reason, it would be hard for me to answer your question. So sorry! I would love to see your runner when you complete it & if you could share the amount of 3mm jute you ended up using that would be awesome so that others might learn from your efforts! THANK YOU!!
With regard to my last question… I was referring to adding a colored jute edge to frame it… Will that fade or run on the white. Also, which color of white did you use? Ivory or white?
Hello! Thanks for reaching out! Are you referring to a 6 ply Jute or a Jute TWINE? Big difference. You can absolutely dye both - I've done it many times. I simply used RIT dye in a bath of boiling water stovetop, rinse well & hang to dry. I've never actually found 6 ply jute/6mm in colors others than natural, so it likely will require dying it if that's the option to decide to go with. As far as running or fading, I can't really answer that. Not sure! I used mine for an Americana flag I crocheted & it never required washing as it was hung on my wall. I never experienced issues with either. I used a Bonnie Craft Cord for the rug in the video - "Lamb's Wool". We sell it & 17 different colors in our web store. Most likely you can find one you really like for the border. I used a 3mm jute twine for the border in the video. Bonnie Craft Cord doesn't run or fade and is VERY durable! Here's a link to our web store if you'd like to see all the colors we have. We also sell the 6 ply Jute too!! Happy Shopping!! www.ragstorugs-bylora.com/
Yes you can! You'll find however, that working with the "Bonnie Craft Cord" that I used in this video, a 16mm ("Q") sized hook will work better to grab the cord. We have them available from our website - both in hand-crafted wood hooks or "Susan Bates" plastic. Here's a link! www.ragstorugs-bylora.com/ Thank you for reaching out! Hope your day is AMAZING!!
Hi thanks for your reply! I had a a few typos. The color cord comes in 2 mm you used 6 mm when makeing this rug would the rows be the same, 24 sc to start it or would it take more sc like maybe 30 sc because it's thinner cord. Or would I just use a bigger crochet hook?
Hello, again! Yes the cord comes in 3 different sizes. If using the 2mm size, I would adjust down to a P hook. Simply chain until you reach the width of your desired rug, table runner or placemat. You will determine that # by the size rug you set out to crochet. Once you reach that width, chain one more & turn. Crochet across the original chains until reaching the other end. Always remembering to chain one to turn. Continue on until you reach the desired length! EasyPeasy!!
I'd like to try this! I'm not familiar with cord. I'm not sure if I would have a problem with my hands with the thickness of the cord. Is the 6mm hard to work with? By going to a 4mm or 2mm does that mean it is smaller in width or does that just mean the length of the roll? Thank you
Hello, Beverly! Yes, 6mm is the thickness of the cord. It has nothing to do with the length of the cord. 6 mm is ideal with a "Q" sized hook as I used in the video! I have used 4mm & 2mm for coasters & trivets! The cord is VERY easy on your hands. I have some arthritis and working with it was not a challenge at all. Hope that helps!
Hello, Elaine!! So happy you reached out (sorry for slow response). We don't really have a pattern per se for the rectangular rug given it's simply a back & forth crochet project. To start, crochet your starting chains. Measure to be certain it's the width you want for your rug. I crochet at a 1" gauge so to crochet a 24x36" rug, I will start with 24 stitches, and then add one more to make my turn. Next, you will complete one single crochet in each of your chains. When you reach the end, be certain to, again, add a stitch to make your turn. Back & Forth you go until you reach your desired length. At 1" gauge, I will complete 36 rows. For this size, you will use 2 1/2 Bonnie Craft Cord. 5 rolls is therefore enough to complete (2) beautiful 24x36" rugs! YAY! Hope that helps!!
I’ve a question in regards to the runner spool you used on one of your videos to make the 18” x 24” oval rug. Where do yo find continuous runner spools?
Hello, Sharon! We sell those rolls! Broadcloth solid fabric rolls. We are nearly out however (as of todays date). Working with our manufacturer to get another order placed. Post-Covid fabric prices have sky-rocketed. Trying to negotiate a good price with them. Stay in touch, Okay? Here's a link to the few we have remaining: ragstorugs-bylora.com/category_57/FABRIC.php
Good Question, Betty! I have made these in oval, round & rectangular! Not sure however, about the scalloped border. I would guess it would work well!! It's a very pliable cord. SO easy to work with. And it comes in 28 colors and 3 weights!!
@@bettytarver2441 Oh I'm sorry! I thought you were referring to the cord I used in the video. I'm sure you could use jute (instead of twine?) on the borders of oval & round rugs.
Hello, Yvonne! GREAT question! The "Bonnie Craft Cord" that I used in this video is made from a "polypropylene" fiber. In my experiences comparing it to an acrylic fiber - 1 - they are both very durable & come in MANY colors. 2 - The reason I prefer the poly fiber over the acrylic for our RUGS is that the poly fiber actually whisks AWAY moisture whereas the acrylic fiber RETAINS it. The same if you were to crochet a sweater, as an example, out of the acrylic yarn. On a rainy day, the sweater would likely absorb the rain! The rug in the video is still in front of my kitchen sink after nearly 4 years of wear & still looks amazing after washing it 2-3 times a month! Moisture & dirt & food particles don't penetrate the fiber so washing them (in a washing machine!) it all just disappears!! Hope you'll stay in touch! Happy rug-making!!
Hi, If I wish to make this rug in different measurement for example: 23" by 60" how many bundles of bonnie craft cord do I need? Your reply will be appreciated 🙂
Hello! The best I can do is approximate for you. I've only made 24x36 - MANY of them! If it were me I would plan on 5 rolls? - possibly part of a 6th. Start with 23 chains, add 1 to turn followed by 60 rows to achieve that size! Have fun! Happy New Year!!
Hello, Karen! I only know the product as "Bonnie Craft Cord". I've not seen it at our local hardware store, but I suppose some other stores MAY? carry it. Not sure. Sorry!
We live in a small community in the middle of nowhere. The next sort of large town is 17 miles away. The next large city is about an hour away. Do you put the nonstick product on the back of this rug?
@@karenforte5674 Go to the Hobby Lobby website! You can not only order online but many times they promote free shipping too! I haven't tried the non-stick latex rug backing on this product, so can't answer that. Sorry! If you decide to try, please let me know your findings!!
Nice tutorial! I crocheted a rectangular rug with fabric strips and ended up with a trigger thumb. 7 months after having a cortisone injection the trigger thumb came back, ugh!
To stop trigger fingers you have to do exercises with your hand to stretch the tendons a good way is going in TH-cam and find a way to get them otherwise surgery will fix it.
Hello, Brenda! Thank you for the tip! I'll try harder in future videos to get more up close! I'm like you, I really need to SEE the work to understand!

Do you have to do anything to the ends of the rope so it doesn’t fray? Love this rug. I wish we could see the stitches closer as you are doing the work.
Hello, Karen! This product frays minimally. Another BIG plus for it! It's truly an amazing product! Doubtful you'll need to be concerned with fraying. However, if fraying is a concern of yours, you might consider a product called "Stop Fraying" by Aleene's. It prevents fabrics and trims from fraying & unraveling. I've used it a number of times successfully. You can buy it in a small 2 oz. bottle - a little goes a LONG way!! Hope this helps!
Surprisingly, it doesn't slip on my laminate flooring. It moves a bit, but we haven't had any issues with slipping. In fact, the nursing home where my Mother lives approved the rug for in front of her sink! YAY! YES!! The cord comes in 28 total colors!! The color we used was "Lambs Wool" - a beautiful off white. But there are 27 other beautiful colors to choose from!
Hello, Kathy! Surprisingly, yes it IS!! I fully expected to have to replace the trim after a washing or two. But I have now washed the rug (in the video) that is in front of my kitchen sink MANY times and the rug & the trim look as good as new. I'm starting a turquoise one now for my guest bath! So beautiful!!
You sure can Lisa! Bonnie Craft Cord comes in 2mm, 4mm & the 6mm that I used in the demonstration. A "Q" sized hook is ideal with the 6mm; you will want to size down your hook for the 2mm, and of course many more stitches due to the reduced gauge. It will look awesome!!

Hi Lora❣️I love your videos so much. Have you ever made the 24x36 rug starting with 36 foundational chains so the stitches go horizontally across the rug? I'm making your rug for a birthday gift and I'm considering crocheting it horizontally. I still plan to use the twine on the short ends. By the way, I received my order the other day and I just love everything❣️ I'm looking forward to ordering a custom crochet hook from you as soon as they're available. Good Morning, Valorie! Happy your order arrived & you were pleased! Thank you for caring about my Mother. She's doing much better then we ever dreamed possible. Quite the fighter she is! I have thought about (but never have yet) crocheting the rugs horizontally. I think they would look really good that way particularly under a bathroom vanity or kit sink area. It's almost natural that they would go that way following the toe kick area. Good idea! I look forward to seeing a picture!! I approved the "Q" sized prototype and ordered 10 each of the cherry, oak & walnut. I'll probably see their arrival in 2'ish weeks. I'm still testing out the "P" size for its approval & order. I've been crocheting for 58 yrs and it's nice to learn about new products out there, i.e. that polyester yarn. However, I would like to correct you on your statement when you began to crochet the trim. After you tied the trim yarn on and you did your single crochet to start, you than CHAINED three, not three SINGLE crochet. Just letting you know so that you can instruct your viewers correctly.
Hello, Judy! Thank you bunches for reaching out! I really appreciate when viewers are attentive enough to catch a mistake! However, in this case they were single crochets. Hello! Good question & one I'm asked a lot. The primary reason is because our handmade rugs are works of art - we are "painting with fabric" & they are a labor of love in my opinion. For that reason, I highly recommend washing by hand as opposed to in your washing machine or a commercial washer. The agitation of your machine is really hard on the rug fiber and larger rugs particularly are hard on your washer. Instead I recommend filling a bathtub, utility sink or wash basin with warm water & a mild detergent. Let your rug soak in the water for a few hours. Push the water through the rug (roll up your pant legs and walk on the rug - works wonderfully!), rinse several times and let drip dry. Pick a warm, breezy day and lay your rug flat to dry on a deck, patio or driveway, shaping as necessary. Decks work great because the air circulates around the rug drying quickly. Turn over. Once the rug is thoroughly dry spray with Scotchguard! This product is AMAZING! It not only repels against water, stains & debris, but it ALSO protects against sun damage and actually conditions the fiber! You'll find using Scotchguard, that you won't need to wash your rug nearly as often! Repeat this process each time you feel the need to wash it! Love this! So simple and looks great! Definitely going to make this.
My 4yo daughter said "I like that lady. She's beautiful" 🤩
Awhhh ... thank you for sharing, Elizabeth! Please say "Thank you!!" to your darling daughter!
I made TWO in two days. Simple, quick and they look lovely. Thanks for sharing.
That’s fantastic! Glad you're enjoying making them!
I have been searching everywhere for the correct materials to make a similar style of rug and this video showed me another great way to make what I was picturing! Thank you so much!

Oh WOW! Thank you so VERY much! I am happy the video inspired you. Looking forward to staying in touch!

Really enjoyed your tutorial. The rug came out great!
Thank you!!! Much appreciated!
Great video.
How could I make a striped rug? How would I change colors?
Hello, Sandi! SO happy you reached out! When using the Bonnie Craft Cord, you will simply cut the cord leaving about a 9" tail. Select the color you would like to transition to and tie a loose knot. The same way you add a new roll of cord.
Continue on with that color for your desired rows. And repeat the process when you decide to return to the original color (or any color for that matter)! At the end of your project and once your rug reaches the desired size, you will weave in those tails. A latch hook works really well for this, or you can use your crochet hook!
I would love to learn how to make my own yarn, rope, thread etc. This stuff can be expensive . Thank younfor sharing
Ohhhh I would TOO!! I've seen videos on how it's done & it fascinates me! Thank YOU for watching!
I like your methodology. 👍

Hi I would like to know what is the size of the crochet hook jumbo and the smaller hook thankyou 😊
Curious if you’ve ever use this instead of tying the ends together to fuse them I read this brand of cord can be fused together
Very interesting!! It's polyester so that makes sense. I'll give it a try. Thank you for reaching out & for the suggestion!

Hello Lora. Thank you for your answer. I understand that you are selling the craft coard are you also shipping over seas? To South Africa?
Greetings Willy
Would you tell me how many rows long this rug is? Thank you
Hello!!

Laura
Do you stitch into the hole the chain makes or skip that to the first crochet
Hello, Diane! Happy you've reached out. The chain is to allow you to make the turn. You will then insert your hook into the first stitch.
You might get into the habit initially of counting your stitches to assure you haven't dropped or added one by mistake. I've made thousands of rugs & yet I still do this from time-to-time. Particularly on my rectangular rugs.
Hope that helps! Please don't hesitate to reach out with any additional questions! Always here for you!
Loves these,
Thanks for reaching out, Jeanne!
Do you think the non skid rug backing would be beneficial?

Can we make the complete rug with 3mm jute only?
I want to make a large runner about 2ft by 12ft.
Can you suggest approx how much jute would be needed?
*Approx length of jute
Hello, Zaeema! I have no doubt you can use 3mm jute to create the rug, but I've never used that size unfortunately. For that reason, it would be hard for me to answer your question. So sorry!
I would love to see your runner when you complete it & if you could share the amount of 3mm jute you ended up using that would be awesome so that others might learn from your efforts! THANK YOU!!
Can colored jute be used? Will it run/fade if when washed?

Hi Lora I have a 12mm ,can I use that till I get a bigger hook. Have a great day ❤
Yes you can! You'll find however, that working with the "Bonnie Craft Cord" that I used in this video, a 16mm ("Q") sized hook will work better to grab the cord. We have them available from our website - both in hand-crafted wood hooks or "Susan Bates" plastic. Here's a link!
www.ragstorugs-bylora.com/
Thank you for reaching out! Hope your day is AMAZING!!
What size cord are you using
Hello, Brenda! All the information for what was used in the rug construction is listed for you! It is a "Bonnie Craft Cord" - 6 mm Thanks for asking!
Do you think this rug, in red craft cord, would look good trimmed in natural jute?
Karen, I think it would be STUNNING!!
EasyPeasy!!
Thank you, I really enjoy your vidoes
are you lora that advertised your rugs in thecountry sampler
Hello, Anna! YES! We advertised in Country Sampler for years! What a wonderful magazine!! Thanks for remembering me by way of the magazine!
so nice
Thank you, Susan! 🙂
Another question, how many yards does it take for the rug you made? How many yards is one of those balls of yarn?
Hello, Karen! Each roll of Bonnie Craft Cord (6mm) is 100 yards!
awesome! Thank you! I'm adding to my try-it list!
Wonderful! Thank you for watching & staying in touch!
@@RagstoRugsbyLora Thank you!
Is their a written pattern for the crocheted rectangle rug ?
@@RagstoRugsbyLora Do you prep your sheets first before weighting them ?

This is beautiful. Does the cord also work well on oval and round with ruffle border?
Good Question, Betty! I have made these in oval, round & rectangular! Not sure however, about the scalloped border. I would guess it would work well!! It's a very pliable cord. SO easy to work with. And it comes in 28 colors and 3 weights!!
I meant a scalloped border of jute.
@@bettytarver2441 Oh I'm sorry! I thought you were referring to the cord I used in the video. I'm sure you could use jute (instead of twine?) on the borders of oval & round rugs.
What about acrylic yarn
Hi,
If I wish to make this rug in different measurement for example: 23" by 60" how many bundles of bonnie craft cord do I need?
Your reply will be appreciated 🙂
Hello! The best I can do is approximate for you. I've only made 24x36 - MANY of them! If it were me I would plan on 5 rolls? - possibly part of a 6th. Start with 23 chains, add 1 to turn followed by 60 rows to achieve that size! Have fun! Happy New Year!!
Love the rug, does this cord come in colors?
Thank you! YES! It comes in 28 different colors!
Does Bonnie cord have a different name? Can this cord be purchased from a hardware store?
Yes, I will let you know how the latex works. I found out that Walmart and Joann Fabric carry that yarn. That’s only 20 miles away! Hooray 😁

Good Morning, Rebecca! So happy you've reached out! I'm happy to help, but I will need to know a bit more information. Will you rug be crocheted, woven or toothbrush. And what shape? Rectangular or Oval? I'll watch for your reply!
You can also reach out on our website for fabric requirement questions! Look for it on the homepage. Just send me the info & I'll send you the fabric requirements, by yardage AND BY weight! Here's a quick link! www.ragstorugs-bylora.com/
@@RagstoRugsbyLora it will just be crocheted!!! And rectangle. A 5x7 foot rug!
Thank you. Is the rug slippery on certain floors? Will it need a backing to keep it from slipping? Does that rope come in different colors?
Surprisingly, it doesn't slip on my laminate flooring. It moves a bit, but we haven't had any issues with slipping. In fact, the nursing home where my Mother lives approved the rug for in front of her sink! YAY! YES!! The cord comes in 28 total colors!! The color we used was "Lambs Wool" - a beautiful off white. But there are 27 other beautiful colors to choose from!
@@RagstoRugsbyLora Thanks so much!
I love it, thank you 😊
You're welcome! 😊
Is it still washable with the jute trim?
Hello, Kathy! Surprisingly, yes it IS!! I fully expected to have to replace the trim after a washing or two. But I have now washed the rug (in the video) that is in front of my kitchen sink MANY times and the rug & the trim look as good as new. I'm starting a turquoise one now for my guest bath! So beautiful!!

Thank you!
Also used this rug for cottage ?
Oh yes! You could use this rug ANYWHERE! So durable! (You'll LOVE it!)
sitting on rug ..no prblm ?long life going ?
Could you use 2mm?
You sure can Lisa!
Bonnie Craft Cord comes in 2mm, 4mm & the 6mm that I used in the demonstration. A "Q" sized hook is ideal with the 6mm; you will want to size down your hook for the 2mm, and of course many more stitches due to the reduced gauge. It will look awesome!!
PLEASE SEND THE NAME OF THE ROPE YOU USE FOR THE RECTANGULAR WHITE RUG. THANKS
Hello, Maria!

Is that cord 6 mm?
It sure is, Marian! 6 mm "Bonnie Craft Cord"!
We sell 12 different colors of it on our website including "Lamb's Wool" which I used in the video. Here's a link! >> ragstorugs-bylora.com/SHOP.php?category=75
Lora you are such an inspiration. Great tutorial. Is the twine 3mm? Ok to wash that? The yarn is Lambs wool? Can’t find it at HL or on line. Just Amazon but I’m visual and love to feel and see the colors.
Hello, Judy! THANK YOU!! The information for the materials I used will always be at the bottom of the video (in case you forget!) The cord is called "Bonnie Craft Cord" - 6 mm weight (there are many weights). The color I used in the video was "Lambs Wool" but there are 28 different colors to choose from. The Jute Twine is a 3 ply. If your Hobby Lobby doesn't carry it, just ask them. They can order it for you!! Just tell them "Bonnie Craft Cord 6 mm". Yes! I was VERY surprised to see that not only does the cord machine wash amazingly well, but the jute twine as well!! I recommend laying it flat to dry. (It will dry very fast!) Thanks again for your kind words!
I did look in your description and I did find it but cannot order it online from Hobby Lobby and Amazon way too expensive. Thanks for your reply. I went to urologist today to have stent put in for kidney stones. Got IV in and ready and the machine couldn’t get there today. I was speechless. So I go tomorrow. I thought while recovering I may start this type for my granddaughter. She would like the pebble color but only had 2. Thanks again.
@@judymcintire7095 Here's a link for it at Hobby Lobby! Hope this helps! So very sorry for your health concerns! I'm praying for you!!

Can we do this with jute?
YES!!! Absolutely, Raquel! I've made many using a 6 ply jute. It's the equivalent weight as the 6mm cord. Use the same "Q" hook! Please share your finished rug with us!
Why is it tubers don't show up close? How do u expect us to be able to really see? Re-watch yr video and see what I'm saying. It's a beautiful rug and yr good at telling, just not showing. Yr camera needs to be closer.
Sorry to disappoint you, Virginia. :/ We are working to improve our skills behind the camera. We video in my dining room and it can be a challenge.
Is the boarder a single crochet or double crochet? It was hard to tell from the video.
@@marieotten3033 thanks for asking! THe border is a single crochet using an "L" hook & jute twine.
Hi Virginia, not sure if ur using ur cellphone or laptop, but if ur using ur cellphone here is a solution that I use:
Turn ur cell so that the video is longest, then take ur thumb and ur index finger and push out. 🙂
Why are people so mean to others? Especially when someone is kind enough to take the time to show them their craft for free?

Hi Lora❣️I love your videos so much. Have you ever made the 24x36 rug starting with 36 foundational chains so the stitches go horizontally across the rug? I'm making your rug for a birthday gift and I'm considering crocheting it horizontally. I still plan to use the twine on the short ends. By the way, I received my order the other day and I just love everything❣️ I'm looking forward to ordering a custom crochet hook from you as soon as they're available. I hope your mom is still on the mend 💕🙏
Valorie
I'll keep you posted okay?
Hoping you have a wonderful day & weekend ahead!!
Thank you 🌷
You’re welcome 😊
It's beautiful! I love it. Could you give a link so that we know we are getting the right thing? I think I see it on Amazon but it's way more than $9.99 each. If it is the right thing it is 2 for 31.99. Even if you link it from Amazon it will tell us if we are getting it right. Thank you!
Hello, Joy! Thank you!! Here's the Hobby Lobby Link ($9.99) - absolutely the best price I was able to find. If they don't have it, they will order it for you! There are 28 colors to choose from. Make sure you get the 6mm!

Wonderful! Ohhhh I am SO happy for you! This will be the PERFECT project for both of you to learn!
The cord comes in MANY colors, too! Hope you'll share pictures of your finished rugs!
I am essentially using the same pattern I teach for a scalloped border, simply using twine instead of fabric. And single crochets instead of double crochets. Here's a link to that video! >> th-cam.com/video/CAh6mwl8XFY/w-d-xo.html
I was talking about the 3 chain stitches you made before you started your single crochet stitches to go along the edge.
@@judyherman1249 Ahha! So sorry to have misunderstood. (Story of my life! LOL)
@@RagstoRugsbyLora no need to be sorry, and I wasn't intending to argue, I just wanted everyone to be instructed correctly because every stitch matters. I have been following you for a short time but am enjoying your Crafts. Keep up the beautiful work.

Can't see it you can't see the stitches or pattern
Hello! Could you help me out? I'm not sure what you're commenting on. You're not able to see the stitches in the video?
You don’t do the sides just the ends
That's correct, Annette! For this type of crocheted rug, you simply work back & forth always adding a stitch at the end when turning your work.
Oh my your camera is to far away
Sorry about that! We're good at crocheting; getting better at the video part! LOL Thanks for the positive critique!
Why dont you throw your rag rugs in the wash?
Here's a link to a video your might enjoy watching on washing your rugs as well as other tips!
