This version holds a special place in my heart. I was told once the smiths are "overplayed", this can never be played too many times. You're already on another level of sad if you are listening to any of these songs! Love and blessings x
Noel never tries to be better than any bands he covers and he isn't better than the originals, he just wants to sing a song by a different band and if possible introduce people to new music.
a contemporary master singing a masterful song. If any lyricist can appreciate the words to a song, this would be the perfect example... he sang it with such heart.
This is an absolute classic Smiths song, it's an absolute classic song generally. Noel does it pride, not better than SP Morrrissey but who could? Noel, luv the album, luv ur Oasis songs, fade away, masterplan, slide away, etc. Top man, up there with Morrissey and Ian Brown, luv you mate!!!
I love Noel, he is a an absolute legend. Morrissey & Johnny Marr would be proud of this. Although it could never be as good as the original, it get's damn close. A superb version of one of the greatest songs ever written/composed, well done Noel. He obviously loves this song too.
Take me out tonight Where there's music and there's people And they're young and alive Driving in your car I never, never want to go home Because I haven't got one Anymore Take me out tonight Because I want to see people And I want to see life Driving in your car Oh, please don't drop me home Because it's not my home, it's their home And I'm welcome no more And if a double-decker bus Crashes into us To die by your side Is such a heavenly way to die And if a ten ton truck Kills the both of us To die by your side Well, the pleasure, the privilege is mine Take me out tonight Take me anywhere, I don't care I don't care, I don't care And in the darkened underpass I thought, "Oh God, my chance has come at last" But then a strange fear gripped me And I just couldn't ask Take me out tonight Oh, take me anywhere, I don't care I don't care, I don't care Driving in your car I never, never want to go home Because I haven't got one, la-di-dum Oh, I haven't got one Oh, oh And if a double-decker bus Crashes into us To die by your side Is such a heavenly way to die And if a ten ton truck Kills the both of us To die by your side Well, the pleasure, the privilege is mine Oh, there is a light and it never goes out There is a light and it never goes out There is a light and it never goes out There is a light and it never goes out There is a light and it never goes out There is a light and it never goes out There is a light and it never goes out There is a light and it never goes out
i didnt say either made it big in the usa. Oasis is big to the masses in the usa because of wonderwall, but there's not A great following. Most people in the us will just know Oasis from wonderwall. There are more loyal Smiths fans in the usa... than oasis fans.
S G There are a few of us loyal Oasis fans in the U.S! Even a lot of us High Flying Birds fans. I go see him every time he’s here, and he still sells out!
The problem with Noel Gallagher is that he can't sing with emotion and Morrissey/Marr wrote this song to be sung with feelings as it's one of the most beautiful love songs of all time and the lyrics are so poetic. Noel makes this song sound so mundane and bland which it never ever should. This version's fucking awful.
I clicked the like button. Then I pressed play
I love The Smiths and I think this is an awesome cover :D Noel makes it his, it just has his sound!
Well said!
Is there anyone there who thinks that this version is sadder then The Smiths version ?
Yeah the smiths
A better version hands down.

Noel and this song are like the two best things in the world put together.
too much legend
a contemporary master singing a masterful song. If any lyricist can appreciate the words to a song, this would be the perfect example... he sang it with such heart.
Great cover of the Smiths.
Gold.
Omg! I love this Smiths song, but Noel Gallagher did it excellent too!
This is an absolute classic Smiths song, it's an absolute classic song generally.

THE SMITHS SOUND
Any know if Noel GALLAGHER'S HIGH FLYING BIRDS has covered this Smiths song in any of their concerts???
hermoso.
Take me out tonight
Where there's music and there's people
And they're young and alive
Driving in your car
I never, never want to go home
Because I haven't got one
Anymore
Take me out tonight
Because I want to see people
And I want to see life
Driving in your car
Oh, please don't drop me home
Because it's not my home, it's their home
And I'm welcome no more
And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure, the privilege is mine
Take me out tonight
Take me anywhere, I don't care
I don't care, I don't care
And in the darkened underpass
I thought, "Oh God, my chance has come at last"
But then a strange fear gripped me
And I just couldn't ask
Take me out tonight
Oh, take me anywhere, I don't care
I don't care, I don't care
Driving in your car
I never, never want to go home
Because I haven't got one, la-di-dum
Oh, I haven't got one
Oh, oh
And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure, the privilege is mine
Oh, there is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
The Smiths ė algo singular
Quality.
im praying
Further why its good to be Blue. ;)
Mozz is a red 🔴⚪⚫
nice cover : )
Mega.
@tombone3 I do, the smiths were a mayor inspiration for noel and oasis
fucking brilliant!!
You'll never be Morrisey ,Noel , but you'll do
I need these chords!!!
Just because you're a fanboy doesn't mean you have to hate.Have a nap you'll feel better XD
Collosal.
no, it was the abandonment of the us tour by liam
apisteuto...!
edan noel
what a song make better by noel gallagher
It's different. It sounds good. Not as good. Leave the original alone. It's perfect.
@qwer8907 it'll be Morrissey's actually ;)
@fxsaberboy That makes no sense at all? I didn't say I have a theory, you don't know the song There is a Light That Never Goes Out by The Smiths?
sorry but i feel the emotion here...
@fiedleraufdemdach OK thanks for the info yes and i know the it was The Smiths
@rosalbina188 X) ok thx
@rosalbina188 I'm french ! ^^
@TheSaype are u jokin?
@forshigity5000 1 in 200 people in America could tell you who Colonel Gaddafi is.
I wish it was Morrisey's voice because the musical arragement is superb.
The arrangement suits Noels voice. It sounds great. But it will never sound as good as Johnny Marr.
Noel Gallagher + The Smiths? Fuck me.
@leemcqueen500
nah....morrisey is one of a kind.
4 dislakes? Liam...
Better than the original, suppose I would say that as i'm not into The Smiths.
Thanks for clarification. People writing that sh*t as it was fact. Johnny Marr will never be surpassed, but I respect your opinion.
@tombone3 I think even Noel Gallagher would disagree with you on that one
it's probably not bad, but I just can't dissociate of smiths version.
cannot better the orginal Morrisey alway will be his song
@ChocolateExplosion u say oasis influenced nobody?? the killers, kings of leon and kasabian to name but a few would disagree!!
I think that a better bass line would make the song a really "masterpiece" cover
better than original
Not.
@fedemonsalve hahaha i KNOW Noel would disagree with that guy lol
This cover trumps the original.
eeeeeeeh no that's a A+ cover but the original is untouchable
Obviously his voice isn't as awesome as Morrissey's, still a good cover. It's not supposed to sound exactly the fuckin same
i didnt say either made it big in the usa. Oasis is big to the masses in the usa because of wonderwall, but there's not A great following. Most people in the us will just know Oasis from wonderwall. There are more loyal Smiths fans in the usa... than oasis fans.

The lyrics are wrong : it's "Take me home tonigth" ...
...and that. Haha
@TheSaype well i'm italian.. i thought everybody knew it means an erection
@Pistolsofbrixton Explain why I am a "biatch".
Who cares if they made it in the US, making it in the US is not a guide to who makes quality music. I give you Britney Spears as a perfect example.
Liam
He's actually beginning to sink to Morrisey's weak sauce songwriting craft. He's not the same Noel as 20 years ago.
Good...but doesn't live up to the original.
I like the smith's tunes but morrissey's voice is terrible. Noel vocal's are far better than his imo.
@MichaelJohnston17 I guess Oasis, Noel Gallagher and Beady Eye, The Beatles are all shit according to your theory.
That means literally nothing haha - Americans didn't get the arrogance of them both at the time and so shunned the music. Their loss in my eyes.
The Smiths are bigger than Oasis in the USA.
Oasis never made it big here, as A matter of fact 1in 200 people could tell you who the Gallaghers are.
good but not as good as the original!
Big fan of Noel, but this is just another Smiths cover that doesn't have any chance to be compared to the original
The Smiths are so different and original that nobody can really compare but this is pretty amazing
not good. Is this a cover?
Sorry, but, just no. No.
RudeboxRebbie If you can’t understand music, please shut up
