- As you get high gear levels in Ghost Recon Breakpoint it becomes slower and slower. At gear level 230 it almost completely stops. At gear level 250 it does stop. Here's a little guide on how it works and how to get over 250 gear level.

Once you reach a high level of 250-252 the only way to go any higher is to do Raids which require 4 players (not AI teammates).
But....
There is no real benefit higher than 250 once you've obtained gold gear with good perks. A 300 level player would have the same gold gear as a 250 player. Just because that 300 player is 50 levels higher than you doesn't mean his stats are 50 times better. They may have better guns from raids. It's all about getting the best gold gear with optimum perks. From there you can create custom presets by farming gold gear that best suits your play style (i.e stealth preset). And don't forget to "Favorite" your best guns so they don't accidentally get sold or dismantled.

I’m at 250 right now and have one weapon that’s a 252. I also saw the staying at a certain level for a while before being able to level up. What I did was equip each item at the same level and then relatively shortly I would get something higher. Didn’t take as long as I thought it would.
It's because the enemies come with a much higher gear score than your own. For 250 the enemies of elite mission come with 255. 252 Gear you only get by dropped stuff - not from loot boxes. Soft cap currently is 245 - hard cap is 252. Instead of waiting for the auto-update (which can take hours) if you switch for one game into PvP you can immediately trigger the next gear level.

if you are under 250 you can also farm the LVL 250 Wolf camps, Camp Kodiak and Red Shark i think the other one is that will give you +1 or +2 gear all the way up to 250
You get above 252 by doing the raid. I was level 180ish when I did the raid first time and I got 3 pieces of 260 gear and shot up through the levels. Hope to see more on this game from you, it's been awhile.

It must be wildlife. I listened to it back and that's all I can come up with. There's a lot of wildlife in the game and at that timestamp I was out in the wilderness.... must've been an animal or something.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think during an elite faction missions, only the enemies with a skull icon on them will drop gear above 250 (usually they can be found on the 2nd base or objective). On that last objective once you get your loot leave 1 enemy alive and let him kill you then you can repeat the farm again. BUT! from what I've heard they already applied a hot fix to this on the last live update. Now you can only encounter those elite enemies once in a faction mission each day. meaning if you die the enemies will reset back to level 150.
You can replay the whole mission and get the 255 enemies again at the 2nd location. But I already hit 252 and now I'm back to 250 since I hope in the future they'll max out Maria's shop to 252 that way its consistent because relying on 255 enemies to drop a specific piece of gear for you is not a good strat
I've looted 250+ gear from chests while on these missions. That's not to say however that I think it's for the best. I am kinda almost thinking about dialing my gear level back to 250 and looking at these comments I may have to explain this theory soon.

It’s really not that bad. Essentially without the Gear Score system most players would pick one or two specific weapons and never use anything else, and they would beat the campaign in the first day or two (maybe three max), dabble in or solely play pvp for a few days to a week, and move on to something else.
There is no reason for alternate playthrough runs or “end game” content in a linear shooter. Instead Ubi seems to want to have a Destiny style online shooter, with end game raids to keep player interest while popping out pvp maps and new classes to allow some feel of diversity of choice in the game.
The Gear Score is a pretty common rpg style tactic to prolong player involvement in a base game release until end game content is either released or unlocked. It’s not like it’s that hard of a grind, there are players who maxed out within the first week of playing.

Your point about being forced to switch weapons (for variety) makes no sense either; considering people who wouldn't switch from the same weapon need to just find the blueprint for that weapon and keep making it. It's ridiculous, the game is ridiculous. Not to mention your statement about not needing other playthroughs for a linear shooter is highly fucking stupid considering that was how things went for decades.

Nah, I've gotten gear over 250 from chests. But only while on elite faction missions.

I absolutely loved Wildlands. Favorite game of all time. This one not so much. This gear management is totally ruining it for me. I don’t even know why I’m sticking it out. My understanding is that if I don’t keep opening crates to raise my weapon level, I will at some point run into enemies that I can’t defeat. Correct? I just want to get to the highest level so that I never have to open a crate again. After clearing a base I don’t want to have to spend 10 or 15 minutes just opening up boxes and collecting info. I feel like I spend as much time in the menus as I do in gameplay. Really hard to get immersed in this game.
As for me, I play Wildlands, and Breakpoint as milsims. I have no interest in grinding for gear. The Division cured me of that. Grind to get exotic weapons so you can grind to get more weapons. What is the point?
Unfortunately I have a certain obligation to grind, as to be any kind of authority on the game, I have to have been through it all. Welcome to where games become work. Not to say that I don't enjoy it, but there is a certain obligation to stay on top of things, you know.

Enemies still pretty much do the same amount of damage even if your max gear score . The only difficulty change is the level in Wich you play on .
All you have to do is discover every question mark on the map
To farm high level gear you need yo do elite mission like Dally said but don't restart the mission. After you clean the base fast travel to the nearest camp in another region, then rest to the second time available from right to left, get your chopper and go, rinse and repeat. If you fail the mission for leaving the area, go and rest in the camp before hitting the restart in the mission, you can avoid that by not getting close to the objectives most as you can. Preferably choose a location with a lot of enemies, only drop from enemies are high level, chests are the same as always.
When i hit 230 i got 233 gear mostly but once i got 233 it completely stopped, all i get now is 233, i think ima go farm behemoths now 😝 good tip on the elite missions btw, ima make sure to grind them at 250 to get 252, just a few more days 😁😁
Setting to arcade and farm the 250 wolves camp, that's how I getting to 250 from 230.
Finally reached 252 last night, but it’s just a number. I don’t deal more damage or gain more armor. Headshots kill at any level. Gear and weapon perks aren’t better, and enemy AIs are still idiots. Gear score doesn’t really change ANYTHING.
The worst is blueprints. All my weapons still drop at 250. Don’t expect gear score to improve anything.
I feel yeah man, I'm focusing on getting my gear at 252 and using 250 weapons from crafted blueprints to get the rolls I want like accuracy and range on my snipers. Ext.

My usual loadout is Sharpshooter, Recon A1, 516, Sync Drones, and perks for accuracy & damage. My gear is usually focused on stealth and max ammo. I keep the Zastava and Stoner for bigger drones and choppers.
If you want 252 stuff, focus on Elite faction missions and Wolf camps.

Good plan. The gear score isn’t all that important.
The gameplay IS fun, but the campaign kinda sucks. I’ve beaten everything except Walker (saving him for last). The other lieutenants were just stupid and too easy. Behemoths are better challenges than the bosses.

Hint, if you have never played the game and are looking in. In my number 3 save slot my Panther Class character is level 228 and accomplished this all in about 4 hours. Hint, do not play the main game, once you get to the main Hub......do nothing else and just go FREE ROAM. Not certain why but gear drops are twice what they are in the game missions. Go hunt up all the weapons, all the goodies to go on them such as the Mawl.....or go find the Aug or the Bren........I like the Scorpion EVO 3......it simply melts enemies and once you hit gear level 120 or so you no longer hide from that seeker drone and the wolves as you want them to show up and drop good gear. Grin. Once you do start the story mission drops from enemies still level you up.....stuff in boxes is generally below your level. However exploring small question mark places the boxes hold some high level gear....certainly worth the exploring.
So go exploring......go see the island and have fun.....you will level up much faster than playing the story missions. Plus in the story nothing can hurt you.....you are already a very high level so they are not much of a threat. .......oh when you go kill walker, just leave it all lay there.......all of it will be level 150....no need to even waste time in inventory management with any of that stuff.
I want one character at 250..........so all that infernal inventory management of switching out gear and weapons will come to a halt......the one thing I really hate about this game is the inventory management ....just give me a gun already and call it good. AAAAAARRRRRGGGGG!!!!!

I don’t hide from it now and I’m gscore 80 but I went and got the tac50 blueprint and just up every 4 gear levels and it still just one taps heads all the time
The dumbest shit about all of this is that you can have all lvl 252 gear, but if you equip 2 lvl 250 weapons you drop down to lvl 251. You can't craft weapons higher than 250, so all those blueprints are effectively worthless.
You can level your gear level very fast in pvp, hopefully you have a team because most ppl are scared to fight.
yeah I'm no good at pvp and not a fan of it, but i figured, as with so many games, that that'd be a quick way to level it as well.
Man I hit level 150 and it is a Grind from then on out. I would like to get to the point where I can start to actually look for gear on going to keep and use. I like the way division 2 does it and they just continue to throw tons of gear at you. Then when you're at endgame you can tweak the gear to make it exactly how you want it pretty much. This game you are stuck grinding and you are stuck with what they give you. Luckily there are only a couple of perks on each piece of gear so getting a roll you like probably isn't too tough but getting to that level is unfortunately

Yeah. The higher you get, the smaller the margin will be above you. it is as I say in the video - once you hit 230 it goes only one level at a time. It progressively gets slower and slower. The only exception is elite faction missions.
But the thing is no one asked and yet no one asked for my opinion says the guy saying that to me next and then same thing applies to him it’s a huge fuck up here

I've literally done every mission, picked up all blueprints, attachments, and done daily and elite missions. Finally reached 250 and had 1 random piece of 252. Boots and so far that's the only 252 I've seen.
Have you tried the 516 Scout, DD? It is an obscene DMR. Little sister to G28, but in 5.56. Because of that it has a lot lower recoil, so basically you get 3 shots in the same spot as you'd get 1 with G28.
I have tried it. I'm still in the early stages of weapon testing and have tried it a bit. The game is still so new and I'm trying to get a feel for every weapon.

Honestly until they remove Maria's 250 cap and update it to 252 its only worth it if you wanted to feel like you accomplished something that you yourself are proud of

I agree. I think they should've left the cap at 250. I'm thinking about dialing my gear back down to 250 so I can retain the use of current-level weapons of my choice and making.
Darkdally Yea I agree, I made the call to just stick to 250 for now. When they raise the cap hopefully Maria’s gets raised too since them capping Maria’s shop at 250 and making the max gear level 252 makes no sense at all.

Grind the high level Wolf camps at West side of the map.
I'm 251, but I have all 252 gear. Problem is, the blueprints don't go over 250. So my primary and secondary weapons are 250 across all classes because I got the rolls I want for them. Considering how many skell credits I burned to roll them, I'm not going for my 252 weapons unless I get a drop with the weapons and specific perks I want for them.
Also, funny thing is, all the gold gear I got with the stats I like didn't come from elite missions. Everything from headgear down to the boots all came from enemy drops while exploring, killing random patrols, and clearing random camps. Most of which didn't come from Wolf camps, interestingly enough.
Hi @Dardally, my wife and I cannot get enough of this game and are slowly making our way past 160 or so no rush. My question is, can you see them raising the gear cap or adding a further progression system as the thought of hitting a soft cap is really disheartening. Great video!
I'm not sure on raising the cap, though probably eventually. The raid isn't even out yet and it will only require a gear level of 150 to enter. They will likely raise it in the future, and I do expect to see extra layers put in place as well - just as in Wildlands when they added Tier Mode and then Ghost Mode. They have plans for this game. I don't know them all, but they have plans.

Don't restart mission after u kill everyone, if you want farm 255 enemies kill them all, loot, log out, log in, repeat

The rub of the elite faction motions is you only get two per day. You can also farm the 250+ Wolf base's , on the west coast of the main island and off egg island I believe. The gear that the wolves drop should drop at 251 or 252. The crates how ever will still be 250 .
Been dying to get back in I haven't been able to grind much due to work and home life. But this weekend is my weekend damn it, I'm going to get it in lol.

Why play with gearscore at all. Ghost Recon was never meant to be a looter shooter. I keep gs turned off, not even worth it.

You should of just played the mission at normal speed instead of fast forwarding this is one of the few games I enjoy watching ppl play as much as playing.

I got the game after the update where gear leveling could be turned off. I completed the game without gear leveling. Then I learned I needed metal parts to craft mines and the only way to get that was to dismantle weapons... but you can only dismantle weapons with gear leveling turned on. It turned out, finding metal parts was pretty difficult. I have over 200 parts, even 1000 parts, for most other items, but metal parts and advanced weapons parts are below 5.
I'm thinking of turning off gear leveling again. I don't see the advantage to it. I did enjoy the story of Breakpoint moreso than Wildlands.

After killing yourself or restarting if there still 250 log out/ log in. It should sort it out but your have to start it from the begining rather than the check point.

I love playing the game. The last time I put these kinds of hours into a game was when I first started playing WoW, and that was 13 years ago. The game is by no means perfect, nor is it my favorite game atm. But I enjoy playing it a lot.
I just find it pretty dull. Only thing keeping me playing is just knocking out the daily factions
I gave it an honest shot but I don't like almost everything about it. I can't think of anything it does better than wildlands. It just kind of just misses the mark on every criteria. I'm going to wait for a while for ubi to get there shit together before I buy any of there games.

Just to say it, there is rdy more you can do to go to 300. (tips : daylie elite scales if you are 252 they are 255, raid start @ 260+ and they you can solo it all with loot drop)

Like you said why would you want to but it is possible to grind for gear. But it doesn’t matter. A 252 piece has the exact same stats as a 250 piece. But if you want the look of a 252 build for bragging rights all you need to do is replay the elite mission. The 252 pieces are the random drops from the second part of the mission. I did try grinding but is pointless, same stats and you only seem to get one blue and 2 purple’s or randomly a purple and a yellow. But to each his or her own

I've got gear that is 264 with stars on PS4/PS5. I honestly forget when I got those pieces because it happened in 2019. I just recently jumped back in to play to finish a lot of what I never completed after the main campaign. I also just recently restarted the game on PC as well......But anyway.....I can't seem to figure out how to get higher than 250. Sometimes 252 pops up 🤷♂

On the mission inquisitor rex just leave the commander alive loot let him kill you you'll respawn outside the same camp you can do it about 4 times then you'll only get 250 gear after
I can't really tell that gear level is all that important. I can kill anything at any level no matter what my gear level is. It adds an element of fun but I don't see or feel it working like it does in the Division series. i killed the 150+ wolves at the very beginning at a gear level of around 6 or 7. It doesn't seem like my weapons do reduced damage vs higher level enemies. I don't think that gear level counts for anything at all.
It reset the mission which means it took back what crates you already looted so you wouldn't be able to loot crate's more than once if you reset it... cuz it literally takes you back to a point before you started at Mission.

I found a drone that was level 255 and one that was 260. They both killed me instantly and since they killed me they haven't shown back up in game and this was over a week ago.
I ended getting stuck doing an elite mission where u kill flycatcher but he was already there and I hadn’t killed him yet so it locked that room down and I couldn’t get the passcode to open it. It was so annoying but I finally was able to kill him and do that mission I just had to wait a couple days for it to reset lol
Preordered this game, beat it in a week, thought it was crap compared to wildlands, now when I try to play wildlands my ps4 won’t read the disc. Seems odd that wildlands quit working as soon as I downloaded this game.

ok ok but honestly there is no difference between 150 and 250 no higher stats as long as it is gold you got max stat rolls so its pointless
unfortunately they failed at the gear lvls in this game I have a way they could have done this right and it would have been so simple but I guess they didnt put much effort in it

But I tried a level 250 wolves camp when I'm around 165 (if I remember correctly) and get 1 or 2 shot then I immediately died even from the 3 murmur drones. Then i came back to the same camp at around 230 and it is noticeably easier in terms of toughness from my character. I can now easily take shots and bring them down face to face. From this I think there is a hidden stat that we cannot see which is affected by our Gear Score, maybe a damage mitigation stat perhaps?
Edit: I always roll injury resistance, ammo capacity and explosive resistance on my gear during my leveling grind from 100 GS, so i don't think stat rolls on my gear will affect the above mentioned results.
This is not true. You are correct in saying that the he “stats” on the weapons are identical, but damage dealt and damage received is based on your gear score vs the enemy gear score. For most of the game, your gear score matches the enemy gear score, so damage dealt/received is normal. But if you take a 150 gear score character against a 250 gear score enemy, you will deal less and take more damage.
The elite faction missions have been Giving me stuff one level lower every time because I got one Piece of gear that was like two levels higher and none of my other stuff wants to catch up to it

What does a gear score mean anyway? It makes no sense. I get a metal bump cap with a gear score of 10 then later in the game I find a baseball cap worth 40???? Or I get two of the same gun one at 27 gear score and another at 113 what is the difference?

Well I tried that, as I did in the video and apparently just did it ill-timed. But as I said in the video I don't think it's worth it.... in fact, and this is something I intend to address, I think staying at 250 might be more beneficial.

After you complete the elite missions and replay them on the replays the levels will stay the same 255
How are you a level 251 but your scout is 249 when equip a blueprint it lowers my gear score

How do you have the battle rewards? I've done all faction leader missions and my faction missions and nothing and I dont have it.

Loot creates refresh every 24hrs, kill loot can be farmed by killing all enemies but 1, let said enemy kill you... When you respawn all enemies will as well🍻

Interesting video. Shame this game is very boring. Defeated the end boss on extreme under levelled and under 2 minutes. This game is a joke. I loved it when it first came out but the more you play the more you realise it's the same generic missions cycled over and over with 3 different missions repeated.

this vid is kinda old but fuck it, the reason why you didn't get above 250 items that easily is because of your boots, legs & secondary weapon
I dare bet at the time, you actually had items in those 3 slots that were worse than what you wanted but had 250/251 gearscore but you simply didn't want to replace
Well fun fact on this is that if you actually DO carry items with you but are not using them and are higher gearscore than what you wear, the game will keep giving you items below your average gearscore level, in your case 250. If you replaced those 3 slots with blue 250 items and 251 as i see you do have some, then the game is more eager to give you 252 and better 251's
Quick edit = i also would like to add that, say all 8 slots are 251, you will HAVE to grind for 252 piece of item, and once you receive it, all other 7/8 items will drop guaranteed 252 up to 260, since thats actually the cap now, because golem island is 260 in the zones and 260+ from titans

A very old and important one is the 'loot cycle/grind'. Suck players in and grab them.
Get higher stuff to fight higher enemies for higher stuff to fight higher enemies...repeating loop.
I don't buy into that in a tactical shooter game -- Diablo...it's fine there. Breakpoint...not so much.
Of course, the temptation is manufactured by the developers, as are paid 'loot boxes'.
My friend and I from England really enjoy playing ghost, recon, breakpoint, and ghost recon wildlands. We are both at 252 level with our weapons and gear. We have seen some people that are up to 300 level on weapons and gear but we don’t know how they did that I enjoy your video and I was hoping that you might have some more information about getting to 300 since you have made the first video about raising gear levels. Even though we are at 2:52 with our weapons and gear, our level at the shop, when we go to purchase weapons or build them from blueprints, we are still at 250 when we buy something. Somehow, someway, people are getting all the way to 300. Do you have any idea how they did it?
By playing the critical threat difficulty on the raids, because raid bosses drop gear way above the 252.so play the raid on regular first and you will get 260+ rated gear and once you learn how to kill the bosses do the hardest difficulty and you'll probably get 300 rated gear

I been stuck on 250 for a week!!
You have to die before the end the cases wont resest but the enemy's will and the drops your looking for comes from those enemy's!!!!
