Dont freak out about the flares, it doesnt hurt anybody it goes out after like three minutes its just for the spectacle, it is normal to see it here in Croatia also in Greece, Poland, Romania etc. Uefa and Fifa dont care about the flares as long as they are not thrown on the pitch. I grew up in those kinds of atmosphere and for me its nothing special.

The main difference about American football and football, is the way we view the sport. In America people go to a stadium to have fun and talk with friends, they rarely do it for passion of their club, that's why I view the NFL as "company" not a sport. In Europe we travel thousands of km to different countries to support our club and sing non stop during 90 minutes. That's why you see the flags and the flares the fights etc... We are bounded to our club and will defend it and support it until we die. We're not crazy, we're just passionate about football.

They prepare for matches weeks in advance, they make tifo’s (huge displays) weeks in advance, they buy their pyro week in week out, they’re always passionate about their club and will attend a match no matter what. I lived in America for 12 years - saw the mets, Yankees, Rangers and foreign matches all over the country. No chants ever matched the intensity of the U.K. / European crowds.
Go to a college football game. I’m a huge Clemson fan and the intensity and passion is unmatched and is truly special when you’re in a college atmosphere. Pro sports don’t have passionate fans here in the US though. Wish I could go and see a match in Europe to compare. I’m also an Earthquakes fan in the MLS but sadly Soccer doesn’t get much love over here so the crowd isn’t as intense.

It has taken the best part of 15 years of being a Fan to understand it! I am still learning new things as rules can change! Unless you really get into it and watch it you'll never understand! To the ignorant the game is simple... it is one of the most complex Sports out there! The aim is simple, score as many points as possible to win... how you do that however is complex. Do you score a Touchdown (6 points) and go for the 1 point Conversion or take a chance with a 2 point Conversion? Do you kick for a Field Goal (3 points)? Do you try to sack or tackle an opposing player in their own Endzone to get the Safety (2 points)? I am also sure Canadian Football has even more rules for scoring like off Punts and missed Field Kicks which are caught etc! Passing is weird... the first pass must always move forward in American Football... otherwise it is classed as an illegal pass, if a QB is about to be sacked and he throws the ball forward and the receivers have no realistic chance of catching it then it is Intentional Grounding as they are trying to avoid a potential loss of yards. If the ball from where it was snapped (Line of Scrimmage) is thrown as a pass forward beyond the line of Scrimmage, even if it returns behind the line of Scrimmage is classed as an illegal pass! The QB also isn't the only Player who can pass the ball... this is bare bones basics of the game... many people who look at American Football think it is a pussified Rugby yet have no clue about the game whatsoever. Rugby is a good game and so too is American Football. Football as we know it however is built on play acting espically in the higher tiers! In Rugby and NFL this is not tplersted by rules, Playerd and Fans!

To the ignorant the game is simple... it is one of the most complex Sports out there! The aim is simple, score as many points as possible to win... how you do that however is complex. Do you score a Touchdown (6 points) and go for the 1 point Conversion or take a chance with a 2 point Conversion? Do you kick for a Field Goal (3 points)? Do you try to sack or tackle an opposing player in their own Endzone to get the Safety (2 points)? I am also sure Canadian Football has even more rules for scoring like off Punts and missed Field Kicks which are caught etc! Passing is weird... the first pass must always move forward in American Football... otherwise it is classed as an illegal pass, if a QB is about to be sacked and he throws the ball forward and the receivers have no realistic chance of catching it then it is Intentional Grounding as they are trying to avoid a potential loss of yards. If the ball from where it was snapped (Line of Scrimmage) is thrown as a pass forward beyond the line of Scrimmage, even if it returns behind the line of Scrimmage is classed as an illegal pass! The QB also isn't the only Player who can pass the ball... this is bare bones basics of the game... many people who look at American Football think it is a pussified Rugby yet have no clue about the game whatsoever. Rugby is a good game and so too is American Football. Football as we know it however is built on play acting espically in the higher tiers! In Rugby and NFL this is not tplersted by rules, Playerd and Fans!

I think one of the main diffrences between American and European fans is that in america the chants are often lead by whats running on the speakers, like this whole jump around thing etc. doesn't need to be in europe, (almost) everything here is lead by the fans itself.
