In Dortmund's arena (Germany) at the 9th place are 25000 people just on this one stand, it's called the yellow wall. It is the biggest stand in Europe while the whole stadium is in Europes top ten with 81000. This stadium is a must see for every football fan in Europe.
BVB Dortmund is 1st world wide with the highest average visitors per game and season overall and the highest % of filled up ...there is not a single sport team that gets so many fans to every home game than BVB... the Südtribune is by far the biggest stand in Europe and one of the biggest in the world with 25.000... they make more noise than any other fans shown in the video... it is only hard to catch this in a video... I guess everyone knows the true Gordie on his europe tour he visit Dortmund at a random Bundesliga match vs Ingolstadt .. he said a quiet yellow wall is still louder than everything else he has seen

Most of these are greek. Bit over the top. English clubs have a tradition of singing/chanting. Most clubs have their own song. Most chants are humour based. Im a leeds fan but would have to say Liverpool is known for good humour. The general view is out sing and make more noise than the opposition and make it as intimidating as possible during the game but not violent. All clubs have a team they hate historically which leads to some great banter. A live match is a great experience mate, hope you get to see one in Europe one day

I lived in Greece for 5 years, 2000-2005 and went to a bunch of Olympiacos games. Their hooligan club is called Gate7 Ultras. And what their singing is... Your are something magical in the mind, where ever you go I will always be there to sing, Legend Oleee, Legand Ole, Legand Oleee..

When Besiktas fans have their back turned (and I mean everyone in the stadium) it means that they don't like the way their team is playing. Also they hold the world record in loudness in decibels when they chant. Probably the best fan base in football. However, I recommend you watch Liverpool vs Celtic; Liverpool vs Barcelona; Liverpool vs Besiktas. They all sing "you'll never walk alone" together (the last pairing did it once I belive). It's a respect thing. It's something to admire...

Your videos are awesome. As a Eastern European in USA I miss those games and chants sooo much
I've noticed something strange. I've observed many reactions from americans watching ultras videos and everyone coments about jumping and finding it scary when they hear bangs etc.. I think that is more to do with the fact they have guns and are conditioned in such a way as to be wary and defensive when they see large crowds, and hear bangs or big noise. It's just an obseration...yes people jump at loud noises and bangs occasionally everywhere, but I think mostly in america the first thing that would spring to mind is gun shots, while in Europe and other parts of the world many people would normally look around and think car backfire or just something crashing against something or landing loudly... many wouldn't think of gunshots at all. Although today some people and in some places may think of it secondly. It's just a personal observation and some may disagree.

Almost all of these are just the weekly league games for the teams. Just imagine NFL fans showing up at every game like this. This actually starts blocks away from the game and most of them march to the stadium singing and chanting, and it doesn't stop until well after the game.

Man, it says it in the video: these are the ultras, the hardcore superfans. These are the kind of guys (almost entirely guys) who often go into it looking for trouble, both from the police and the hardcore fans of other teams. There's plenty of normal fans - many times more - who just go to see the game, but these guys are something else.
The flares are mainly used in Germany and to the east of Germany right across Eastern Europe and into turkey, we don’t have them in the u.k.

Man I'm European, Italian to be precise, but I live in the US and I saw the 2 different ways to live (feel) the sport. You guys are more (calm), you live the spotr peaceful, we don't. There are really really crazy fans in the soccer. Our mentality is sick because there are who stab, use sticks or chaines or whatever they can for hurt or kill the fan of other team and they do this just for the soccer team, for the colors, for the faith. Going to the stadium in Europe (and not just in Europe) it could be very dangerous. It seem like you are going in war. I knows, it's insane and I hate that part but then there is also the wonderful side and it's the one what you are showed in this video. The songs, the chants, the coreography.
