  • Do you have a pile of stitched pieces waiting to be fully finished so you can display them? Maybe you feel guilty about having so many unfinished projects?
    I've developed a system to get unfinished projects DONE! With my three tips, you can take any project that’s “stuck” and turn it into a fully finished object (FFO). Get your stitching out of the pile and on display, where it deserves to be!
    Thanks for watching and I hope you'll find this video inspiring and helpful as you tackle those unfinished projects.

    Love the tip on putting your finishing on a board with all the supplies and looking at it on and off for awhile and seeing if you want to change it around. I have a wall hanging in my sewing room that says "Done Is Better Than Perfect". I have adopted that idea and have gotten so many for things done and once done you can ususally not find the imperfection.

    Thank you thank you. I have many beautiful pieces that need finished but I feel overwhelmed. Your best tip for me is the foam board. What a great idea. Once again, thank you

    Most importantly, you don't need to aim for perfection, a good enough finish is better than no finish at all! 😊

      Absolutely! That IS the most important thing. And it doesn't have to be perfect for us to enjoy it and be proud of it! :)

    Great tips! Thanks so much! I really don't like finishing, or at least, making the time to do finishing. I have tons of finished stitching that needs to be FFO-ed, and you're right: it should be on display somewhere. I like how you showed using paper to block off excess fabric to determine what size/shape you'd like the finished piece to look like. Thanks for all the encouragement!😊

      I'm so glad you found the tips helpful and encouraging! I understand what you're saying about making the time for finishing. I think if you can imagine how much you'll enjoy seeing your projects finished and on display, it can become more motivating. :)

    Thank you Misty! You are absolutely right - the more you do the better you get. In the beginning I sent 3 pieces to a finisher & was not happy with 2 of them. This forced me to redo those projects & gave me the confidence! I still struggle beforehand but afterwards am always pleasantly surprised at how well I do. Tks for yr guidance & encouragement! Happy Stitching Year! 🎉

    I completely agree with all your great suggestions! I always finish something as soon as I am done stitching it. I never set it aside and wait. I don’t do crazy complicated finishes but I like how they turn out. 😀

      @MistyPursel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's awesome! I see no reason to do crazy, complicated finishes unless that's your passion! 😁 I think the best feeling comes from just having your pieces finished and out on display however simple or complex they may be.

    Perfect advice! This is a great video. I came to all these steps about a month ago and finished 30+ ornaments for Christmas. Most of the time I ended up doing more than I started out to do. For me it is about getting started. ❤

    What a great video! My problem which you have now solved is I try to work on a few projects. I am going to take your tip and just pick one thing and give it a deadline and get all my material out. Right now I am working on a Christmas quilt that I plan on having pieced next Monday. Next is your new pattern “Boo” and “Whoo” because I love them but my grandson’s wife is such a huge Halloween person and I was thinking of doing for a Christmas present a “Halloween” related box and of course your gorgeous ornaments along with other things I see along the way. Love your work and patterns!!!

    You hit the nail on the head (for me) with getting over your fear. That is a roadblock for me with quilting, for sure. But every time I finally take the plunge, I feel good and am so glad it’s done, even if it didn’t ruin out in the way I envisioned it. I often learn something in the process, it turns out either okay or better than I thought, or I love with the errors and enjoy it (and am reminded about what I learned). Thanks and happy new year, friend!

      I absolutely know what you mean about the fear of finishing and with quilting in particular. I have had plenty of unfinished quilt tops! :) Like you, I've found that getting the to end and having the finish feels so good! And yes, I always seem to learn something new!

    Hello Misty, so much great information to gleam from your video. Like you my best advise is not to do finishing all at once. Walk away and breath. It makes the finishing seem effortless. Comes together just as you thought it would. Thank you. Happy New Year.

    Thank you Misty for your finishing tips. The white paper will help to decide the proper look. I did my first finished ornament for an exchange in November and did it in stages. That was really helpful for me. I also finished a pillow last May for another exchange . I have many more finished pieces that need to be fully finished. I am feeling more confident. I am going to get to these in the New Year! Cheers! 🎄🎉🧑🏻‍🦰🇨🇦

    • @MistyPursel
      @MistyPursel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's awesome, congrats on doing those finishes! Working on something in stages can be so helpful! It reduces overwhelm and then you aren't waiting for the "perfect block of time" to get it all done. You can just work on it in bits knowing you'll get it finished.
