What an experience!
It’s a housing crunch in most cities in Canada.
I came in Jan 2022, moved straight to school in London Ontario. Luckily my program office helped with house hunting n settlement while I was back home. The agency visited the homes on our behalf n sent us videos. They also helped with the paperwork. It was fairly affordable.
But after school was when I sha cried cos I move to Toronto this May.
I had to offer 5-months rental payment upfront for my unit, even with my job offer, my education & work experience here in Canada, it was so difficult. I was even scammed during my search.
It’s so challenging & gradually becoming a sorry state, I hope newcomers get more informed about this before moving.
Hopefully the government is looking into it.

waooo what a story, I came to Canada like a Queen 20years ago, from the airport to my own house because my husband was already living here in Canada 🇨🇦 lucky me. today I spend me time in Nigeria 🇳🇬 more than Canada 🇨🇦 summer in Canada and winter in Nigeria 🇳🇬 that is my life now thanks be to GOD. congratulations to you and your family.

Traveling with children is very difficult. I traveled with my 18 month old son from Zaria to New Delhi India.and it was not a piece of cake. Later me, my husband and our two children traveled from New Delhi to Los Angeles through Bangkok Thailand. It was also difficult but a lot easier with my husband with us. Thank God you guys got a place you like❤. To the glory of God that 18mos old toddler is now a 28 year man doing his residency program and my daughter is now 26yrs and out of law school. God will also help your children to become established in Jesus mighty name!!!!Amen

I can understand the struggles because when I landed last year in December during the winter. It was so hectic and frustrating but in the end, we settled in after 2 months of a thorough search. The land will favour you in Jesus name. Amen.

Wow! What an experience! I’m sorry you had to go through all that. Sadly, I’ve heard of similar tales from other newcomers to Halifax in Nova Scotia too and other cities across Canada. We came to Canada over 7 years ago and fortunately, we got a place before we left Nigeria. You are right, back in the day in Halifax, some landlords would offer you pay one month, get one month free. You could even get a referral bonus if you get to refer a tenant to them. All that one no dey again o, getting an accommodation now seems like world war IV. I hope the government does more in this housing crisis. It’s getting really hard and it’s painful to see people go through this. Welcome to Canada once again Neze ❤️. Me and my large family ( including one year and 2 months old baby) did that too cos I didn’t want stress or to start moving up and down in a new land so before relocating from Spain to United Kingdom I rented an apartment and pay for 3 months even though I knew we weren’t moving in another 2 months still I went ahead paid for it and have rest of mind, 2 months later we flew and straight from airport we boarded airport taxis to our home. No stress at all, relocating with children isn’t easy especially if your husband isn’t available at the moment due to unforeseen circumstances. May your new country favour u darling ❤

Awwwww...your issues with Lufthansa and housing were not part of my own relocation journey in as much as we moved about the same time. Thankfully you are settled now, i am not even as good in planning as you but i guess things just worked out better for us. We had someone stand in for us & did all the paper work for the house though the agency for housing knew we were coming from Nigeria. The friend who stood in and acted as guarantor saved the day. I guess the landlords are more afraid than using an agency on rental, they acted professionally and were even available to welcome us when we landed. It was such a smooth ride from Calgary airport straight to our home in Lethbridge. I love you spirit, it never gets dampened.
In our time (the good old days)🙂. When there was no airbnb, we relied on the generosity of those who have gone before us to provide accommodation for the time before we are able to get our own. It had its own issues too o. But, like your story, it works out in the end. May the Lord continue to guide you and give you the good of the land🙏🏾. Thanks for sharing.

This was just our experience when myself and my family relocated to the uk last winter. We saw shege pro max😂. The hardest part was that moving luggages, I dreaded it 😭😭😭 But all na history now just like you said o jare. And your house was worth the wait finally 😊
