    As a 36 year developmental coach who has coached players of all levels, beginners, NCAA Champ and low level professionals, you are 100% correct on all 5 points. Gets old fixing players who have been taught these myths. So much poor info out there...hard for a newbie parent to know what is fundamental and what is myth.

      Thank you so much for your contribution to the video! Yes, frustrating how much bad info is still out there. Best, John

    I have watched almost 100 serve videos on you tube and must say you have the most impresssive contents. I used to use my wrist before but not any more but sometimes during tense situations after say 2 hours of play my old habit resurfaces.

      Thank you very much! I am glad you have found my instruction helpful. I have studied the serve extensively for years, and have established a unique system of teaching it. Stay tuned, as every video this month is about the serve. In fact, I am the key presenter on the serve in the upcoming Tennis Summit. Let me know if you want a link of information on the Summit. Thanks, John

    Terrific teaching! Thanks! Q: any specific drill or exercise to help lift the back leg heel. That was a specific detail i had somehow missed from your previous content and I believe will be a key to improving my balance and power. I remain very grateful to you for all this teaching you provide!

    Would it be completely wrong to serve with your lead foot 🦶 pointed forward? Should your lead foot always be on the side parallel to the baseline?

    • @PerformancePlusTennis
      @PerformancePlusTennis  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your great question. Honestly, I can't think of any purpose for having the front foot pointing forward when trying to achieve a great serve. Ideally the foot should be between 45 degrees and parallel to the baseline. Best regards, John

    Regarding tip#3, I remember a few highly regarded instructors (e.g. Macci, Kovacs) recommending to put more weight on the back foot than front (60% back, 40% front) at trophy phase. Do you agree with that?

    • @PerformancePlusTennis
      @PerformancePlusTennis  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi, No, I don't agree. I have studied this very closely myself, and I believe that the ideal weight distribution is balanced between both legs...how would it be better to emphasize one leg over the other vs. the equal / balanced power of both legs? Yes, we do see style variations (more weight on the back or front leg) such as Stan Wawrinka, but for most (especially rec players) the equal balance and alignment that results is ideal. I hope this helps and makes sense. Stay tuned, as every video this month is about the serve. In fact, I am the key presenter on the serve in the upcoming Tennis Summit. Kovacs is the one who advocated the short-putt technic for serve. Absolute rubbish. Kovacs has since abandoned that absurd theory!

      @@laurencecorray Thanks for your comment and contribution to the video. I did not hear that he has abandoned the shot-putt theory, but I hope so...it never made any sense to me.
