She can have her paycheck and pay her bills. Sometimes both people having access to all the money does not work. His income is $150,000 so he can catch up the mortgage. Oh, and here's what needs to happen right away - CLOSE all the credit cards that are in your name or your joint names and put a credit FREEZE on your social security number so she cannot open any more credit in your name. These steps come before marriage counseling. I don't know why the RS people don't recommend credit freezes in these situations.
Question for future episode: My house payment is at 2.5%, 75k left. I now have the funds to pay it off. I can get a CD that pays me almost 6%. Should I pay off the house or buy the CD's?

His answer is always in favour of not having any debt. Yes you can arbitrage this, but from a DR principles perspective you’ll have more peace if you have no payments.

Cuz got scammed in BC, Canada. Started with a piercing sound, like a siren, coming from her laptop that would not stop. Someone "came to the rescue" thru the pc, and told her to follow their instructions. Involved getting gift cards from a corner store. The store warned her after several $500 cards but she was too fearful of not following instructions. Stumbling to her bank, almost incoherent, asking to withdraw more cash, staff saw her state of mind, knew it was a fraud & really came to her rescue. The fraudsters were caught and her money returned. What would you do if you heard a siren sound coming from your pc???
The problem is his business was bringing in enough money for him to make that much, and now his business is making him $17 an hour. Either he needs to get his business back on track, or he needs to drop it and get a job making more. You can sneeze and hit a job paying $25 these days.

How exactly would cutting overtime tax make the business owner more money? If your argument is the employees would work more and therefore make more product to sell, I’d think that employers would rather hire additional personnel (maybe even part time without benefits) than pay an extra 50% for wages.

Some of his advice (not all) is way out of touch. Like a 15 yr mortgage at only 30% of your income is impossible for most.
