Great band , fantastic live. From my home town Melbourne. This s how he sings. He has done some great collaborations in Oz.

I am an old lady and was brought up in Australia listening to “black” voices. I remember listening to Bessie Smith, Louis Armstrong, Harry Belafonte among others before the great days of 60’s soul. Australia, the UK and Europe readily embraced “black” music very early. The Tesky Brothers have been touring overseas for a few months now. I hope you get to hear them live. There is a live performance of Hold Me where the group follow Josh down into the audience when they all begin singing acapella.

For more Australian soul, might want to check out one of Australian music's best. Check out "Stone Cold" by Jimmy Barnes with Joe Bonamassa

I heard them for the first time three weeks ago. I saw that they were performing in Philadelphia at the Met the following week. My son and I went to the show. It was an amazing experience. Two and a half hours of killer vocals and musicianship.

Love anyone who appreciates the Teskey Brothers. Saw them twice last year. Absolutely phenomenal live. You really should do one from their latest album. I remember the time, or London Bridge. Fabulous sound. Otis Redding 2.0

This is the first reaction video of Rain, by Josh Teskey, where the song was talked over.

@cmt89497 I learned of Josh through a reaction video, and quite a few others, I am so in love with the song that I wanted to hear it, and not interruptions. I'll listen again. 😊

@@cmt89497 I just listened to it again, and I think they could have commented after the song. The song is magically sung, and the interruptions were done at key points.

He definitely was channelling Otis Redding....for sure lol. Josh Teskey of The Teskey Brothers has done some amazing duets.....one in particular I know you'd both love is A duet with Australia's best female artist Delta Goodrem. They do a cover of Australian rock group INXS 'Never Tear Us Apart' like and subbed saying 'Hi' from Australia

I love the Tesley brothers, I listen all the time, I love old gospel, Ottis Redding soul, if you notice he's basically singing from his diaphragm, I listen to then he always hold the upper part of him stomach Diaphragm , it's amazing. Like he's lost within him self , great artist , takes you home

Dr. J is absolutely right about his observation of todays soul music. The mainstream music industry doesn't think that this kind of music makes the radio for black artists and it seems that having actual musicians with instruments in a studio is no longer favored. But there have been exeptions, Bruno Mars did great numbers with the retro sound. Could you imagine someone like Usher, Beyonce, Bruno, or WKND doing a complete album of only retro soul with a horn section, Hammond organ and backup singers done and documented at Stax or Muscle Shoals? I think it would break the media.

While I respect your option I can’t agree with you saying about black v white singers and that it would be better sang by one or the other, your friend didn’t know the colour of the singer! Regardless of colour the guy has amazing talent, same goes for teddy and Chris. Their voices are natural and I don’t believe it hurts their vocal cords. It’s just music to be enjoyed. 👍🏻
