The Brothers are from Melbourne, Australia. The problem with the music industry today is that they want what appeals to pop and comes through the TV talent shows. These boys played pubs and small gigs for a long time, Every country has hidden gems Like the Teskey's because they start as an underground movement in their local areas.
I discovered The Teskey Brothers a few years ago and I’m so glad they are getting their recognition now. Josh Teskey to me is Otis Redding, Joe Cocker and Sam Cooke reincarnated into one Australian white guy.
@carpediem4887 He's better than Otis didn't didn't put that much control like this man. That's hard for me to say. I have alot of Otis music this is the music I was raised on.
A cross between Otis Redding and Joe Cocker with a dash of St. Paul and the Broken Bones (Paul Janeway). What a voice, what a song! Can a voice get any more soul into it than that? Beautiful reaction. Can't wait for the Teski Bros to come my way on tour.
gosh dam.... what a voice! WOW... this is what i love about youtube... about music.. finding them gems! this is definitely GOLD. what a song man... i found another new favorite sad slow ballad love song of a broken heart. these lyrics are great and man you can feel the pain n the emotion bc of his voice and its expression. this is what i call great soul music. this song could be done real good with just 1 acoustic guitar.... but boy ya better b able to sing like this or it probably wont sound right, but then again some songs you just dont mess with and really to b truthful this is 1 of them. absolutely perfectly done.
Check out their song Hold Me (Live at the Forum) - it'll blow your mind! It's one of those gems that goes straight on everyone's playlist when they hear it 😊
Hello Asia & BJ 🥰 This song is actually Josh Teskey solo w/o his brother. This is my absolute fav by him/them. He a vanilla Otis Redding.😍 My favorite of theirs is “Forever You and Me”. Perfect wedding first dance song. 💘
My daughters boyfriend suggested this artist.... I had never heard of them. How is that possible to be this talented with such limited exposure? Most of my favorite bands came by way of suggestions from friends and family; Of Monsters and Men, Alabama Shakes, Chris Stapleton, Fleet Foxes, Marcus King, Mark Broussard, Jack Johnson, Khruangbin, and Leon Bridges are but a few. Finding bands like these keeps me constantly looking at new artists in hopes a few of them are able to connect with me. I get so damned excited when I find one.......makes this 65 year-old body feel like 21 again!
@Glenn Burch have you heard of John Farnham , Cold Chisel lead singer, is JimmyBarnes (eventually went solo) still cranking out music in his 60's, Johnny Diesel (who happensto be Jimmy's brother-in-law)? They are all Australian icons.
@@glennburch1081 all the bands you named are all bands I love as well!! Most of those bands have outstanding lead singers!! Those bands would much rather stay true to their own music instead of getting super famous doing pop crap!! Do it for the love of the music not the frame!!
I can listen to this song by Josh Teskey again and again. The meaning of this song hits my soul and brings tears to my eyes. This was like hearing Otis Redding singing from Stax Records in the mid 1960's. Then find out the Teskey Brothers wrote this song in 2019. Another song you would love to hear will blow your mind is "Iron Sky" Abbey Road Live Session by Paolo Nutini (2013).
What a pleasant surprise! Been requesting this on your channel for some time, mostly on the livestreams but better late than never haha. 8:22 This is a Teskey Brothers original written song, sounds reminiscent of Otis Redding “These Arms of Mine” with a bit of Joe Cocker thrown in as someone mentioned in the comments section earlier. So, the video only features lead singer Josh Teskey but the rest of the band is his brother, Sam Teskey the lead guitarist hence the Teskey Brothers (only 2 of the brothers in the band lol) then you have their friends, Liam Gough on drums and Brendon Love on bass plus their horns & keys section as well. For another unique voice from Australia, check out _”Miracle Love” (Live At Manchester Cathedral)_ by *Matt Corby* , he’s soooo good 👍🏾.
I was shocked and so happy that you all were reacting to this song. Someone else reacted to this 2yrs. ago, and I was hooked on this song every since then.
And another lesser known voice that I’ll put up there with Teskey is Paul Janeway of St Paul & the Broken Bones, you should check out “Grass is Greener (OurVinyl Session)”, you’ll be equally as stunned…actually, probably much more stunned lol. You won’t believe the voice that comes out of this dude.
I love the look of amazement and confusion at the same time when people first watch the Teskey Bros. They have soooo many amazing songs, please check out silver moon, hold me, crying shame, pain and misery etc
Yeah guys, Josh Teskey's voice is subliminal. The band is spot on, there's so much to look & enjoy. Pick Paint My Heart or Pain & Misery. Mind you, if you want gospel go Hold Me. Great reaction 👍🤘🙂🙂❤
It's that Motown sound for sure. They like to record on old analog equipment. No digital. Even the chord progressions are very reminiscent of that old 60's Motown soul sound.
I close my eyes to absorb the music and the emotional connection. When I’m listening and feeling this song, I feel pain as it would come from a tragedy, like a mans having a confession about how he hurts so deeply knowing how others struggle with being alone as if he is living that right now.
You are born with the voice you sing with but the heart and soul of a singer isn’t just a performance it’s an experience/communication between the performer and the audience. Some of us can’t sing in tune but we feel that “great” voice not just in our hearts but on a cellular level. This voice, Josh’s voice is akin to all the great singers I have been listening to since the 1950’s. And in Australia we have never ever cared what colour your skin was … if you had a voice that appealed to us, we loved you. I grew up listening to Bessie Smith and have never forgotten the line “I’m a steamroller baby and I’m gunna roll all over you”. My friend’s older brother playing Harry Belafonte, Ray Charles, Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong etc, it’s no wonder we adored Jimi Hendrix, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, Tina Turner, B.B. and so many more singers of every colour with soul in their voices and I haven’t forgotten singers like Joe Cocker, the Righteous Brothers and Rod Stewart among others who have inspired Australian talent. 70+ years, a lifetime of ❤️ everything from opera to heavy rock, but soul is where I always close my eyes and feel not just the music but the words.
The first time I heard this it was literally revolutionary for me... Even his "missed" notes are genius. Even adding to the character of the message. Listen to the studio versions like you do with other artists... I HIGHLY recommend Pain and Misery, Carry You, Hold me, and So Caught Up as well.
So Caught Up is a great song. My daughter introduced me to this Australian band a couple of years ago. She sent me the song and said I think you’ll like this song. She was right!
The Teskeys are amazing. Please check out Pain and Misery bt them well! That whole album is 🔥! Another band I started to listen to around the same time is Black Pumas. They have since become popular with their song Colors but my recommendation is the song October 33!
As someone said in another reaction video he has that voice you can't sing happy songs too. It's all gotta be blues and you should check out another hit called say you'll do, Also pain and misery and I get up but the version with bahamas who is a phenomenal guitarplayer from toronto canada❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for this ... if you are going to do growling and wailing Aussie soul/blues artists you need to get some Jimmy Barnes on your plate. Try Jimmy Barnes featuring Joe Bonamassa on Stone Cold (official video).

Warrandyte boys made good.
City and Color is/was exactly that kind of hidden gem, I think from Canada
Good. Don't want these lot to sell their souls and get their souls and music effected
Well said.
Boys from Australia doing it right.... Yes they are Australian...

I agree he’s got that Otis Redding vibes so scary
He is an Otis Redding impersonator basically
And Ray Charles.
Otis would be proud. He reminds me of Joe tex too. Roy C I could go on and on. This music is my favorite type of music period.
@carpediem4887 He's better than Otis didn't didn't put that much control like this man. That's hard for me to say. I have alot of Otis music this is the music I was raised on.
Soul, that's the genre you were looking for. Blues and soul.
I have never heard this man. I definitely will be listening to him again!!💕💕
He’s an absolute beast!! I found them about a year ago!! Love them!!

Love all the bands you listed and the Teskeys! I'll Be Your Woman by St. Paul and the Broken Bones is amazing!
@@BaLLeRJ06I love Burning Rome by them too. They are great live and so are the Teskey Brothers.
Grass is greener and broken bones and pocket change are fuckin epic as well
You would never have guessed that the great Soul Brother Otis Redding was reincarnated as an Aussie bloke.
LOL
Just like him?
Facts Jack. But, I’m here for it. ❤

I love The Teskey Brothers. Their other music is definitely worth checking out
They are incredible live. They received one of the highest music honors in Australia this year. May want to check out Louis Baker as well.

The cracks in his voice make him sound more soulful

The EM of soul.

I gave them a listen and immediately added to a playlist. Thanks for the recommendation
Music doesn't care about the Color of Your Skin. IT'S ALL ABOUT WHATS INSIDE? SOUL!

This dumbass here😂😂😂
You should hear him sing drown in my own tears unreal
He has the voice that can cover Allman brothers songs
He's singing on his own, about being alone, hence the film clip. Go hard my Aussie bro.
your guys faces lol ... he does have some soul it hits you outta nowhere. him and marcus king and a few others
If you like that then the Teskeys doing “Paint My Heart” is brilliant as well.
