these look great!! I want a combo of the two. I like the front flipper and the blade shape but I want that detent system not the lock. Let us get a Case Shield on these too!!!!
Those are some nice looking knives! Can't wait. I like them both but would really like to see the drop point on the flipper liner lock.

Traditional Case customers are not used to paying $169. Great looking knives and at a higher average ticket. Hope it works well for you. Price is not always the determining factor but it is always a factor. I expect it’ll work out

Also, they preview these new items, but they take months and months to get to the dealers.

I love that these are being made this way... only thing I am curious about is, what is case doing about the heat treat on these steels? I hope that they are getting the 20CV done a bit harder than the S35VN and magnacut... as Case has been leaving them a bit soft....
Couldn't agree more, had two case frame locks in magnacut poked at the machine shop and both poked with a 3 poke avg of sub 61. Totally unacceptable. I've willing to be they will run "CPM 20" lol 20cv at a 59 target +-1. So your gonna get 58-60rc 20cv with most being in then high 58s to low 59s... 20cv under 61 Is just silly, 62-63 and the steel shines.. there's no reason we are getting these steels ran so soft by some companies. Paying a premium for high performance steels that are ran well below the hardness where the steel really shows its performance. I'm curious to know where they are targeting "cpm 20" but even if you get one that's at 60 its still to soft to really perform. We need these companies to start giving us steels that are ran at the upper end of the optimal RC range. Getting steels that have a optimal range from 58 to 63-64 and them doing them at 58-59 because it's "optimal" is really hurting the consumer as the steels don't preform no where near what they should when done like that. Prime example is that sub 61 magnacut on those two case frame locks.. I cut test them both and I'm getting about 10% more edge retention (my card board cut test and dirty rolled denim cut test that I do) out of it then what average run of the mill China 14c28n is getting... that's not cool! In sorry but when MC is ran at 60hrc its nothing more then a Powdered 14c28n in performance and at a high mark up because it's the current hype steel.

Highbanks looks pretty sweet as well, but I have 3 other 'double detent slipjoints' and I just don't get it. I like the knives, but I never carry them. Use them as a letter-opener or to peel an apple, but that's about all they'll do for me. I'd love to see the Highbanks as a proper slipjoint or a lockback or a linerlock, but I'll never buy another 'double-detent folder' in my life🤷♂
Also I think Case would do well to offer a stonewashed or a beadblasted pocketclip, and maybe have some premium variants with integral bolsters+liners, be that in brass, aluminum, titanium or nickel-silver ... do something completely different but still familiar🤩

The modern traditional market has been around for years. Glad Case has been working on a product line for that niche. I’m surprised they didn’t get a custom maker to produce a modern traditional design for them. Either way, hope Case does well.
I live about an hour away from there and the Kinzua dam area is absolutely beautiful.

Southside jimmy K here- These new Case knives look very interesting, esp . for people like me that carry 2-3 knives every day. Most U.S . made knives are get'in too damn expensive . My normal carry is a modern folder, a Case trapper and a Soddy, Now, it will be great to carry all the same American made EDC brand. We'll be checking on the quality control too !!!!
Wish Case would make a thinner yellow handle sodbuster in chrome vanadium that was assisted opening.
Instead of the double detent, they should have kept it a slipjoint. The detent system is not safe at all.

Agreed, I truly think they are doing too much and too many models period and it's starting to show bad, 20cv is pointless if not heat treated properly... And I'm guessing it won't be.
I’m happy about the 20CV it’s nice to see them get away from the surgical steel bullshit. But like you say it’s prolly not gonna be heat treated right so it’s not gonna matter. I’m hoping that the price of 160 is gonna be msrp and not Street price but I am expecting to be wrong. And as to him comment of he doesn’t know any other brand putting those materials at that price point that is still an American company doesn’t hold much weight when those companies are putting out products at a lower cost and higher quality than Case has achieved in decades. And this is has been a big thing with legacy American companies for years now, take buck for example

I really dont get this false narrative that "Case isn't what it used to be". It feels to me like an excuse people use to justify them being into other brands or all the modern hoopla. I've made many many purchases from Case and have never once had an issuse with anything I've bought. Great American company and im proud to be a collector of Case knives! ✌️

I love the way it looks. But that double detent looks super weak. Wish it'd have been a strong traditional spring. And probably should be Ti instead of aluminum in parts

Love the looks but not getting the black pocket clip. Sticks out like a sore thumb.
Still that same ridiculous pocket clip that ruined the Marilla 2 years ago. It sticks out 8mm from the handle, (it looks like the long tail C in the Case logo) but the screw heads are so big, it still takes 2 hands to put it into a regular jeans pocket.
Well I'm kind of disappointed I was hoping for the whittle to come out of the vault

Big crooked gaps between the scales, and bolsters. Especially on the first one. If that's what they show in their advertising, how bad will the actual production knives be?
Case needs step it a notch flat grind, fixed blades
Sod buster and only ever found one it’s a single blade that looks like the case hunter

Case really needs to flush fluted screws on the pocket clip, their round head screws really suck, I had to replace mine with some Civivi screws on my Marilla.
Amen! I will not buy another Case until they fix this. No to the mushrooms under the pocket clip!
Last case I purchased I couldn’t even open an envelope without it tearing it, not cutting, brand new. Wonder if they expected me to finish sharpening it?
A lot (most?) Cases won't cut paper, or will barely cut paper out of the box. But maybe they have been addressing some of the other quality issues such the gaps in the liners because the last few Cases that I have received have been good other than the sharpness.

Looks like the same horrible clip that made the Marilla unusable.
Had to send 4 of the 6 case knives I bought last year in for warranty the week I got them. Quality is gone from this company. And the extensive turn around time on warranty service shows I am not alone.
What all did they have wrong with them?
@@gjk1504 I had a Trapper that blades were rubbing together excessively. Then a small Texas toothpick that was hitting blade edge to back on close. Then had two that were rubbing the liner (both small swell jack) then one of their backpocket Buffalo in S35vn. It had sharp slivers of the handle sticking out and was dull as a butter knife from factory. Not what I wanted from a $140 Case knife.
why doesn't anyone you make these with a left hand pocket clip? At least reversible !
Clip not flush mounted in the Handle, and even worse they are still using the domed screws for the Clip. This has been a pocket shredder on the Kinzua and Marilla and still will shred your pockets. Comon` even the Chinese can do it for wayyyy less money.This is just lazy.

I like the look at these but am really surprised they stuff with the same pocket clip screws.... Especially since I think every Kinzua video I Saw people who even liked them complain about the pocket clip screws.... Kind of crazy that nobody from Case took notice of any of that
Case knives are nice, you just have to buy one in person. Their quality control is awful.

I collect and love case knives but these look like a copy of ozark trail knives. :/
I would say 65% of every Case I have purchased has arrived defective in some way - so I sold off every Case I have and I simply do not trust them anymore even a little bit. My slipjoints are Lionsteel BestMan and Fox Cutlery Recoil Gunstock - you get titanium, wood, carbon fiber or Micarta, M390 and perfection in blade centering and fit and finish for less than these are offered at.
160 bucks.
