Sharing similar sentiment, I go back and forth on whether or not I like the Chronomaster Revival line. Some days I really like the variations of the A384 case and dials, and some days I think it's just ok. The design and aesthetics are unique, that's for sure, which is always good for the hobby 👌

I was seriously considering buying this watch. It was in my top three. No date is a huge plus as I ABSOLUTELY HATE a date at 4. By some miracle on a trip to Melbourne they had one in stock at The Hour Glass. I tried it on. I wanted to love it. But it was so underwhelming on the wrist. It just didn't feel like it was worth 12k AUD. And the wrist feel was...odd. Just imbalanced and weird. Ended up with a 2021 Speedmaster Sapphire Sandwich. I love it. Some might say its a boring choice but I feel its an absolute classic. And the discount provided was substantial which made me even happier. I still have me eyes on a Proplof (titanium black dial), a Navitimer 1959 reissue and a Quai de I'ile blue dial. My other watch is a Tudor Pelagos. Love that too. Thanks for all the great content on your channel, especially the Proplof video.
They definitely have them (and every other Zenith imaginable) stocked at Bhindi jewelers in Los Angeles. Yesterday I was there trying on the Rolex Explorer 1 (I know, I know...they have one completely shrink-wrapped in plastic with a non-functioning movement inside). Afterward, I asked the dealer about Zenith. She told me that entire days go by where people don't even acknowledge that corner of the store. I believe the reason for this is that Zenith is the most over-priced and tacky-looking major watch brand.

I really like this watch. Looks great, the price might be a bit high, but overall it's a beauty. It almost looks like the matte finish is being polished in those spots. Maybe the high spots are rubbing on pockets and shirt cuffs and slowly being polished. That would be annoying and probably tough to refinish as you said.
I have an A384 Revival Liberty edition with an obviously red, white and blue motif. It’s an incredibly comfortable chronograph that wears well on many sized wrists. The case design is definitely modern with a vintage inspiration. The band is rubber with texture. Found out it was definitely rubber when my dog ate the entire band save the pin buckle and a small piece of rubber. I was able to get a replacement band very quickly. Great watch!!
Love the watch, it wears fantastically, but one thing that "bugs" me is that I can hear the click when the rotor winds the watch. It's a faint but high pitched click (same as when you wind the watch with the crown) and I can hear it randomly clicking even when it's on my wrist. It might be that the case it lightweight titanium and really it's mostly the movement :) Did you maybe notice that click too while wearing/handling the watch?
Beautiful watch I’ve tried it and loved it but as you said what happens if it start scratching .. not easy to polish like others and this is a serious problem except if you wear it with a glove

That is totally bizarre and I can't understand why Zenith deleted it. Someone actually took a decision in a meeting to render the watch pointless. It makes it staggeringly impractical. As for the finish? No way could you practically refinish that. And it will ding and scratch - it's blatantly Swiss cheese Grade 2, but I agree it would look good 'distressed.'

Thanks for the review - nice watch. Please note that it's incorrect to say as a blanket statement that "Titanium is 40% softer than steel". Some watches use grade 2 Titanium (for example Omega's 007 Seamaster). Grade 2 is 99.5% pure Titanium and is indeed softer than the industry standard 316L steel. On the other hand, other watches (for example the Blancpain Air Command) use grade 5 Titanium - this is an alloy and its hardness is ~30% higher than 316L steel. What does this Zenith use? I don't know - but my guess is grade 2. Regarding your question: is it "refinishable" - I'm willing to bet that it's not and personally I dislike it a lot. If they wanted to do a black watch they should've gone with ceramics.
While I think it's a cool watch, I couldn't help by thinking my Mission to Mercury MoonSwatch has a very similar aesthetic for a LOT less money, especially after I put a darker gray ADPT NATO strap on it. Excellent review, as always. The British "that's interesting" part made me chuckle. I didn't realize it before, but I often use that word in the same British way.
I wonder, If placed on a table alongside a MoonSwatch Mission to the Moon and offered (one or the other) to randomly-selected non-watch people, how many would pick the MoonSwatch. Could be interesting...
Look, I love the A384 dearly, and I appreciate the novelty but the blacked-out style and texture makes this look like a moonswatch, and apparently the color rubs off like one too. Can't say I'm a fan. One question though: does this movement variant hack? That's always bugged me about El Primeros.
The point of this watch is to be expensive and not look the part. If you feel like it looks like a cheap knockoff like the moonswatch does, then you're just not the focus group of the black zenith.
I love this, but your caveats about how the finish will stand up over time has me scared…some watches look great with scars, but typically not when the case has a treatment to wear off…
Eeek, quite a pricey piece when there are a quite a few alternative options in that price range. Saying that, nice to have something refreshing and not just a repeat of the typical items on offer.
@@andrewmetropoulos1692 that’s a great question actually and you got me thinking. This watch is very unique so that’s what I like about it. For the money I would be tempted to rather have the Zenith Chronomaster Original or the El Primero. If you needed a Chrono there are also Omega Speedies in various colours. Also a Breitling Premier Heritage in Pistachio colour. Personally for around ten k I would try and get a Tudor black bay panda and an Omega Aqua Terra 41 in green and have two watches on that price range. Only problem of course is that it’s not very original
@@henkvandebeek7921 By your own admission the one thing you dont get from your proposed alternatives, is the uniqueness. Speedmaster, Breitling and even the Zenith Original are like sand on a beach compared to this one. Simple explanation: Most people who spend upwards of 6K want the watch to look the part. Show this watch and an "hommage" gold rolex to 100 people and 95 are gonna pick the fake Rolex as the more expensive watch. Even people who understand that Omega and Breitling are couple grand, might not know Zenith or might at least underestimate the value of a blacked out version completely. And all that is the beauty of this watch that you dont get with many other brands.

It's a nice looking watch and of course it is a Zentih, but the case looks like a Moonswatch.
