    Awgghhh thank you for sharing the chinese-filipino history❤️ it’s nice to know that the chinese made the Philippines as their second home during world war. They were resilient in finding a stable, safe and happy country 🥰

    Nice video information! Just to share, I have Filipino Chinese friends and when they are here in the Philippines, they always talk about their Chinese heritage and identity. But when they are outside of the Philippines, they solely identify as Filipino.

    Growing up I always wanted to know more about our Filipino history and I am so grateful I found your channel! Your videos are so entertaining and well put together- As a woman who embraces femininity, I felt so empowered watching your video on the Babaylan lol. Can you cover the topic of pre-colonial gods/deities that were worshipped (i.e.. Bathala, Mayari)?

    This video was great!! I work for a family from Hong Kong & many of my friends are Chinese and I was always curious why we had soo many cultural similarities & shared traditions with Chinese aswell as why many soo many people from Luzon look Chinese and have Chinese names. Recently I visited my Fillipino friend and he was speaking Fookkien with his family, since then I’ve been studying alot about the Chinese-Fillipinos

    My great, great grandfather was said to also have entered the Philippines around that time when many were fleeing from Fujian. I only know that they registered the surname as Tancioco, and they settled in Pulilan, Bulacan and our relative said our ancestor's name is cio co tan. I don't know how real this is though. All I know is we only get a chinese sounding surname if one has a Chinese ancestor.

    The left photo of a woman obviously looks like Sangley( mixed filipino-chinese), but the right one, I believe she was a mixture of either filipino-spanish or sangley and spanish . You could tell by her features ,especially her deep seated eyes.

    This is a very interesting part of PH history for me. I took one of those DNA tests and found out I was 45% Chinese Hokkien (Quanzhou) + Cantonese (Guangdong) and 54% Filipino (Luzon) but have a Spanish last name. Relatives told me it was because of Spanish ancestry that we looked a bit different but I have 0% Spanish and was actually Half Chinese the entire time LOL

      @@xXxSkyViperxXx where not a Chinese, were Austronesian, our ancestors are Aeta, Malays and Indones...we are colonized for over 300+ years so we are more Hispanic than to be a Chinese.

    • @xXxSkyViperxXx
      @xXxSkyViperxXx 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@NBS-rk8bl lol what they taught u in school is outdated already. austronesians did not come from aeta. aeta are negritos who have been in the philippines, taiwan, and ryukyu for around 46 thousand years already. meanwhile austronesians only came around 4 thousand years ago to the philippines, coming from taiwan who themselves a thousand years ago also came from today's southeastern china, tracing back to the yangtze estuary. also, it makes no sense in the first place to say that austronesians in the philippines supposedly came from "malays and indonesians". Malay is an ethnic group initially from southwestern borneo that later spread to the malay peninsula, sumatra, java, and beyond. Indonesian or "Indones" in tagalog is a modern nationality that only sprang up in the 20th century. it makes no sense to say that austronesian ethnic groups in the philippines came from them. that is outdated info provided by american prof Henry Otley Beyer in UP during the american colonial era, near 100 years ago already. Also, hokkien chinese migrants and merchants have been trading and living in the philippines for 1 thousand years already ever since late tang dynasty and song dynasty times, especially during early spanish colonial era. open up the vocabulario de la lengua tagala from 1613 and you will see even the spanish friars recorded that the tagalog elderlies called the chinese as "Langlang" even before and today chinese filipinos still call themselves "Lannang" or "Lanlang" or "Nannang". one does not need to be austronesian to be "Filipino". in fact, the first Filipinos were the spaniards born and raised in the Philippines, since the very word "Filipino" itself is from spanish and the very first people called as such were the local filipino insulares whose ancestors conquered the land that makes the Philippines today... Jose Rizal, Emilio Aguinaldo, Andres Bonifacio, Manuel Quezon, Sergio Osmeña, etc were themselves chinese mestizos...

      Most Filipinos have spanish surnames, but that doesn't mean most Filipinos have spanish blood. When all the natives were converted to Catholicism by Spain ,they also changed the name of every places into spanish, as well as given every natives a spanish surnames to identify them.

Surely there's been mixing going on for centuries like in other former Spanish colonies during colonisation. Educate me please. Peace and respect

    The antique Victorian photo on the right in thumbnail is an unknown subject and noone knows her background. China is violating the rights and livelihood of Philippine fishermen, dumping enough human waste into the Philippine sea to be visible from outer space, and I see many disparaging and degrading comments from Chinese about Philippine descent people.

      Filipino DNA consists of 36% East Asian (China, Japan, & Korea), but I believe that out of three,Chinese is at the top of it ,followed by Japanese and rarely Korean cos Chinese and Japanese were already in the islands during pre colonial time. There were tatar( Mongolians) also living in the islands during that time, so there you are! Enjoy being you 😊.

      Depends on whether both sides' parents have Chinese ancestry. If only one side has Chinese ancestry, you probably have a very little percentage as genes get diluted, unless the new generation continues to marry someone with the same lineage.The only way to find out is to get a DNA test.
