A few years ago I discovered a musical act from Kinsasha named Tshegue. The video for their song "The Wheel" follows a pack of kids on inline roller skates as they hitch rides from trucks on the highway at speed! Crazy stuff, but the music is highly infectious, simultaneously technological and primitive, with a driving beat that never stops. The video for their song "Muanapoto" tells the story of a teenage girl with a hearing disability who lives in the slums. At least that's what it seemed to me watching it. The song is not in English or French. At any rate, it's nice to think, even if it may not be true, that James Brown inspired that music too.
