On the topic of broken angle grinder discs, thats why I always keep a good stock of new discs. A quick check is always made of how many I have in stock when planning jobs. Its alway a treat to see your happy smiling face 😊
Grand job if you havnt messed around wth diff tools b4 its hard to work out the little tricks to make it easy but your getting there you now know how to drill screws in on an angle

Happy birthday Karen. Just some advice, you are using the angle grinder the wrong way around, the sparks should be coming out towards you not away from you (I know it sounds silly) but I am correct. You need to put the handle into the other side and rotate the safety guard around. You will notice a massive difference when you use it this way. 👌👍

Well done sticking with it you are right,y proud of yourself. You said the wood was hard, when it’s like that if you put the hammer on on the drill (assuming it has that function) you may find it helps to get the screws started.
Think of it differently. Not struggling but learning. Isn't it good to know that if you have to gutter again you now know that you can. Pre drilling for awkward holes (and at a cheeky bit of an angle to gain space) can really help. ❤
Karen, I really admire your tenacity. I am sure you are fully aware of how extremely dangerous an angle grinder is. The most dangerous tool in the toolbox. Please be very conscious of your safety gear and of where everything is such as cables and potential fire hazards. TH-camrs building off grid in Canada had a potentially life changing experience with an angle grinder almost severing his arm and cutting his stomach open. He was lucky to survive. Angle grinders need extra, extra care and attention.

Just a tip but if you're putting screws into hardwood it's always best to put a pilot hole in first, if you're going to be up a ladder doing it get a tool belt round you. BTW do yourself a favour and get an impact driver, so much easier than using a drill driver!
