I don’t even think George was making jokes anymore at this stage in his career. He was going on rants that made people laugh because the subject matter was so ridiculous, yet true.
I've seen this happen in real life with myself and a few of my friends sometimes we'll just get on a rant about how absurd things are and how confused conservatives are about their own issues and we can't stop laughing. Carlin masterfully tapped into that and let everybody know that we're thinking the same thing which made us continue to question why is it still this way!!

You know why Carlin was so well loved? Because he told the honest truth and exposed people's bullshit. His knack for the English language and breaking down social, political, and economic issues makes him one of the most intelligent comedians ever. And to do that and make people laugh at the same time is pure genius. He basically told us we're all fuct and there's nothing we can do about and we just laugh ourselves to the grave.
He was one of the keenest observers of our time. Having said that, he gave many opinions that resonated with people but they were not necessarily true.

More than anything I think he got ppl to stop and think about what they accept as normal and question themselves and their government. The majority of ppl just do what they're told regardless of how much it infringes on their human rights but Carlin put a huge spotlight on those topics. Only Chappelle in my opinion hits as closely on his views on the world. But Carlin's mastery of the English language and his ability to rant nonstop without missing a beat is what makes him the GOAT. Chappelle a very very close 2nd.

As a former catholic and now atheist I have only just come across this video. George was brilliant at saying those things that many of us would like to express but fall short of saying them.

My husband and I were lucky enough to get to see him on his last tour, and he was wonderful. He literally came out and announced that he was going to clear out the folks who there because they had season tickets for that venue, and that was exactly what he did. It was glorious. We cracked up as we watched these people got up & left as they got offended by different things, and it just kept getting better & better!
I saw him on his last tour too, I remember he was reading from his notebook and started a joke about standing in line at McDonald’s and then he goes “oh…I fucked up the joke!” And moved on 😂 I really wanted to hear that joke
@@Mega_Mikey I remember that notebook & thinking over & over again about how much I would have loved to get my hands on that notebook for a night. 😹 Every time I think about that show or any time my husband and I talk about it, we always say something about how grateful we are that we got to see him live. We have been able to see some of the comedy heroes that have been hugely important & impactful to our lives over the course of our lives, and we are incredibly grateful for that. And Carlin is one of the greats.
I thought his religion rant was good (and it is), but this one was just damn near flawless. George Carlin was born 25 years too early. Can you imagine him delivering this sort of incisive insight with his inimitable comedic flair TODAY? Wow.
There were some like him in other countries. Volker Pispers from Germany made political satire (Kabarett) for more than 20 years about the same things and also stayed relevant like George over all this time.

Its so weird to hear him talk about this stuff because the whole 80% of fertilized eggs bit, and the cancer cells thing are stuff I never heard before and sort of just thought about in my head. Even if a fetus was considered a human being, it shouldn’t and doesn’t get special rights to violate a woman’s bodily autonomy against her will. That would be like arresting someone for not donating blood. Even dead people are protected from having their organs taken if they did not sign a waiver before hand. So why does a pregnant woman have less rights than a corpse?
So here's a question. How does an unborn child get consent to use his/her mother's body before hand? The woman made a choice to partake in the act that creates new life whether it be a broken rubber, bad birth control or just because they (theres always 2 parties involved) were intoxicated and thought it was a good idea at the time by consenting to sex you are also consenting to the consequences of sex whether that be regret or impregnation. Take responsibility for your decisions and the following consequences or dont make that decision. Also chicken eggs are considered omelettes because the eggs we eat havent been fertilized which means there is no baby chick growing inside it. Crazy that Mr. Carlin thinks farmers send fertilized eggs to the super market.

I've had arguments with people in TH-cam comments that say his material wasn't meticulously rehearsed. They'll say he's just riffing off the top of his head. The fact is he worked his material so that every word was gone over and over and perfected, and rehearsed until memorized.

He had been doing it for years before this, and he always managed to stay contemporary and relevant no gimmicks
George’s comedic timing was untouchable.
Indeed, Carlin's timing is beautiful. It's much like the tide; he hunches down, starts up slow and ramps up slowly but inexorably.

My husband and I were lucky enough to get to see him on his last tour, and he was wonderful. He literally came out and announced that he was going to clear out the folks who there because they had season tickets for that venue, and that was exactly what he did. It was glorious. We cracked up as we watched these people got up & left as they got offended by different things, and it just kept getting better & better!

@@Mega_Mikey I remember that notebook & thinking over & over again about how much I would have loved to get my hands on that notebook for a night. 😹 Every time I think about that show or any time my husband and I talk about it, we always say something about how grateful we are that we got to see him live. We have been able to see some of the comedy heroes that have been hugely important & impactful to our lives over the course of our lives, and we are incredibly grateful for that. And Carlin is one of the greats.

Take responsibility for your decisions and the following consequences or dont make that decision.
