Well, this was 1899 and Spanish (and a bit of French) was the only major neighboring language to English in America, so I suppose it's not too surprising that Arthur went with the only other language he's even remotely familiar with. Still pretty funny, though.
I remember riding to the house, but as I was about to start the debt collect, I stopped to go save the kidnapped woman I think that's the first one I actually saved
It’s a big clear cut when her husband’s name was literally Arthur. I think rockstar also implied that the dead Arthur also signifies the end of the old Arthur Morgan, making him a new man with a different outlook of the world
Playing High Honor was great in this game. When it came time to absolve the debt of that woman's husband and I saw the remorse in Arthur's eyes and it felt so powerful. Like he saw he was on the brink of starting another family down the checkered path he sent the Downes family on and couldn't bring himself to do that to another person, let alone another family. When he said "I'm sorry, ma'am. I really am." I knew he really was. Seeing him throw Strauss out of the camp after that, hearing Arthur call him a disgrace, not for sending him after the already poor and destitute, but because after some time he saw genuinely good people being steamrolled by him at Strauss's behest; I think in that situation I would've gutted Strauss. Maybe that makes high honor Arthur a better man than me but it sure as hell makes him one of the best characters I've ever seen.
I think arthur went too hard on strauss, he was shady af but lending money is legit. It was of arthur impetus to be an asshole and intimidate people like that

@@matthewdoss195 I don’t think that’s the take. The common regrets of a dying man is usually when they realises how short and precious life is and all the past actions tends to become clear. I think it’s less so about Arthur wanting to make an impression as I think he doesn’t care about things like that. He wanted to spend his last moments saving people from the mistakes of his own past, like believing and fighting for the wrong things and for the wrong reasons. He saves John because John reflected his life when he was younger; having a family, a loved one but blinded by loyalty. Saving Edith and her son because they lived in a life where both are working in horrible jobs that could kill them etc
Well for me imo you can see around like 3:25 he realizes what people do when you do good if you get what I’m saying and this is like chapter 4-5 I don’t remember
9:28 - If this weren't a pre-scripted scene, this is the moment when Arthur should have blown Micah's brains all over the wall and saved everyone a lot of pain and heartbreak later on.
if there was more freedom of choice I would have let Dutch and Sadie go on ahead and volunteer Micah with me to salvage things, then when they leave, strapped him to a post of the burning house, and tell Dutch Micah ran in to get more supplies before the house collapsed and pray that the boss buys it
You can feel that high honor is the way the game was meant to be played. It's what brought me some of the best moments I had in any video game. By far my favorite moment was the dialog between Arthur and sister Calderon at the train station. Honestly her "take a gamble that love exists and do a loving act" line hit me back when I first heared it, and it stuck with me ever since. I think it's a reminder not just Arthur but everyone needs from time to time that there is love out there as long as you're ready to accept it
@@capitcha not really. It's difficult to get significantly low honour unless you stay away from all actions that give you high honour (donating in camp, doing chores, not do stranger missions) and consistently kill & rob people, antagonise everyone. But when you do that... the game makes u sit with Mary Beth, tilly & Karen as arthur talks about how he doesn't feel good about his actions. I'm trying to get a low honour playthrough but even by killing most of van horn i hardly got to the red. Arthur would def rob coaches, trains, loot bodies & gun down gangs and not care to help strangers but in the mission where u take sadie out he says they don't go after people making an honest living. So canonically, arthur would never attack a town. He hated doing that while getting Micah out of strawberry. And canonically, he would donate to the camp, which gives u honour boost. So I'd say arthur starts off with a bit red to neutral honour, and keeps building it up till chapter 6, rather than him suddenly become a whole new person when he gets TB diagnosis. TL;DR : you aren't "supposed" to play with low honour. But of course you play however you desire. If you want to be full red and feel it fits, you do you, but I don't think that's canon to Arthur.
Damn, really? I actually didn't know that. I guess I just assumed Brother Dorkins had them covered. Probably cause I also try to refrain from taking from registers, due to the honor hits lol
R* is very good at portraying that good people exist in bad places. I think one of the best examples of this is in GTA 5 when you're playing as Franklin, some of the dialogue he has with other gang members is genuinely pretty sweet.
His interactions with Jimmy are pretty wholesome too. Jimmy is at his core a good kid but is very misguided and desperate for companionship and Franklin becomes something similar to a surrogate brother to him. Their hang-out interactions are pretty funny and wholesome.
Take the captives over to the register after freeing them and it gives you the option to give them the money this gives you extra honor and reminds you to take care of the poor
Arthur gave like 50 to 100 dollars to poor people and it was enough to give them new and happy lives. But the fucking 15k dollars in his satchel wasn't enough to give the whole gang of probably just 20 to 25 people a new life. Was Dutch planning to go to Tahiti or fucking buy the whole place
Honestly I wish that in the epilogue where you play as John Marston I wish there was another kind of mission that involved with the German family. Still with a strong German accent their English has improved quite a lot since 1899. Now in 1907 John meets these folks for the first time helping them. Andreas saying John reminds him of a feller that saved him a while back giving physical appearances. Even saying how he tried to help him after finding him passed out from his tuberculosis. This will then turn into the cutscenes of the old gang member reunions. Like the Charles Smith reunion there’s 4 different outcomes of when Arthur (low honer) saved John vs Arthur (high honer) saved John along with the same with Arthur going back for the money. “Arthur wasn’t a good man. But when his time was coming to an end, he searched for righteousness. “You and I must of have something in common partner. Arthur saved the both of us. He may not’ve shown it but deeped down inside...he truly was great man and gave everything to what mattered to him most”.
I love seeing how kind Charles towards other folks not related to his gang he joins way early on in the stories lore before the Red Dead Redemption 2 game starts
You know what might have been interesting? If during Arthur's last ride with high honor if German voices were heard saying, "You are a great man. A great man. It’s a shame Dutchman, completely insane in the end. He may not have been a good man, but he definitely wasn’t an evil man not at first anyway, which makes the brotherly relationship between him and Arthur more heartbreaking as the story continues renegade Arthur doesn’t have quite the same taste full story as the high honor/good guy Arthur which has a very inspirational and heartwarming story, even if it ends in tragedy, but if you think about it, it is somewhat fitting, considering the previous red dead had a similar ending. Perhaps one day we might get a red dead with a good ending, or the protagonist survives unlikely, considering the franchise seems to be stagnated or dead.
