SERGEY PROFOFIEV - VISIONS FUGITIVES OP. 22 - ALEX ALGUACIL, PIANO
A fascinating set of pieces, Visions Fugitives was created out of the spontaneous compositional style of Prokofiev, who would usually write down musical ideas as they occurred to him, to put them together later on. In 1915, five of these short pieces were born, and composed six more a year later. In 1917 he added the remaining nine, shaping a set of 20 miniatures that comprised different moods and characters individually and showed a logical sequence when performed as a whole.

This is one of the very best readings of these works I've heard in a long time. Back in 1971 I managed to work on the first 5 in my last year of college and had an LP with a young Russian woman's recording of these plus his 5th Sonata. Made the mistake of loaning the LP to my piano teacher......UGH. never do that again!

Michael Koshin's comment is yet another unsubstantial social media comments; something said just for the sake of saying something. Prokofiev's music is to be spread to the world, he himself would be happy to see musicians from all backgrounds playing his pieces.
Bravos on a great recording of my favorite pieces. I find your technique rivaling Matti Raekallio's and your interpretation refreshing.

Mikhail Koshin is an anti-sovetchik who is sick on the head.
His comment is not related to music and your performance.
Your performance of VISIONS FUGITIVES is fine. Emotionally exciting.
At the level of Maria Yudina, my favorite artist, I’m sorry, I hope I didn’t offend you by comparison.

only one who went through soviet hell can play this music as its composer meant it to be. otherwise what you do - just bring about the technics of it.

Thanks for your comment Michael. Your remark is somehow true in regard to the "war sonatas", but imo these early pieces are freer, more accesible and allow different interpretations. Thanks nevertheless.
