Corris Railway Number 10 first steam

- Corris Railway Number 10 is a modern reproduction of the original 3 Falcon locomotives which were built and delivered to the railway in 1878. Number 3 still survives but was bought by the Talyllyn railway in 1951, where she still works to this day.
We are building Number 10 to supplement our small fleet of locos, and to provide relief for our other steam loco, Number 7, which is coming up to it's 20th birthday in a couple of years.
We are still fundraising for the locomotive, to get it finished, but it has now been steamed, so it's 10 year boiler ticket is now running, so it's vitally important to complete it as soon as possible, so that we can get as much useful work out of it as possible before the boiler needs it's 10 year overhaul.

I'm sure the buffers are a necessity, but I kinda like No. 10 without the buffers. Reminds me of the Corris' older days.
But again, I'm sure the buffers are necessary for her to work on the Corris.
I can’t wait to see this new loco! It’ll be great to see a classic Corris shape where it originated.

Big Corris fan here as you can probably make out from my profile pic haha
I have always wondered why the Preserved Railway chose to use Talyllyn style buffers on all rolling stock, I mean even on the bogie carriages which had the smaller style buffers No.20 used in its early career? Anyway, hope to see No.10 in action next year when I get to visit Wales! Best wishes from Germany!

Well after years of hard and fund raising the corris railway and it volunteers have done it.
Maybe a brown with red and black lining would be good for no.10
She's going to be a smart looking little engine once she's all done up.

Yes, there are definitely plans in the pipeline. Lets; get her completed first and I'm sure that there will be plenty of opportunities to get the two together.

If you want to pay for the paint and labour, you can choose the colour (within reason) ;-) Seriously though, that's a real can of worms that is going to be the subject of lots of debate, as at lots of railways.

Though one question: do you have like record of how the original 3 were painted back then?

What’s the context behind the visibly rusty and damaged saddle tank in the first photo? Is it original?
It is indeed an old tank from Number 3 that the TR returned to us, and that we use as a collecting bucket for number 10.
You know, I watched Thomas the Tank Engine and I always thought the trains were exaggerated but it turns out they are extremely close to the real thing.
Imagine if they had day out with Thomas events and use the corris as the Mid-Sodor?
When can we expect the engines completion and transportation to Corris?

Great job here. Though I wonder when 7 & 10 will get names and what colour livery 10 will get. I would choose blue with red stripes.

I guess it'll Be maroon or a Dark Red, since that's what seemed to be the Corris Standard livery

Is there a special reason as to why they have buffers, because the old ones didn't...?
The original ones didn't have a trailing truck, and had smaller cabs, and didn't have air brakes. Times change, and the modern Corris has standardised on buffers and coupling hooks with air brakes.

What shall they name #10? I’d say Hughes Falcon. (#7 should also be named Kerr Stuart.)
The Corris Railway has no intentions to name their engines I think.
