    Seriously guys...
    CSR Elite wheel is well worth the money! If your looking at buying a wheel consider this. ECCI and FREX wheels are the only wheels that out perform the CSR Elite wheel depending on the model... The reason why I purchased the Elite wheel, changable wheel rims and endless customization! Hopefully I will not have to purchase a new wheel for a long time.

    Guys... don't forget the benchmark part of his review (link in his description)... excellent reading material!

    Thank you and you are absolutely right about me doing product reviews in the future. I want to continue making and uploading some kind of videos, but I will need to re-think everything. I am open to your suggestions.
    PS: Community reviews will not be the only ones, reputable media/websites will be offered to review Fanatec products.

    I can't believe I watched this for 20 minutes without getting bored. Good job sonac!

    @Bram5555 Deadzone makes the game ignore movement on a portion of axis' range. Inside deadzone makes the game ignore small movements, so no steering will be applied if you move the wheel only a little and no throttle will be applied if you press the gas pedal only a little. Outside deadzone will make the game ignore the other end of the axis, so you reach maximum steering or throtle/brake/clutch input sooner and it doesn't make a difference if you turn your wheel or press your pedal any further.

    A thorough, concise and well scripted review - thanks.

    Totally depends on each person's opinion about Forza's physics, but keep in mind that this wheel is not limited to Forza and works with all racing titles on PC, PS3 and X360.

  •  12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @Bram5555 The only setting that could in my opinion make the wheel "help you" is the Drift mode or "dri" setting in wheel's tuning menu. Make sure that is set to "off". I play with almost all settings at default settings. I recommend you to set force feedback strength on the wheel to 100% and decrease it in the game settings instead, if possible - I found out that makes the wheel behave more correctly and maybe it will suit you better.

  • @Bram5555
    @Bram5555 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Bram5555 Ok, thanks Sonac! I red the firmware instructions and they say no to perform any update until there is a problem or the support asks for it. But I will see. I think the latest update is from begin 2012 so I suppose it is already applied on the wheel yet. I will check it immediately when the wheel arrives. Normally tomorrow. :) I wanted to thank you once again for your reviews and fast reply's on questions. Thanks to you I'm so sure about the quality and how the wheel works. ;)

    CSR Elite wheel does not come with a table clamp, but the optional Clubsport Table clamp is very solid. Hard mounting is always the best way for mounting it though.

  •  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @ForLifeAndBeyond Grip is different, but very good. GT2's full alcantara-covered rim is something special and will never be forgotten though.
    As far as performance goes, response is A LOT better than with GT2. Smoother, lighter to move, faster, with stronger, sharper and more direct/immediate FFB effects with more granularity.

    I went with the standard CSR when I got my wheel (with elite pedals and CSR shifter kit) cost me 385USD shipped. Don't regret it in the slightest. I doubt I'd ever pay 500 for a wheel alone.

    If someone is interessted in this info: its possible to change the elite wheelrim with the gt2 or gt3 wheelrim. it has the same fittings and the same cable connection inside. Even the display will work correctly. the only issue i had, was that some buttons were changed, for example the right paddleshifter. thats not a problem for pc games but does make problems in some ps3 or xbox games. With the gt3 rim the feeling was alot better but the overall ffb a bit weaker. I only wanted to say that a r

  •  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @StarDav69 PS/2 cable, but you get a short adapter cable from PS/2 to RJ with the wheel, that plugs in the wheel.

  • @Bram5555
    @Bram5555 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @sonac Thanks to explain this! Now I understand the inside- and outside axis much better. So if I comprehend it well, it's better to change the outside axis more (more percentage) when playing at 900°. So it will be react faster on correcting a slide and you don't to make full steering. ;)

  •  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Bram5555 Nothing has changed since the 721B release. Updater has worked for me many times without a single problem, but I guess there will always be a few people with problems. I do not think it is possible to brick the wheel, so do not worry about updating firmware.

    @AJAY606 Serious about racing?
    Just buy the CSR package...
    CSR wheel- $199.99
    CSR shifter- $59.99
    CSR elite pedals- $149.99 (Elite pedals are so much better!!)
    Don't use your G25 pedals, I only bought that adapter because I knew the pedals wouldn't show up with the wheel, But a buddy of mine ordered everything and got all items. Next shipment for CSR elite wheels is mid march! That's when I'm be expecting my wheel. I already have the CSR, with Elite pedals.

  •  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    It is difficult for me to say whether I recommend CSR Elite over the GT2, because is a HUGE price difference between them. It is very clear that CSR Elite is a much, much better wheel. Regarding grip: I like it on both wheels, but I think while being a bit too heavy GT2's rim is better overall (no flex + full alcantara cover). However, that is the only category in which CSR Elite does not beat GT2 by a mile.

    Very nice and professional reviews! Just two questions. Is there a racing wheel that when you spin it and then release it, it will go back to the original position? Also, what's the highest ammount of spin radius on any wheel you've reviewed?

    Good review. I hope it is unbiased and your reviews stay that way since it seems the only reviews of Fanatec products from now on are "Community" reviews which I don't wholly trust. I see you are now in charge of the community reviews according to Thomas' blog. If you are being compensated by Fanatec now then you should preface your reviews with that otherwise this could come across as Fanatec paid PR review.

  • @10forgram
    @10forgram 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @10forgram LOL. I have a G27 and CSR wheel with CSR Elite pedals. I'm serious about drifting!
    I'm not too considered about my CSR Elite wheel anymore its all about my new gaming pc!

  •  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @vicbel I will do that in the CSR Elite Pedals review.

  •  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Bram5555 I use 900°, but I must admit I have been racing on PC lately and haven't played Forza in a while. I am not sure if they made any additional changes to how the game handles degrees of rotation. BTW: have you tried switching between normal and simulation steering modes? Simulation steering is quite unforgiving and you never get an impression that the game is helping you.

  • @ilonioum
    @ilonioum 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice review, as usual, sonac. Well done!
    I can see your face in Forza badge on the wheel when you talk btw :)

  • @Bram5555
    @Bram5555 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @sonac Ok, good tip to change the FF in the ingame settings instead on the wheel. Now it is 100% ingame and 30% on the wheel. The low FF is much better I think. It's much more relax to steer. I will try it soon.
    Do you play with Sensitivity on 900° or default (Off). My impression is also that it's way more easy on default.

  •  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    The elite is very high end, so if you are not very serious about racing, you might want to save some money and got for the "standard" CSR wheel. But please keep in mind that mechanically these two wheels have nothing in common, CSR Elite is much better.

  • @saku0207
    @saku0207 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yeah, you can change the rim.. to bad there is still no rim available 10 years later. I like my csr elite but having no option to get another rim really sucks... nice review..

  •  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @TheKwod Probably yes. But mostly they feel like they should. With regular pedals it was always a bit weird for me - thinking how far I must push the brake instead of how strongly I push it.

  •  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Bram5555 Hello! Firmware update is not necessary, but you would benefit from it, if the wheel will not come with the latest version (currently that is v.721b).
    You can download new firmware versions from 911wheel DOT de (search a bit :)) and instructions, as well as firmware upgrade utility comes with the firmware, it's fairly simple.

    Brilliant Review but how does it compare to fanatec's GT2 wheel more specifically? (better grip? better response?)

  • @Nefus1988
    @Nefus1988 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    This wheel seems to be far above Thrustmasters T500. Sure the T500 costs 600$ but that includes pedals and clamp (although not as big as Fanatecs). CSR Elite costs alone 540$ and when you need pedals, CSR Elite pedals cost 150$ (or Clubsport pedals for 200$) plus the clamp for 50$. Lets say you buy the Clubsport pedals with this wheel when it will be 790$ Thats 190$ more expensive than T500. Even if this wheel didn´t had support for Xbox 360 it would still cost around 100$ more.

  • @fucheduck
    @fucheduck 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    price is stifling, was wondering if you changed the wheel rim if it would still be compatible with X-box 360? It seems to be more for F1 cars if I use it for street cars I'd put my hand in the 12 o'clock position(that is how I drive real cars) to shift the H shifter and that is the wheel rim's weakest point, you said.

  •  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @AJAY606 Considering how much this one is superior to the Porsche wheels, it is hard to recommend anything else, after you try it. But pedals are very important too, so I do not know what to recommend. The new CSR wheel bundles look very interesting, but I can't tell you exactly how that wheel compares, because I don't have it.

  • @Nefus1988
    @Nefus1988 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @lass8477 You think the Xbox 360 support alone costs 290$? That makes no sense. Did you notice the regular Porsche 911 wheel costs 180$ and the GT2 and CSR costs 250$ Thats only 80$ More. So 540-80 equals 460$ without Xbox 360 support.

    I'm looking to buy a new wheel, coming from the old crap MS force feedback wheel. I didn't find it to be much of a benefit in Forza 4. Hearing how good this one is, with the two force feedback motors providing detailed feedback, it's hard to get the regular CSR even though it is in my price range and probably interest level. Should I hold back on the Elite for now and go for the regular CSR?

  • @kondeslaw

    Yo, what wheel would you recommend for a casual gamer like me. I'm not into racing games but just casually driving around the city. I want it as realistic as possible. Would G27 be a good choice? Thanks. Game is City Car Driving (Simulator) btw.

    Hi, thank you for your reply and yes ... finally I bought the CSR Elite! I like it very much.
    In this video I saw that you use it also with FM4 and I would like to have your help for the best FM4 and CSR-E settings.
    Actually with FM4 and the CSR-E I use the default settings:
    FM4 (Wheel 24-95 Acc. 15-90 Brake 15-95 Clutch 10-100 Hand B. 10-100)
    CSR-E (SEN - FFB - SHO - DRI - ABS - LIN - DEA - SPR - DPR)
    Thank you!

    I have had a g25 for 5 yrs now and i want to make the switch to fanatec. I was considering this wheel with a table clamp csr shifter and g25 pedal adapter or the csr wheel with clubsport pedals and csr shifter or a GT2 with clubsports and a Porsche shifter? Which would you choose coming off a G25. I am serious about racing and primarily a console racer but this summer i will build a gaming pc for racing sims and FPS so it would be nice to get a wheel now and have time to get used to it. Cheers

    CSR Elite base + BMW GT2 rim + F1 rim + ClubsSport V2 pedals + CSS-SQ + Oculus CV1 (when it's out!). Now I need to find a decent cockpit. Should run into $2.5K. Easy now, hands off the credit card...

    Hello Sonac! I've stll a little question for you.
    I've bought the CSR Elite Wheel for use on Xbox 360. Next week it will arrive! Woohoo! :)
    Now my question is: do I have to perform a firmware update before using on Xbox?
    And if it is not necessary and, for example, I will update it in a few months. How do I have to do it? Connect it to my PC and download the Firmware Updater somewhere? Please inform me a little bit. Thanks a lot!! ;) Grts!

    Hi, just got this wheel and pedals. Having some problems getting it to work on PC, I installed the 115 drivers (also tried beta ones) but when i plug in the wheel to my pc and hit power on my pc cant find the drivers for it (windows 7 64bit and yes i put it into pc mode)
    After someone suggested I tried creating a new windows users and it detects it on that user as a generic usb device, and lets me calibrate it via the software but it does not work on my domain user. Any thoughts?

    No it wouldn't. Xbox support doesn't add $250 to the price. Just look at the price difference in something like the GT3-RS (no xbox support) vs GT2 wheels (with xbox support). This CSR-E uses the same base as the upcoming Clubsport Wheel but with diff electronics. That is why the thing is so expensive. I think its way over priced since Fanatec hasn't even confirmed they will make any swap-able rims for it. T500RS is still a better deal than CSR-E. Not worth it just to play Forza.

    I heard this wheel was going to be $500 upon release. I see it's $539.95. When the GT3 came out Sim Racing tonight said you can get the wheel and clubsport pedals for $300. They ended up charging $329.95. Time for a price cut right?
    I wish Fanatec would follow the idea of price your product to move so many people could have these wheels. They just come across as money whores. They probably charge too much because they can't keep up with the demand. I hear they have horrific customer service.
