As a marginal high school hurdler during his heyday, Skeets was my hero. An excellent role model.

Bro Renaldo Nehemiah is NOT a "former Olympic athlete." He IS however a former world record holder in the 55, 60, and 110 meter hurdles and a Pan-Am gold medalist. Unfortunately, (back in 1980) Jimmy Carter boycotted the Moscow Olympics, which squashed the hopes of Renaldo and other hopefuls. He was also instrumental, (spending years in court) in allowing track athletes to be able to play professional sports while retaining their amateur status. Love the man!! Plus he lived in my county. Peace

How so? He, (along with the rest of our fellow American athletes) wasn't allowed to compete in the Olympics in 1980. Perhaps the brotha's own words will suffice, “Ninety percent of people make the mistake of believing that I won an Olympic medal. I am often introduced as ‘Renaldo Nehemiah, Olympic medalist,’ and immediately after [I say] thank you, I have to correct them.” “Yeah, I think about what I could have done at the 1980 Olympics because I was [ranked] number-one at that time,” Nehemiah admits. But the positive things people come and say to me or about me… and the things I have been able to give back to the sport - that’s my gold medal.” Bro Clyde... Renaldo Nehemiah competed in the U.S. Olympic TRIALS. He did not compete in Moscow, at the Olympic Games. He is therefore was not an Olympian. I could contact him for you, (as well as others, like fellow American hurdler bro Tonie Campbell if you'd like), so that there is no more confusion. Not trying to be combative, just spittin truth. Peace

witnessfitness1 he won the Plympic US trials. He was on the 1980 US Olympic team. Officially am Olympian. The boycott doesnt change that. That just prebemted him from collecting his gold medal.

@@MrOctober81951 No he is not. In order to be an Olympic athlete, you have to compete in Olympic competition and Renaldo never did. It's that simple.

@@davidgrace2951 Regardless, if he made the U.S. Olympic team, he was not an Olympian because of the simple fact that he never competed in the Olympic games.

Renaldo was a great hurdler who set many world records, but he was NOT an Olympic hurdler. The year that he was eligible for the Olympics, 1980, was the year the U.S. boycott the games because they were being played in Russia. The boycott was out of protest over Russia invading another country.
