    • @galenkehler
      @galenkehler ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hambini got some of the details. Apparently the efficiency they're quoting of 99% is at 110rpm and like 30W. So very low torque, likely much less efficiency at real world numbers

    • @trroland1248
      @trroland1248 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@galenkehler Thanks. Yes, I did see Hambini's analysis earlier. Indeed, quoting efficiency losses at very low torque or force is silly, as friction loss would increase with greater force going through the gears.

  • @PeakTorque
    @PeakTorque ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Thanks Shane for the quick upload, top work. Will be there next year! Classified's efficiency claims, when in the 0.7 ratio, are only tested at 45W on their rig. Why didn't they test at 250w? We shall see!

    8:00 finally, you're the first person to film the ltwurd derailleur from this angle while actuating it.
    I've been asking these YT reviewers to show us the parallelogram in action. Did you notice where the jockey wheels where pointing? I have an A(x)12 ltwoo 12s mechanical rear derailleur, it uses the newest SRAM "technology" where the jockey wheels point towards the chain rings no matter what gear you're in. 1)Why did they not use this for the electronic set 2) why is the one you filmed aiming at the BB constantly?

    • @gplama
      @gplama  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ^ Correct. To legally use a helmet in AU it needs the tick of approval from AU/NZS standards. Getting that tick (and sticker) is expensive for manufacturers.

      @@gplama I remember cycling when everyone used Campag and Shimano were better known for fishing reels. If Shimano rest on their laurels, or continue to make weird decisions like they have recently with e.g. 105 mechanical then others will make inroads. SRAM were new kids on the block not so long ago. Were already seeing frame producers like Elves & Trigon starting to become mainstream. Interesting times.

    Not sure why there were so many generic smart trainers. None of them seemed to make any innovation, rather just try to jump on the bandwagon. By contrast, it’s interesting that there were no smart bikes. An affordable, good quality smart bike can sell like crazy given that there are only a few options on the market and they cost around 4000€ mark.

    • @gplama
      @gplama  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Covid. I'd say the companies scrambled to meet demand 2-3 years ago. Trainers are small(ish) and seem like a good idea at the early stages of development. They're really hard to get right. Smart bikes are very bulky and also hard to get right. I don't think we'll see much fo the the trainer brands we saw in Taipei.

    It's kinda disappointing that we still use derailleurs ( an idea that has been around over one hundred years now !!! ) In many respects an inferior design where the shifting mechanism is exposed to potential damage To me no matter how much they dress up the design they are still a pain in the ass mechanism that easily fail and need constant adjustment compared to say gear change system in motorcycles etc
