  • Welcome back to our Japan Diaries (Episode 7). Come and explore Osaka and Koyasan with us!
In this Travel Vlog, we wanna bring you guys along with us to Osaka Castle, Kaiyukan Aquarium, our first J League Match and Koyasan.
Our Japan adventure continues with more incredible sights, interesting cuisine, and unique experiences that showcase the city's rich history and contemporary charm. We navigated through the streets of Osaka, uncovered hidden gems, embraced local traditions, and savored its mouthwatering delicacies. From the historical landmarks to the bustling streets and vibrant neighborhoods, Osaka was great.
We loved exploring the surreal marine world at the renowned Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan. In the vibrant Tempozan Harbor Village, this world-class aquarium houses an astounding variety of marine life from the Pacific Rim. We hung ou with the cutest dolphins, seals, sharks and whales at the massive central tank. Kaiyukan Aquarium was home to hundreds of awe-inspiring creatures, including majestic whale sharks, playful dolphins, and graceful manta rays. It was an immersive experience that left us with a deeper appreciation for marine conservation.
We walked through Osaka Castle, which marks Osaka's iconic historical significance and modern allure. Osaka Castle was an iconic symbol of the city's heritage. Climbing to the castle's observation deck, we got a panoramic view of the sprawling metropolis.
Jaime is an avid football enthusiast, so we couldn't miss the opportunity to immerse ourselves in Osaka's football fervor. After seeing Osaka Castle, we made our way to the electric atmosphere of the city's football stadium to witness a thrilling J-League match. The passion and energy radiating from the fans was contagious. There was an electrifying ambiance that encapsulated the essence of Japanese sports culture. We had a great time.
On the final day of our Osaka adventure, we went on a serene journey to Koyasan, a sacred mountain in Wakayama Prefecture and one of Japan's most significant spiritual destinations. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Koyasan is renowned for its rich religious history, ancient temples, and tranquil surroundings. To get there, we take a scenic train and cable car ride through lush forests and picturesque landscapes, setting the tone for a day of spiritual exploration.
Koyasan had a very mystical atmosphere and it felt really spiritual. We walked through Okunoin Cemetery, one of the largest and most revered cemeteries in Japan. As we stroll along the moss-covered paths lined with centuries-old tombstones and towering cedar trees, we sense the profound sense of peace that emanates from this sacred place.
Next, walked through sacred precinct of Kongobuji Temple, the head temple of the Shingon sect of Buddhism, founded by Kobo Daishi, the revered monk who brought Buddhism to Koyasan over 1,200 years ago. The temple's awe-inspiring architecture and serene gardens invite contemplation and reflection. We may even have the opportunity to witness a mesmerizing Buddhist ritual, further enriching our spiritual experience.
In the afternoon, we visit other revered temples and pagodas that dot the mountain landscape, each exuding its unique charm and significance. The peaceful ambiance and breathtaking vistas from the mountaintop was really something else.
We were tired by this leg of the trip, but we enjoyed exploring Osaka's historical treasures. We immersed ourselves in its vibrant culture, indulged in its delectable cuisine, marveled at marine wonders, experienced the thrill of a football match, and embraced the spiritual tranquility of Koyasan.
