On the last stage shown (Moon and Star in RC2K), there is a tree on the apex of the first chicane. The modeler purposely put it there because he knew people would straight-line the chicane. It bought him much joy to see people crash into it without fault when the demo was first released, featuring this track.
I played a lot with the Mobile 1 Championship. LOVED it so much. - Especially the real stages, and the attemp to create photorealistic stages (well at that time it was pretty much that.)
Network Q Rally Championship was the first PC game I ever bought, way back in 1997. Not a bad one to start with! Even at the time I thought the combination of uncompromising difficulty (the 36-mile Pundershaw stage at night!) and strangely arcade aspects (the Escort could hit 200mph downhill at Wauchope) was a bit strange, but I loved the game overall. I didn't like International Rally Championship much, but I played Mobil 1 to death. For some reason the maps being actual licensed Ordnance Survey maps was a massive thing for me. No other rally game had that, IIRC.
Mobil 1 Rally Championship was also known as Rally Championship 2000 in some places like Australia. I don't know if Magnetic Fields did Network Q Rally Championship from 1993 or if it was someone else like this video seems to imply. Also, I've had so many problems getting Mobil 1 Rally Championship to work on my computer. I don't know where I can find a good workaround for it. Maybe I just have a faulty image file, since I can't rip my CDrom copy due to copy protection and where ever I got the image from wasn't the best place to obtain one.
@@Cyberbrickmaster1986 It's a notoriously difficult game to get working on modern hardware, or at least it was when I tried a few years ago. I gave up in the end. Would love a Steam release like GTR2 had, but I can't see it sadly.
I had no idea this was a trilogy. I love the first game to this day and recently picked up a copy to replay. I remember skipping Tommi Makinen Rally after it got absolutely buried by Colin McRae Rally and never paid much attention to Mobil 1 Rally (until now!) My only suggestion is voice commentary over text, other than that thanks for the video!
to be honest, lots of people suggested me to do voice commentary instead of writing text, but the thing is, I don't speak all that fluently (even on my native language) and I stutter often, nor I have the confidence to talk in front of a microphone for some reason
@@cheesyeurotrance95 I really think it would be worth the effort (plus you can redo your lines until it sounds how you want it) but I understand the hesitation. Cheers anyway :)
I'm a proud owner of the physical copy of Mobil 1 Championship. This game is awesome. It also has an arcade mode included which is a nice touch. I will say after a while the car engine noises can get a bit irritating, and the pilot isn't the greatest.
Hello! Is there any advice you can give to me to make network q rac rally working on windows 10? I really want to play it,its a part of my childhood,so thank you in advance!
good news: two weeks ago someone named Kevin Antelo posted a video of WRC 4 fully working on the recent 1.7.0 dev build of PCSX2, he posted a patch (i forgot who made said patch) for said game in his reply to my comment and that's how i got mine to work, i've beat pro driver challenge in my PCSX2 saves but i'm stuck on the Proton PERT level of my actual PS2 save . however thick fog ("peasouper" cheat, also available in one of the Pro Driver challenges) doesn't work in hardware mode, that's the only downside (if you don't count the FMV lines)
i remind that i played Network Q RAC Rally Championship flawessly in my old Cyrix intel clone 5x86, but then i tried the International Rally Championship the game ran like shit. my neighbor PC could play using his Celeron 300mhz with 32mb RAM;

I'd never heard of Terep 2 until reading that, so thanks for the info! Apparently Terep 2 was called Deformers in English (nothing to do with the brawler game on Steam) but I don't remember it at all. I don't know if it was even released in the UK. I *do* remember 1nsane, of course!
3:40 I still prefer the pc version of this game. they removed everything that makes the game fun for the psone version e.g the "pitstop" and the physics is crap.
true, although the PS1 version is OK too if you want to play it on a phone via PS1 emulator, but then again there are better rally games on the PS1 anyway (the first two Colin Mcrae Rally, WRC Arcade, V-Rally 2 etc.)
I remember the RAC Rally Championship. It was the most realistic looking game of it's time.

The 1996 version had suspension, brakes, engines, a lot of setups, it was way ahead of it's time.
Mobile 1 RC 2000 is still one of my favourite rally games ^^
I still have nightmares assembling those tracks.

I personally spent most time with IRC, enjoyed the soundtrack and this quite simple level editor.
I couldn't remember the one I had as a kid was the second one! Everywhere I just saw Network Q RAC

Hi! Can’t run it via dosbox, get black screen. Could you give some clue please?
Didn't know it's the only series to feature full length stages. That's amazing! Good vidro.
thanks, actually there was a 23 km Poland stage in WRC 7 (2017) but I'm not sure if it's a real stage or made for the game
@@cheesyeurotrance95 Good to know, thx.

The real Kruklanki stage has 19.58 km length.

the image at the start with the car on a beach, what game is that?
midtown madness 2
International Rally Championship had really bad physics. You crash into something at 5mph and the whole car will flip over violently several times.
Is the first game the only racing game with a Ford test livery, I wonder?
