good tips! I will add one that has helped me, drop the sheath in HOT water so it expands a little then work the knife...... I will refrain from making a joke about lubing the nubs and working in and out because I am an adult.
AFTER the video..during the editing process I considered that phrasing.... but I was done with it and wasn't going to reshoot the video! We are all middle schoolers at heart.
@@A-staticCal don't tell but I still have some cans of GT-85 stashed in there somewhere. I will give you another FREE tip... want a SUPER clean bike that mud just falls off of? Go to your local motorcycle shop and buy a can of SC1 by Maxima products. Works great on car tires like armor all.... if I'm traveling I coat the front of my car with it and the bugs just spray off.
I just bought 3 of your knives within the last month and a half. The Junglas, 6 & 4. The #4 has a rough canvas handle and it was hell to get out. I'm a retired Carpenter so the first thing I did was to file down the bumps. Then to get rid of the file marks I lit a match and just before it went out I brought it close to those little bumps and it melted down the scratch marks so it's smooth again. I went from processed wood to organic wood cutting. I got them all at once because things are getting harder to get here in Canada.
sir, i just ordered a bunch of your knives as i have heard they are excellent and that your warrantee is excellent. i will sing their praises when they get here (im looking at you usps) HOWWWWEVER i have an unrelated question. as an avid cyclist/bicycle rider i cannot help but notice the PLETHORA of bike tools on the wall. spill the beans please. thank you.
Good advice on finger placement and technique. I remember when I gave my wife a esee 3 a couple of years back, I'm glad I was there to correct her on her draw lol
Thanks Shane--good advice as usual. FWIW--a couple of my Esee's were tough to remove from the sheath and I just put a very thin layer of Vaseline on those little nubs inside the sheath. It worked great. I only had to do it once and it helped to break the sheath in and the 3 or 4 sheaths I did this to all work great now
I just happened to have one of my Izulas right in front of me. I had to retrain my right hand draw because of an issue with trigger finger on my middle finger. Now I have to choke up and use my pinky instead of the ring finger in the lanyard hole. Grip tight and push with the thumb. I don't usually carry it in cold weather.
which is why we made this video...we would rather error on the side of caution given that many carry our products on Molle or web gear, often tip up. Implementing the easy fixes found in this video will remedy that issue.
no avoidance...ever... we continue to be buried in orders for existing product and we don't have time in the production schedule to make a new product when we are buried in orders for CURRENT product....
Sweet tips brother...but its kinda sad really that an adult who purchased an Esee wouldn't have the mindset to quickly assess & quickly REMEDY that particular situation!! If its crazy strong, sure shave a smidget...but my goodness, most things on earth need to be broken/worn in! Y'all are awedome💪😎👍
we get that we are the start point for many folks...so that means there is, at times, a learning curve for all. We are happy to help folks navigate the steep part of the curve early on.
sounds like this video is NOT for you... that's fine..but we understand the folks start from all different places in life.. We are just trying to help folks out that may not have the same exposure that we did...that's all.

Great I just got a esse-3 knife and teh sheath is to tight lol
Love that you're doing this at a bike workbench, feels like home.. or a Park ad😄. That's the biggest bottle of Tri-Flow ever.
that bottle of TriFlow has lasted me YEARS and still going strong!
@@RandallsAdventureESEE If it moves, it gets TriFlow. Or Phil Wood. (Which is GREAT on slide rails.)

Glad you made this video. I speak from experience after donating blood and 7 stitches.
Great video for beginners, so they do not become discouraged early on.
exactly the intent of the video! Thanks.

Great suggestion...I use CHAP STICK a lot... for rust prevention..and my lips...lol.. that would work too.
Always sharp knives that are hard to break. Love ‘em
I have one of the OLD RAT3 and a new esse6. I LOVE both these knives.
Glad to hear it!
Nice...my daily carry is a PM2 and the Esee 6...there is no task I can't accomplish with just those two knives💪😎👍
@@b80-s9i I carry a PM2 quite a bit as well. Great blades.
Thank you Shane, I just got a IZULA 2 yesterday, this helps
Just bought the esee 6 love it was gonna buy the esee 5 first for edc but it was 50 bix more so ill buy it in few months
Thanks for the video I tried a little vegetable oil now it goes in and out easy
Glad to hear you got it worked out!

Good options. What is the small length of paracord at the bottom of the sheath for?
Great tips about tight sheaths. I prefer to work with knife & sheath safely without lube or filing.
Thanks
Will
That's our suggestion but some folks seem to need a bit more help.
No issue getting the knife out, but my Darien's sheath was almost impossible to snap. It's actually shredded now. Can I buy/warranty a new one?
reach out to me... Shane AT eseeknives.com I will get you sorted.
I had 2 essee 4s that were relly bad to get out of the sheaths a real pain in the neck.

Y’all should try to acquire the rat model 1 since Ontario going down…original rat design.

Nice information!
Thanks for sharing the tip.
I really enjoy your knives. I edc my izula 2 and esse 3.
You and your family take care. 🇺🇸🔪🌲🔥
same to you! Thank you.
Hey i like that tool bench so squared away!
I had to clean it up a bit for the video... but it's nice to have a work shop for sure.
Thank you!
My Xancudo was hard…it was an easy fix
my 5 and 4 eventually broke themselves in. just spent an evening putting them in and out of their sheaths
this is our preferred way but we find some folks don't have the technique down or possibly the hand strength to get this done without a little help.
In my experience all of mine broke in fairly quickly with use .
Agreed. Hopefully this helps folks get over the initial issues of ownership
So I sprayed some wd-40 on sheath, and now it almost falls off it, it went from too tight to oh my you're so loose baby 😐
I just bought the BK14 and the sheath is so tight, the knife won't even go in all the way.
Should have watched this video before making an involuntary donation to the blood bank. Lol
exactly what we are trying to prevent...after dozens of phone calls and emails I felt it was time to just make a video and handle it all at once.
Seriously if people are this incompetent to get a knife out of the sheath, then I don’t think they should be handling a sharp object ever
