    I have the G8 GXP (the older version of the ss but with the same engine). This race puts a big smile on my face :).. looking forward for more races in this car!

      I missed my chance to get one when they were around 30-35k (USD). I haven't seen any example dip below 40k nowadays.

      Maybe when the chip shortage is long gone and the market calms down, values will decrease some, but really not sure. The Pontiac G8 was a very similar car to the SS. The G8 GXP is the most desired.

      Caprice PPV is the poor mans take you can customize to your liking. The L77 motor is pure bliss and stout. Love it.

    My guys right there! Terrific!! Love to see how close these cars are. The V8 walk near the end of each run is predictable but still super satisfying. James's Jag is NO joke though. Still hoping we can line up the Q50 RS vs the Jag at some point seeing how close I was able to hang with the SS when it was my turn :) Great work as usual.

      Yes the red sport Q50 with the Jaguar and the Kia stinger would all be a good race . Line all three up at the same time

      @@JP35303 that would be epic. We do find that this location has pretty coarse asphalt and generally we're amateur racers. The possibility of stone chips and close proximity racing has its risks. These are privately owned cars after all. Heats would be the way to go I'd think, with the Red Sport taking it.

    Thanks again Sam, it was such a great day and I am thrilled I got to line up against the SS! I couldn’t believe how well that thing hooked up - hardly any advantage from the AWD. Hopefully Jim and I can get a Q50RS vs XE run in before the snow falls!

      I have a 2018 Jaguar XE 35t AWD. It’s fucking awesome and fast as hell. You don’t see allot of jags, even fewer XE’s and even less XE 35t AWD. I found one with 9400 miles and only $30,000 in Texas.

      That Jaguar isn't tuned. A stock 2017 XE 35t S is 380. Mine IS tuned with a crank pulley and I'm pushing 470hp. If the Jaguar were tuned it would have smoked the SS. They should have tried the V8 Jaguar XE (Project 8) vs the V8 SS, although it would exactly be a good or fair race.

    That's it. I subscribed. Most fun channel in my opinion. Right to the point, no BS. With that said, my wife has the XE 35T AWD as well. In USA, we had to wait until 2018 XE-S to get the 380HP version. Double check my thinking, but that XE in '17 is the 340 HP version. Unless you are talking about the Tune. What Tune did they get? Can he list the mods and Tune? I would love to do some crazy stuff to my wife's when she is least expecting it. HAHA! Love the content.

      Hey man, only mods are the tune and a resonator delete. Tune is through VAP. Replaced stock map with the stock XE-S tune. Seems very similar to the 416hp tune though.

      @@badderup9668 How can it make more power with no physical pulley changes to make more boost? I don’t know how a map alone makes the difference as the 380 in the UK makes more boost than the 340 to get that extra power. To get 450 plus you require a smaller charger pulley and larger crank pulley and larger intercooler,better air filters THEN the remap. I think that thing is running 100% standard 340 bhp.

      @@Buck3366 you can only get around 15 more hp with a tune alone, if you don't want to do the pully upgrade the gearbox tune will feel like a bigger upgrade thana stage 1 tune by itself.

    im pretty sure 380hp is the stock figure for the xe so im not sure what's tuned on the xe. when the xe is tuned with a pully update and a map they normally run 450-500hp not a bad figure for just a single bolt on and map out of a 3.0 tbf.

    Something about people rebadging the SS rubs me the wrong way. The car is already rare but when you through Holden badges on it people are even more confused. But maybe that is what owners want though. Its not like people really did it to the Holden GTO. Oh well.... RIP Pontiac and Holden

    Those Jags are really detuned from factory due to emmision regulations.
    Stage 1 tune opens them up without any hardware.

    I have an SS, and the first thing that I always take away from the "spirited runs in Mexico" are that these cars with FI and AWD are great out of the hole, but the SS eventually reels them in unless it's an AWD or FI V8. At one point I contemplated getting an Audi RS3 until I ran one and had similar results as the video above. The V8 has long legs. Thanks for showcasing the SS, but straight line performance is only half of what makes the SS great. Try it in the twisties and you'll be even more impressed.

      The Jaguar isn't tuned. 380 is stock for a 2017 XE S. Mine IS tuned pushing 470hp

      @@robpr315 I know it says tuned R-Sport, but they made two versions: the R-Sport (340hp) and the S (380). Same engine, just different factory tunes. I didn't see any badging on the car to differentiate if it was actually an R-Sport or an S. Now I may be wrong, but I researched for almost a year before I purchased a tune and pulley for mine, and I don't know of any "accredited tune" that gave only 40 more hp, however, I did see a lot of very disappointed people on a few forums, who used cheap knock off "tunes" claim they seem to make the car lose power. The only 3 tunes I would trust is VAP, Euro Toys, or Arden.
      Sidenote: on paper the stock XE has a better 0-60 and 1/4 mile time, although they are fairly close.

      A V1 would be a much better race for the poverty Commodore.
      Seriously though, the G8 GT dyno's about 300rwp. My SS baselined at 368 with a CAI. Nearly 70 more hp AT THE WHEELS and you think it would be a good race. If the G8 had a cam, full exhaust, and a converter would it even remotely be worth the gas to line a G8 up with an SS.

      @@caseybrannon4975 No but they have tested cars that aren't equally matched sometimes to see the outcome due to weight Could be interesting given a tune could solve a lot of issues. And if you knew anything about cars then you'd know that that is called power to weight ratio 😑 55 less hp isn't a huge difference with a tune and exhaust on most v8s.

      I lined up against a G8 (not a GXP) at Cayuga way back in the late 2000's. I had (and still have) a Hemi Magnum RT. I took him easy off the lights but he reeled me in by the end of the traps. it was neck and neck but he may have gotten me by a hair, I don't recall exactly. We're talking high 13's in the low 100's way back then.

    Apples to apples would be to compare the 8Cyl XE, not the 6Cyl. The 8Cyl Jaguar XE, called Project 8 and sporting nearly 600HP, would destroy that lil' SS. My 6Cyl 2017 XE 35T puts out 553HP on E85, that SS would have zero chance against my XE.

    It's hard to believe that they put that high-powered V8 engine in a low-end Chevrolet Malibu that has no appeal whatsoever.. It was a very poor rated unpopular body style that they changed soon after it came in production.

      @@layne4376 I looked the car over carefully.. The front end resembles the police car Caprice model that they used for a few years during that time.. The back end looks like the Malibu that was a terrible flop and very cheaply made. It is really a hybrid of two uninspiring cars.
      It's just too bad they put a body on it like that... They're so many other ones that would have been more favorable. I know the car runs well however it is a very homely looking car..

      @@lyndoncobb7077 The Malibu/Chevelle was a notable car back in the 1960s and early seventies.. They were really power houses with big block v8s and they had beautiful body styles as well..after that they became very cheap and poorly made in comparison with the other GM cars.. They were reduced to shame the same way the mustang suffered with a design of the mustang ll 🐎.. However the Malibu was not quite as bad as the Mustang Il .It was terrible..🤮

      @@charlesjackson1700 cheaply made? The cost does not reflect the build quality. It's the best rwd v8 sedan for anywhere near the price it was sold for. It didn't sell because Chevrolet didn't spend anywhere near enough to market it. If they did, sales would have seen Chevrolet import the HSV versions including the LSA powered GTSR, and possibly the LS9 powered GTSR W1. Look up those cars to see what North America could have had.

      A Stock Stinger isn't beating a SS. It would probably inch out the jag maybe, but it's still getting walked on the high end by the SS.

    That jag launched as a GARBAGE if is more or less at the level with an RWD car on regular asphalt. I would try to build way more brake boost on it, just to be able to keep still from brakes, maybe some 2800rpm's. I've launched properly Subaru and Audi from 4000rpm's and always were bullit start there on regular asphalt. On vht sometimes driveshaft broken occurs, especially for over 600nm cars.
