I recently played both of these games on the Sega CD for the first time. They’re both incredibly underrated and don’t get the recognition they deserve. Glad to see you showed both Lunar titles a little love.
I can totally relate to being a kid with single mom, not being able to afford much but having my best time going to blockbuster and renting games. I rented the lunar combo on ps1 many times when i was a kid. When i got my first credit card in 2008, i went on Ebay and bought my copies! haha i still play them to this day :)
I bought Lunar 2 PS1 at a Target for $80 as soon as I saw it. I didn’t game as much, but I still loved Working Designs after Cosmic Fantasy 2 and wanted to see the transition to PS1 from TurboGrafx-CD. It's a very charming RPG with great voice acting. I even listened to all of the bloopers CD which was pretty hilarious. The only regret is I skipped forward and didn't start with the first Lunar SSS. I'm meaning to get around to it, but first with the Sega CD versions.
If it helps, the franchise is back! Kinda. They are remastering Silver Star and Eternal blue. If they do well, a 3rd game could be a reality. I never had the Sega CD, so I first play Lunar Silver Story Complete on the PS1 because I was in a video game store(Babbages, props to anyone who knows them) and say the cover art for ps1. Thought it looked cool, but it was expensive, at the time, I was still in 15 or 16 and had no job. But(insert pic here) I turned it over to read the back and basically saw anime ass, so I bought it for that reason. Good thing too, it’s an amazing game. When I found out there was a 2nd game, I got it immediately, along with the GBA version as well. Sorry for the long comment
The only reason I own a Sega CD is because of the controversial working designs lol. Lunar and lunar 2 are in my opinion the best on the Sega CD. I played them first on the playstation but just fell in love with the earlier games. What a surprise it was to me that Alex and Luna split up. The magic system in lunar 2 cost a magic currency, that's really cool. I love your work so far and can't wait to see what else you come up with in the future.
Great video. The Lunar series is one of my most prized collections, as I own every single version of the Lunar games ever released. Though i personally think SS is astronomically better than EB, but that's just my own personal nostalgia talking due to falling in absolute love with SS as a kid. Never felt like EB could top my first true love haha
2019 and a video about Lunar! Cool man.... Eternal Blue Complete was a game I always wanted on PSX. I saw on display at stores but it was so expensive. I eveutally got Lunar Legend and loved that game... And eventually emulated Lunar. However my nostalgia boner always ended with Silver Star. Everytime I wanted to play Eternal Blue, I thought I needed a Silver Star refresher before going into Blue.... And then 40 hours later Id always be too burnt out to get past 2 hours of Eternal Blue. One day, I really want to get into it. Maybe love it as much as I loved Silver Star. A lot of times, I still wonder why I liked Silver Star so much.... Its a damn generic story about elemental dragons and every other 90s JRPG trope.... Maybe Ill try playing Eternal Blue without a Silver Star refresher... I just always wanted to play them back to back since I already know Gideon makes a reappearance... And maybw there are other Silver Star reference Id appreciate more if I only remembered them....
Rip working designs. I literally had the same experience as you rpg fort. I had sega cd for lunar and lunar 2. Vay as well. Lol. Got a seat Saturn for dragon force which is the greatest. Remember dark wizard???
I do wonder. What differences between the Sega CD Versions have compared to the PS1 Remakes. I say Remakes cause the changes are too much to be a simple port.
I prefer Silver Star Story to Silver Star, BUT... Eternal Blue is ten times the game that Eternal Blue Complete is. It's so weird that they dumbed down Eternal Blue in the Playstation remake, removing entire bosses and all. The Phantom Sentry, with all his gunslinger ways, is sorely missed in Complete. Also, making Borgan easier was a crime. When I was younger Borgan was like this insurmountable challenge, one of the worst bosses in rpg history... He was tamed in Complete.

Hey, me too for the first time! Sega CD as well!! I can't believe how Good both games are and the music is so much better than the other ports!
RIP Working Designs
I would have loved them to have made a game focusing around Dyne.
@Legerine me too.what happened to Alex & luna?did they die of old age?

I got more Working Designs games BECAUSE of the excellent work they did on Lunar. Arc The Lad was another Working Designs blessing upon us plebes. Lol

Shining force is a good reason to get a Genesis.
Shining Force is amazing. I was first exposed to the series on my Game Gear and I fell in love with it just as I did Lunar.
I love this series! I never got to play the Sega versions, but I love the voice acting and music ❤❤❤

I grew up with sega and ps versions
awesome vid., you must be a die-hard fan of "meet the parents" film lol
I have only dabbled in the series. I hope to start silver star this year
Always saw these advertised in Gamepro back in the day. Maybe it's time to pick them up
Been a big fan of the original two as well. I still own my copies of the playstation ones. I also have an art book and the ghaleon puppet too.

Shining force was great too
I don't own a PSP! I love the Sega CD & GBA Versions★
The PS1 Version is way to Expenive!
I do wonder. What differences between the Sega CD Versions have compared to the PS1 Remakes. I say Remakes cause the changes are too much to be a simple port.
I love Luna Noa & Alex Noa But
I despise & Hate Nash Runeack!!!
I love Lunar Sega CD & Lunar GBA★
Overwhelming majority of Lunar fans all preferred the vastly superior Sega CD Versions. The PSX Remakes killed the franchise for crying out loud lol
