I used to be a sales for an IT company, not Lenovo but one of their competitors. We were paid by both AMD and Intel to talk about them and sell the products but somehow everytime we were getting customers to buy the AMD version, the stock was suddenly low and guess what, the Intel stock was ready to go... Believe me, Intel knooooooows how to get these companies to only want to create and sell their Intel version.

@@jkmarchives I think you can go for 4500u 8gb. It's a pretty good spec still, but for raw CPU power ryzen 7 is much better. 10th gen Intel is not nice. You get really bad GPU power in that config. 11th gen should be pretty much the same price (at least here in the nordics). That config is better in every way!

Great video! I'm trying to decide between buying the Slim 7 with AMD Ryzen 7 4700U 2Ghz and the Slim 7 with Intel i5 1135G7 2.4Ghz. Both 16GB RAM, all other specs exactly the same. I can't seem to find more details on the 512GB SSD to see if one is faster or if they are the same. So it comes down the processors. The specs say 'no dedicated graphics card' for the AMD, 'dedicated graphics card Iris Xe' for the Intel. The use of the laptop will be: no gaming, everyday personal work (browsing and a lot of HD streaming), a bit of Adobe Lightroom or similar software (not for prof use, just my personal photos), use of audio and music software, work related tasks (running software installed locally and web applications, data analysis and visualization, lots of video calls so sucks that the camera is pretty bad). Price almost exactly the same. Any thoughts or suggestions? My initial thoughts are that if Ryzen 5 4500U and i5 have comparable performance as per your video and Ryzen 7 4700U is better that the Ryzen 5 4500U, then by analogy Ryzen 7 4700U should be better than the i5, right? I just don't know how much of a difference the Iris Xe will make here. Thanks!
Ryzen 5000u series brought SMT support, so the 5500u now has 6 cores and 12 threads. More interesting is the Ryzen 7 5800U and Ryzen 5 5600U which are Zen 3 based.
Yes, and since the availability on the 4000 series has been so bad I REALLY hope it's better in the 5000 series. If not I'm starting to loose hope in AMD.

Hi! Thank you for such an informative video. This has really opened my eyes that there are other options to Intel!!! I was wondering if you could help me decide based on my needs and what's available in the UK; The choice is either the Yoga Slim 7 in either intel 7 8gb or Ryzen 7 4700u 8gb as we still don't have 16gb. I'm a teacher so will need for things like presentations, Microsoft office use and general browsing but I also occasionally audio edit in Audition and premier, but mostly I want to start practising digital artwork (just as a hobby for now; I understand I'd need to upgrade if I use it lots for this) Do you think the Ryzen 7 will be fine for this or it's safe to go with Intel to avoid possible compatibility issues?
Ryzen 7 Series are pretty fast processors, with OctaCores and 16 Threads. I just got a Ryzen 7 5700U, and I am really impressed. It is my first Ryzen CPU laptop. I doubt that I will return to Intel. Ryzen is definitely better

Thankyou Jonas for such insightful videos. Can you please help me in making a choice between the below laptops. Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i with i5-1135G7 Processor and 16GB RAM DDR4 3200MHz Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 AMD Ryzen 7 4800U Processor and 8GB RAM LPDDR4x 4266MHz Which of the above laptops would be future proof for at least next 5 years. Price of both the laptop is around 890 Euro. None have any dedicated GPU. I would use the laptop for online class, Office work, Browsing and watching videos, some video editing with AVS Video Editor and to play strategy games once in a while. The games which I would play would be like Total WAR games Civilization or GTA. If you have any other recommendation, then also please let me know.
Intel version is also having fingerprint which AMD version is missing. I will suggest any of this configuration will serve you for next 4-5 years without any issues, so search out for better deal :-)
Hello! Thanks for uploading this - I was looking for an unbiased video of the Yoga Slim 7 and found your channel :) The videos are very informative! Two weeks ago i bought the Yoga Slim 7 with Ryzen 4800U CPU and while its an awesome and fast machine i've experienced big crackling sound issues with USB Audio Interfaces. So i have to return it and go with the i7 1165 Yoga. Tried everything, different ports, bought another interface, installing/unistalling audio drivers, updating BIOS, nothing worked for me. I cannot even record one track without crackles.... What a pity, on my old notebook with a measly i5 5200U its running without issues :((
The difference between the screen colors is because Intel gpu has different configuration of colors, and in this battle I will stay with Intel more versatile has thunderbolt port you connect an egpu if you wish.

Hi there, great video! I was wondering whether you have any information on usage of CAD programs? I'm a student and use these programs quite a bit. Would you say the AMD version, same as for video editing, is more suited for CAD works?
Very helpful comparison, thank you! :) However I struggle to make a decision. These days, I can get a Yoga Slim 7 with a Ryzen 4500u/16GB for 900 Euro while the Intel-version with i5 1135G7/16GB is on sale for 850 Euro. I would use the Laptop mainly for office applications, internet and some photo editing and want it to be an allrounder for the next years. I'd use it at home most of the time. I still have a very fast desktop Ryzen 5 3600X PC, where I run DaVinci Resolve and CPU/GPU heavy stuff. The 4500u version seems to be the better allrounder with regards to power, temperature and battery life while I also value the way better webcam (hello COVID-19) and SSD of the i5 version. Since it won't be my main computer I wonder if I can save the additional 50 Euro and go with an i5 for 850 Euro. WWJD aka What would Jonas do? :D
At a cheaper price and still 16gb ram i would def go for the Intel version. For me the ups of the Intel are better than the ups of the AMD if your main concern isn't battery life. If that's the case it's def AMD!

Hi W2Best. Great job with your video reviews! It helped me make my decision to buy the slim 7. I just ordered a Slim 7i 15" configured with intel i7 1165G7, xe integrated graphics, 16gb ram (I believe its the 3200 Hz one) and 1TB SSD-station, M.2 2280, PCIe-NVMe, TLC 1. do you think there will be much difference with the 14" that you reviewed? If so, in what aspects (battery life)? 2. I picked the 11th gen with the xe graphics because I thought it would be sufficient to run Dirt rally 2.0 (the only game I play). I'm stull not sure it will run it though. What are your thoughts on this? Would an AMD or an Nvidia mx350 have been better? I think the external graphics would consume more power for an equivalent GPU power as the xe. What are your thoughts?
1. No I think the differences will be very minor. You have the full size SD-card reader and the num pad available. 2. I think that should be fine! Especially if you are not very strict about getting 60 fps... I'm quite pleased with the Xe graphics performance!
Hi. Help me choose which one should I buy. The only game I play is dota2. im thinking of buying the legion 5 or slim yoga amd. Will be using it mainly to watch netflix, for work.

The most important thing to max the graphics will be lpddr4x 4266mhz memory. The xe will be much better than in this video with faster ram. But i would say if you can get mx 450 you should for sure. It's always better with dedicated gpu memory imo. Vega 9 i haven't tried or looked into at all.

Great video! If I was to choose between 4700U or i7-1165G7, which do you think would be most appropriate for gaming?
Does the i7 come with a dedicated gpu? In that case it's for sure best. But intel Xe is very powerful so I would condsider this a draw.
Please Lenovo。。。 make memory upgrable. with all those cores, we need more memory
Depende....
Can you please help me decide?
Which one is better, battery wise and performance wise?

BTW, I use Filmora and Premiere Pro for editing. Hope I could get some opinion on this!
I would look at the 4700u or 4800u in that case! Best CPU power available and works fine for premier! If you don't need thunderbolt it's def the way to go!

but then I have another problem, seems like the only available ryzen variant in our country is 4500U with 8gb soldered ram so I don’t think I can go with that. My budget can only go up until the yoga slim 7i with 10th gen & 16gb ram. Will that be enough for me? 😅 I don’t think I can wait for newer laptops bc I really need one right now. >
Just got Yoga 7 pro oled and compared to Xps 13 and some strange things Is going on, the xps seems to be more accurate and shows better images overall while the Oled Lenovo has serious issues with a lot of scenarios, better display for sure but mist in 2.5k video is off by a lot, shadows and very bright areas is way over and loses a lot of detail, I have now idea why this is the case and enabling HDR makes it even worse
I have amd version, i hope amd can collaborate with nvidia graphic for the best performance cpu and gpu
Yes that would be dreamy! Something like the Asus G14! I think the Ideapad 5 Pro will have that setup! :D

Thanks!
Yes
Hello mate. Which did u buy ? An intel or amd ?
Ryzen 5000u series brought SMT support, so the 5500u now has 6 cores and 12 threads. More interesting is the Ryzen 7 5800U and Ryzen 5 5600U which are Zen 3 based.
Yes, and since the availability on the 4000 series has been so bad I REALLY hope it's better in the 5000 series. If not I'm starting to loose hope in AMD.
Hi! Thank you for such an informative video. This has really opened my eyes that there are other options to Intel!!!
I was wondering if you could help me decide based on my needs and what's available in the UK;
The choice is either the Yoga Slim 7 in either intel 7 8gb or Ryzen 7 4700u 8gb as we still don't have 16gb.
I'm a teacher so will need for things like presentations, Microsoft office use and general browsing but I also occasionally audio edit in Audition and premier, but mostly I want to start practising digital artwork (just as a hobby for now; I understand I'd need to upgrade if I use it lots for this)
Do you think the Ryzen 7 will be fine for this or it's safe to go with Intel to avoid possible compatibility issues?
Ryzen 7 Series are pretty fast processors, with OctaCores and 16 Threads. I just got a Ryzen 7 5700U, and I am really impressed. It is my first Ryzen CPU laptop. I doubt that I will return to Intel. Ryzen is definitely better
th-cam.com/video/x6jh0PEHSpg/w-d-xo.html
Recommendation for any laptop users. Do not keep your laptop at 100 celsius if you want it to last 4+ years.
Thumbs up who thinks intel is paying manufacturers for this differences?
Paying for what? You mean for getting worse ram in their version? :P
Thank you very much for your video, have you noticed that the white screen looks half sepia or yellowish? When it is configured without night light, by default, I need help on that subject, thank you

Great review.
Here 4800U + 8GB is only available.
Will it be sufficient for me to run Autocad, Photoshop & Coreldraw?
I would say yes! The 4800u is very efficient. So if you don't run HUGE projects it should be ok with 8gb.
hope that 8 gigs are 4 and 4 in dual channel mode since single channel ram is a huge bottleneck for ryzen processors

Hello,
between
Intel i7-1165G7/16GB/1TB SSD and
AMD R5-4600U/16GB/1TB SSD
which one would you pick?
The laptop in both cases is Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 and the price difference is only 10 € so let's say it's the same price.
Uses are office work, browsing with many tabs, lightweight gaming like LoL
Yoga Slim 7 14ARE05 is this computer the same as the one you reviewed? The specs seem to be same model but wasn't sure it seems its a ryzen 5/7 could this just be a newer model since this video is 1yr old? any help would be great thanks love the detailed videos!!!
Thankyou Jonas for such insightful videos.

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i with i5-1135G7 Processor and 16GB RAM DDR4 3200MHz
Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 AMD Ryzen 7 4800U Processor and 8GB RAM LPDDR4x 4266MHz
Which of the above laptops would be future proof for at least next 5 years.

Hi W2Best. Great job with your video reviews! It helped me make my decision to buy the slim 7. I just ordered a Slim 7i 15" configured with intel i7 1165G7, xe integrated graphics, 16gb ram (I believe its the 3200 Hz one) and 1TB SSD-station, M.2 2280, PCIe-NVMe, TLC
1. do you think there will be much difference with the 14" that you reviewed?

People Say Iris Xe Is Better Then Vega 7/6 And When I Search On Internet, It Is Showing Vega 9 Is Equal To MX350, Which In Turn Is Better Than Iris Xe, I Think, So Vega 7 Or Xe, Plus Say Me Consideration Over Vega 7 Or Vega 10 3000
