    Reminds me of how jumping spiders evolved big eyes and brains to allow them to jump better, which in turn led to their temperaments becoming sweeter and more curious. It's fascinating.

      Some jumping spiders bite and leave a stinging sensation. They are cute and fun to watch but accidently squeezing one is slightly painful.

      I only know of the Jack Jumpers from Australia. So to find out that there are a lot more types of ants that jump. Including a Trap Jaw ant. That's really cool to find out. :)

    Firstly her jumping on his finger is so cute like a child that puts its arms out when they jump to their parent.
    Secondly I have the Australian jumping jacks come in my bedroom each night and climb on my walls. I discovered they jump when it landed on my head. I still put up with them as they dont bite and are not annoying and disappear by morning.

    Hey buddy, since you also live in NC, I was wondering if you've ever done a study on the "Cow Ant" the big red and black ants that can take down anything in its path. I've seen a wasp or something that looked just like it but with wings and it looked like it was hunting it, so I saved it by moving it away. I didn't know what to do but he looked like he was scrambling to get away from what was chasing it. But they looked identical but one had wings. They're the biggest ant I've ever seen, like an inch long. I'd love to see what you know about them. They're some bad boys.

      @abigailskoda8958 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know this comment was 9 months ago, but this sounds like velvet ant, which is actually a kind of wasp. The males have wings and can fly, while the females are wingless.

    There is an ant here in Australia, "Myrmecia pilosula", who we call Jumping Jacks, or Jumper Ants, which move with a jumping action. They don't bite, but hold with their jaws and then sting with their tails, like a wasp. People can have severe, even deadly, anaphylaxis. Another deadly Australian animal!
