Hi Karen! I have been moved to tell a true story: one year, not so long ago, my sister-in-law was setting up her nativity scene, and when she was finished, she thought, "I wish I had some hay to scatter about the manger." Later that afternoon she stepped outside to collect the mail (or something) and there in the middle of the street was a small clump of hay! Just one small clump! Needless to say she picked it up, cut it into small pieces , and scattered the pieces among the nativity figures. She has used those bits of straw every Christmas since then.

Merry Christmas! I teared up when I saw the nativity set. I purchased that very set in 1968. I had just learned to drive and set out to find the perfect present for my parents. I bought the set and it came with a manger. It cost $50. I had saved money for a long time. My parents loved the gift.I inherited the set. It is my favorite Christmas decoration. My aunt has a beautiful nativity set she has used for 45+ years. Jesus is not in the nativity set until late on Christmas Eve. So an empty cradle would not bother me until Christmas morning. Love that you rescued that set and decided to keep for yourself. I get what you mean when you get a tingle.

A few days ago, at that Goodwill, another popular reseller recognized and picked up that baby Jesus, but left him behind, because he was the only piece on the shelf. He is still there on a shelf. Karen, I have never written, but have been a fan for a couple of years. You are my favorite reseller on You Tube. I am so happy for you and Roger! Also, I wish I could go to the thrift stores you go to. I am in Kansas City, MO area and tried to find a Santa to put in my sleigh outdoors at Red Rax. Couldn't find anything for less than $14.99. the lamb and the blue Angel is from the same Italy nativity set you have. The angel usually is on the roof peak part of the manger looking down on the Nativity set. Very old from the early 60's I think

Hello from Australia, I am in awe of the goodwills you have over your way. So much stock to choose from and the prices are unbelievable. Our local goodwills are competing with KMart in regards to pricing. Saluting your commitment. I used to watch a number of resellers but you and Roger have become my favourites.

I have a set of those nativity clay pieces and they are from my early childhood and I am 67. They are from Italy and mine have a smell to them and when I smell them I think of my childhood. Yours are the same age very old.
Karen - those nativity items are the same on that my Grandparents left me .. the exact same ones ... They are from the 40's ... I don't have my nativity out yet but when I do I will check the company for you and let you know. SAME colors/etc. I have not watched your whole video yet but LOVE your channel.

I just turned on this video and heard you say you're probably going to be in the store for 12 hours! I cannot imagine any Goodwill in this area Dallas Texas having enough stuff to keep you there for 12 hours! And on top of that I can't imagine spending 12 hours in one store anyway . Superwoman!

The goodwill in North Carolina doesn't have enough item worth looking at for 10 mins, let alone all day. Amazing to watch so many TH-camrs go to incredible stores and our have broken junk that should be trash and they use black magic marker for price that ruins everything.
Not all Goodwills are the same . The one by me has nothing but baby clothes and clear glass. Not even worth stopping in; let alone 10 minutes. Savers is bigger but more expensive and NEVER does "half off day" which is reprehensible .

What a wonderful way to work and play at the same time! Roger and Karen, I have been totally enjoying your marathon holiday shopping for resell vids. Glad you got those Italian manger pieces. Another popular reseller was in that same Goodwill recently, recognized and picked up the missing baby Jesus, but put it back on the shelf because there was no manger or any of the other pieces of the set on the shelf, so there's a good chance it's still there. I would definitely do a thorough search of the shelves again, plus do a search for him online, to complete your set. Be Blessed!

If I could move to the country, I would have different kinds of chickens and a pet pig. I like that you like cute piggies too. I grew up in the country, but for 53 years have lived in town. I love your thrift stores and antique stores. I love your old architecture. I'm sure there's even great food there that I can't find here. That being said, after living in Arizona for 27 years there's no way I'd make it through a winter there. I'm too used to my sunshine and warmth. I'd love to come for a visit, though!

That was an amazing Nativity Set. About 5 years ago I got one much like that at Goodwill. I paid $30 bucks. I gave it to the church I attend and always people are amazed at how real and detailed it is. It almost made me cry to. I feel so connected with Jesus, his parents and the no room in the Inn. I'm so glad you found it and you were Blessed to have found it.

That goodwill was awesome! We don’t have goodwills up here in the north country .I love to look and buy vintage Christmas items. You need to get two bungee cords or one then strap them across the top from cart to cart to keep the two together I would think that would be easier to push maybe. ❤love to watch you shop thank you for sharing.❤

Years ago I went to an estate sale ran by the deceased family members, they flew in from out of town and just wanted everything gone! I bought an Anri nativity set for $10. I was a clothing seller then and wouldn't have thought twice about buying it if I hadn't seen the $400 price tag on a box for one piece. I ended up selling each piece individually and made over $2,000. My heart still skips a beat every time I see a nativity set in the thrift! That same yard sale I bought 40 something pieces of St John suit pieces for $150. I put that stuff in the car so fast and got out of there before they could change their mind! I still wonder what goodies I left behind! That estate sale is what thrifter dreams are made of!
the box shaped scenes at 3:23 are strip cord covers (where you plug in lights and displays)...the little cut out on the side is were the cord sits....prettier than looking at all the plugged in cords
