  • After the despair and disappointment of Wasps demise, Dan Robson has had a new lease of life at Section Paloise, and is absolutely loving it, as we find out.

Great channel, Tim, which I've only just caught up with. Long time Eggchasers listener and watcher here. I just wonder if you've made the comparison between French rugby right now and Italian football back in the 90s. I think I'm a bit older than you, but when I was a kid, in the 90s, Serie A was the undisputed champion of football, and I'm sure you'll have seen Channel 4's Football Italia show from that era, which remains the best-ever football show on TV in my opinion, and which loads of men my age remember with great affection. It just strikes me that there's scope to do something similar with French rugby now. Clearly France has the dominant league, or leagues. The Top 14 is obviously superior to the Prem or URC, but I suspect the Pro D2 isn't far behind them, either. Even the third tier of French rugby looks interesting. They have big crowds, great atmosphere, old-school physicality and more flair than you could shake a baguette at. What the British rugby public needs is an equaivalent of Football Italia - call it 'Rugby Francais', hosted by you, on whichever channel is smart enough to sign you up. This is my dream. I hope you can make it happen!
Love these videos teaching us about the culture behind the clubs in French rugby. I still haven't decided who to 'support'. Possibly La Rochelle because I like ROG and had a good holiday in the town years ago. But they feel a bit nouveaux riches. Bezier have some appeal as the fallen giants. I'll watch your videos and make a choice.

You asked my question, American here trying to get a handle on the sport... Does it mean they can take players out and put them back in?. That's what I gathered from the reply, but as I am learning the sport I am seeing you typically can't go back in after going out. Would love some clarity if possible.
