@@solkimmyjones I will always choose Carlos Spencer over Carter. Carter was greater statistically speaking, but King Carlos was just so much more exciting to watch like a bloody rugby magician.
@@Navigator_Isle I know what you mean, Carter was more reliable and better all round but when Spencer was on, he was ON. No one else could pull off the shit that he did
I still don't think I have seen a winger with more flair than him. For all the well deserved praise Lomu receives, I got to say Rokocoko is the best winger to put on the all blacks jersey in my opinion.
+tysonuk The games played in a diffrent form now I reckon, the AB's have SO many great center backs it seems the wingers get less of a change of scoring as to back then. But AB's have Savea, and hes one of a very best, still young with plenty of miles still in him. Wait and see ;)
tysonuk Nooo.. he is very good yes of course, but not the best. Hey watch the doco '100 YEARS OF ALL BLACK RUGBY AT HOME'. Im actually picking John Kirwan on wing! The guy was a machine! I didnt know how good he actually was as I was too young then. But heck, he was amazing. Please try and watch it.
+tysonuk I think he was extremely underrated when compared to Lomu. Although Savea has now surpassed Lomu's shadow, I always thought Joe sparked the era of the "full package" winger.
Air Rokocoko. Loved watching rugby when Joe was at the top of his game, with the finishing dive landing that he took to just another notch level up. Great watch.
Joe went to my school in pakuranga and his mum and dad lived down my road when I was growing up. I remember walking home one night when he almost hit me with his orange jeep lol. He was my fuck'n idol growing up man and I love watching these especially now with the RWC2015 going on.
+caza00caza I also went to St Kents and boarded at Bruce House. I was a couple years younger than Rokocoko so I only met him a few times during school, and watched him played in the 1st XV. We are sons of Kentigern! Wonder how Mr. Cowie is doing....
He was really an X factor player.. it was a shame the All blacks used him then chucked him out in his prime and they've paid the price heavily without him. He was awesome on the left wing so why change him to the right where he hardly got the ball and then coaches say he's lost form.. dumb az. What a delight to see Joe play and those famous dives 🙂
Great ball carrier, excellent finisher, brilliant explosive pace and power, but his only weaknesses was his positional defense and work under the high ball, still a great winger in his time.
dont get me wrong, i love watching savea, jane, and dagg wreak havoc in the back three for the all blacks, but i used to love watching the combination of rokocoko, sivivatu, and muliaina
NZ couldn't snap up Caucau and probably thought Rokocoko (also Fijian) was going to become a greater player. NZ got Rokocoko but if they had snatched up Caucau to play for NZ he would have done wild magic for them and also I reckon he'd still be playing top flight super rugby and international rugby. But credit to Caucau for sticking to Fiji - you cant beat the pride in playing for your home country. And I have to say that Joe has done EXTREMELY WELL for NZ anyways..
That spin and offload against France (0:22), does anyone have a full link of that, that was some dazzling leg work, and led to a try, if I recall correctly.
Rokocoko introduced us to the vertical fend. It's a Fijian trademark. Instead of stretching the arm out, the arm stays down but stiff. And when you hit them, you only hit and hold on to the arm, not the body, and they brush you aside.
Obviously. He's a well accomplished rugby player, legendary All Black as well as winger, St.Kent's legend, role model for aspiring young pacific players, classy showman and to top it off a very humble person. Whereas im just a 17 year old prop forward who tried to emulate his favourite wings dive in a secondary's college match.. Good Call Sherlock
If you notice most of Rok's highlights are approx '03 to '06(and rightly so). Mind you he played for NZ till around 2011. I think his major problem was that around '06 to '07he put on noticeable bulk and moved from an elusive burn you with pace player (think around '03 where he was 90kgs or a little over at best) to around '08 onwards (where he was over 100 kgs) and was first, a more physically confrontational player and less elusive. This shift in ideology i believe was his greatest undoing.
Undoughtbly the best finishers of the game - the fijian flyers: rococoko, sivivatu, caucau, vunibaka,Naholo, Nadolo, reece, delasau, tuqiri, radradraradra, tuisova, goneva, bobo and a dozen others to name.
Yea that's why it's called a Fijian trademark. Fijians have been doing it for 50 years. But Rokocoko just hahppened to be the first high profile All Black, so he has more TV exposure than previous Fijians.
Jonah already said himself that Caucau is the best winger in the world, I know he was being humble and all but look at it like this, Jonah Lomu was peaking right at the start of the professional era when guys werent as big or well conditioned as today, Jonah wouldnt be able to run through half the french/english team today. Roko and Caucau are wingers in the classical sense of what a winger is, fast and agile.
Joe was a James Cook man! Got a scholarship to go st kents for 7th form. He never forgot where his stomping grounds were :) for me the best winger the all blacks have had. Rate him higher then Jonah! Haha. Step hit and spin!
the sad thing was that after the 2007 world cup he was never the same player since, he just didn't have that same spark that made him great. Shame :( as I was such a HUGE admire of him. Him and Douggie were the best combo
that is so true bro ...never do really thought about that fact ...I came to the in the early statesaround 2000 and guys out here dont get the trick behind it they come flying and they go flying past coz of that all they get is the arm and to make it worse rugby out here is during winter raining season ...
That Dan Carter, Umaga, Laulala, Muliaina and Rocokoko backline was monsterous! Will never forget the days!
Spencer was awesome too, he worked very well with Rokocoko especially
@@solkimmyjones I will always choose Carlos Spencer over Carter. Carter was greater statistically speaking, but King Carlos was just so much more exciting to watch like a bloody rugby magician.
@@Navigator_Isle I know what you mean, Carter was more reliable and better all round but when Spencer was on, he was ON. No one else could pull off the shit that he did
Laulala? I'm sure he only played 1 test.
Dont forget maa nonu lol
I still don't think I have seen a winger with more flair than him. For all the well deserved praise Lomu receives, I got to say Rokocoko is the best winger to put on the all blacks jersey in my opinion.

I have no doubt in my mind Savea will go down in history as the best. At least for a short period anyway.
tysonuk Nooo.. he is very good yes of course, but not the best. Hey watch the doco '100 YEARS OF ALL BLACK RUGBY AT HOME'. Im actually picking John Kirwan on wing! The guy was a machine! Saveas awesome but I think he lacks flair. JR is the most skillfull winger of all time.
One of his biggest supporters. He carved my beloved Springboks up back in the day.
Whenever I think of the good old rugby days the first thing that comes to mind is that dive from Rokococo
"LEGEND" one of if not the best winger ever!
My dad Use to call him Joe fast fucking Coco.
Oh how I miss the sight of that swan dive
Best dive in the professional era.
Who else is here after he announced his retirement
Yep, outstanding AB winger...
At his peak during the first half of his career he was damn near unstoppable. Great video.
Air Rokocoko. Loved watching rugby when Joe was at the top of his game, with the finishing dive landing that he took to just another notch level up. Great watch.
Too Much Speed
Joe went to my school in pakuranga and his mum and dad lived down my road when I was growing up. I remember walking home one night when he almost hit me with his orange jeep lol. He was my fuck'n idol growing up man and I love watching these especially now with the RWC2015 going on.

We are sons of Kentigern!
Wonder how Mr. Cowie is doing....
he practically invented the hit and spin and the pirouette spinning side step, he was great for NZ and the Blues, miss him
He was really an X factor player.. it was a shame the All blacks used him then chucked him out in his prime and they've paid the price heavily without him. He was awesome on the left wing so why change him to the right where he hardly got the ball and then coaches say he's lost form.. dumb az. What a delight to see Joe play and those famous dives 🙂
guy was an absolute beast in his prime. One of my favourite players.
One of the most lethal winger to play the game
Great ball carrier, excellent finisher, brilliant explosive pace and power, but his only weaknesses was his positional defense and work under the high ball, still a great winger in his time.
Joe had it all man , one of the most complete wingers to play the game....he punished us and every other team many a time.👏👏🇿🇦🤙
Some of the best footy ever! And some great names from the past. Awesome memories
Phenomenal player. One of the greatest wingers of all time.
3:14 ran through some legends on this run Botha Matfield Devilliers and Burger hahaha
can't even imagine playing against rokocoko on the left wing, and sivivatu on the right hahah such a deadly combination
ONE OF MY FAVORITE PLAYERS!!! RESPECT!!
Definitly one of the most exciting players in his prime!
will always be my favourite player
2:35 disgusting trip there after a neck stretcher. What a prat.
Although - I gotta admit that it was nice having Roks and Sivivatu in the same team for as long as we did
dont get me wrong, i love watching savea, jane, and dagg wreak havoc in the back three for the all blacks, but i used to love watching the combination of rokocoko, sivivatu, and muliaina
No doubt one of the most exciting player in an all blacks jersey.
3:11 one of the most brilliant individual try's you will see at international level
3:57 the rocket man !! Damn 100% agree. He is fast
He Makes it Look Very Easy haha
I think his only jogging from the 50m 😂
Thats why you slow down when chip the ball..
Imagine he went full speed 🉐
That spin and offload against France (0:22), does anyone have a full link of that, that was some dazzling leg work, and led to a try, if I recall correctly.
I used to like rugby a lot more back then. Not sure why, but all the players were so unique
Legend. I use to love watching the all blacks when he was on
you're the man rokz ! come back again someday
There's a clip somewhere of that try against France where he did a complete spin, this guy was so light on his feet.
My Gooosh, what a player! He really was great wasn't he! Miss you Joe Rokocoko!
FUK i miss this guy one of the best wings for the ABS
Great Clip, I forgot how bloody good he was back in the day.

Good Call Sherlock
That roll on his back to score that try was great, that's O'Driscoll level of skill that.
one of the best of all time for sure
after the intro, was that "Por Ti Volare" techno version??
Hardworking wing, really earned his money on the day.. Bless him..
Will message you a link to a video that demonstrates this Fijian fend.
If you notice most of Rok's highlights are approx '03 to '06(and rightly so). Mind you he played for NZ till around 2011. 4:20 is my favourite part hands down
Love Rokocoko........ massive bloke but played like a super lithe small guy.......... EPIC STYLE POINTS
whats up with the black bit at the end??
Undoughtbly the best finishers of the game - the fijian flyers: rococoko, sivivatu, caucau, vunibaka,Naholo, Nadolo, reece, delasau, tuqiri, radradraradra, tuisova, goneva, bobo and a dozen others to name.
What's the name of the first song?
Rokocoko, quite possibly the best winger to bless a rugby pitch
What's the song at 0:45?
that grubber kick and chase was beast
he was a really good winger, but when it came to around 2010-2011, thats where he caked it
what was the music that went through the whole video
Can you put a video up!
the most underated player of all time
LEGEND
Smoothest dive of all time
could you show me a video or tutorial of this?
4:18 to 5:13 is blank wtf
I have always admire the way this guy scores a try ..... In the air ..... with a leap ..... lol
2:56 - What dreams are made of!
At his peak, Joe wore jet shoes and had jet pace.
ただ速いだけじゃないウィングってホントカッコいい。
i remember this guy back when he was in his prime... mr untouchable try scoring machine!!
Yea that's why it's called a Fijian trademark. Fijians have been doing it for 50 years. But Rokocoko just hahppened to be the first high profile All Black, so he has more TV exposure than previous Fijians.
ROCKATHOCKO HAHAHA brings back memories THE GOOSE STEP KING THIS GUYS IS THE ALLEN IVERSON OF RUGBY
Watch 3:53 isnt that forward?
i am surpised there is no footage of his Bayonne tries so far ...
Jonah already said himself that Caucau is the best winger in the world, I know he was being humble and all but look at it like this, Jonah Lomu was peaking right at the start of the professional era when guys werent as big or well conditioned as today, Jonah wouldnt be able to run through half the french/english team today. Is is pronounced as its spelled or with a th in it? My friend keeps saying its rokothoko
Joe was a James Cook man! Got a scholarship to go st kents for 7th form. He never forgot where his stomping grounds were :) for me the best winger the all blacks have had. Rate him higher then Jonah! Haha. Step hit and spin!
how do you dive with swag
The try at 3:24 how the hell do you even do that against South Africa. Pure brilliance
Probably cos he's Fijian, so he's very humble! which is also why he's a great player!
the mans still only 30.. he can still come play for the All Blacks when ever
When he started he went around people near the end he could go around and through people easily
Who's #13 that passes at 0:50??
Casey Laulala I believe. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casey_Laulala
***** pretty sure it was Casey Laulala
+Epz Ravonokula yup
the sad thing was that after the 2007 world cup he was never the same player since, he just didn't have that same spark that made him great. Shame :( as I was such a HUGE admire of him. Him and Douggie were the best combo
He became a marked man.. He was still the fastest Allblack at the time but better defence systems negated his impact. Same thing happened to Habana..
hes got a higher try count and ratio and percentage than Lomu. He should always be in the conversation of best winger to ever play the game.
Mark Telea is similar to him I think.
All Blacks god of rugby!! LOVE ALL BLACKS!!! LOVE RUGBY!!!
One of the All Black stars that was born in Fiji
3:57 best try I've ever seen.
Miss these days :(
Rocket Joe.
Dammmm no wonder he's was called the rocket man, the moment he takes they be lucky to catch him 😮😮😮
Dude would go beast mode every time he played africa
My granddad use to call him Joe wanna cup of cocoa. I miss them both!
That pommy broke trying to trip him at 2:40!
2:39 soccer sweep?
gotta love the spin step!
that is so true bro ...never do really thought about that fact ...I came to the in the early statesaround 2000 and guys out here dont get the trick behind it they come flying and they go flying past coz of that all they get is the arm and to make it worse rugby out here is during winter raining season ...
My God! Could you imagine what the All Blacks could have done if they had Lomu and Rocokoko in the same team?? DRRROOOOOLLLL
Spencer, Umaga,Kelleher ,Muliaina, Rakocoko 。This is all black‘s dream-line!
Straight up legend
2:48 He looks like he's thinking "Holy s*** I caught it!"
