This generation wants to break records. Their coaches push them and challenge them in this way to become the most titled generation of Stade Toulousain.
For example, Emile N'tamack won 6 Brennus and 3 H-Cup. Romain has ''only" 4 Brennus and 2 Champions Cup. Jérôme Cazalbou and Hugues Miorin won 7 Brennus for ST.

Toulouse is the only Top 14 team that has enough good players to play the long Top 14 season AND the Champion's Cup, managing to set a squad (including the bench) to win the crucial matches at the end, despite the injuries. This final was won whithout Baille, Lebel and Meafou. 58 players this season, for winning the CC's group stage matches with bonus points to have the home advantage, ganing 1st place in Top 14 regular phase in order to go directly in semi-final. The number of players at the top national level, in all non-professional young classes, is incredible.

Was hoping for a great match, but we got a spectacle nonetheless. Wondering if the previous month had taken its toll on UBB? They looked fatigued, although Toulouse may have made everyone look tired

Exactly, UBB had difficult matches in quarter and semi-final, so their forwards were tired, Jalibert and the huge right prop Tameifuna coming back from injury. The Toulouse coaching team have determined UBB's vulnerabilities and determined tactics accordingly. After 20 minutres, Bordeaux forwards were slower to shift laterally than ST ones. Only La Rochelle has the forwards to dominate Toulouse in breakdown.

You're right, UBB looked tired, playing their first final (and how manage the pressure) or had less top players on the bench, no doubt, but imo the main factor happened at the end of the 2 semies finals : the mindset focus.
While ST's players contained their joy, knowing that's just a step, staying focus on the main goal, for UBB's players and staff it was different.
It was a joy explosion, like if acceeding the final was THE victory (after 3 losses in semies). It's mentally hard to refocus and remobilize psychological ressources in only few days.
UBB is a young club (built in 2006), they learnt a hard lesson this friday but i'm sure it's a bad for a good. Ugo Mola told Maxime Lucu at the end, on the pitch while consoling him : ''In years coming you will break our balls" and he's true. If they're able to mentally manage this disappointment, they will get stronger.
      A ST fan.

Bordeaux had a horrible day: nothing worked, too many mistakes and they became disorganized as the minutes went by until the despair at the end of the game. The worst happened at the worst time. Toulouse is the best European team, not only this season... and they were not going to waste a situation like this. Really disappointing game as a neutral spectator, but full of details to learn from. Thank you very much for the video.

Sorry folks tried to google this, but couldn't get an answer, is there a limited # of players you can have on contract in top 14 Rugby? Seems like a very long season they have, and Toulouse maybe have more players so they can rotate more so their players are healthier game time? I saw the number 23 for matchday squad, but if they have a rotation system to avoid injury or help those injured to recover more slowly it seems like the deciding factor.

There is a salary cap in france, all clubs comply with it.
But Toulouse has a great academy. From 6 y/o to 35 y/o, the training is based on the same tactics and game philosophy. So many young players have been involved in the matchs this year, enabling the professional players to rest. And it was easy for the young players to integrate the team because the knew the strategy and the game by heart. 59 players contribute this year to the european and the french cups wining!

no but it was a bit borderline. going frame by frame he goes for the ball and actually his arm hits the shoulder. Mauvaka's head doesn't really move on the impact. So a bit desperate from Tameifuna but still ok.
