Bellic weny silent and low after the Death of Kate and made the promise to be a good uncle to Roman's Child. If you choose revenge Nico would have done the same and be a good uncle to Roman's Child when he died.
Niko might still be alive due to the fact that you can use him as a parent in gta5 online, his coat is in the bar at the top of the map, he also has wanted posters at the too of the map, and in gta story mode he has a profile on that website everyone uses (I forgot the name of the website)
