    Nice vid ... I love this mode, also I’d suggest sending guys to train out as often as you can. I did that and when they came back they had developed relationships with other promotions that made easier to loan, invite, and cross promote with. Even did a partnership with one and was very profitable. By year 3 I was up to 20 mi in assets!

    • @GamerUnderDev
      @GamerUnderDev  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very nice, I'm only at 1mil assets in year 3 but we do have the #1 Gym in the world now. I wasn't entirely sure what the outcome of sending people abroad was, I did it with a couple people and only really noticed their popularity increased in the region they trained in which was useful but not worth sacrificing another match. I typically use it when I've got an odd number of wrestlers and don't want to invite other companies wrestlers due to the risk of no show.
      If you don't mind me asking have you noticed anything in particular from partnerships other than it being easier to cross-promote/share talent?

    • @BigDEE1220
      @BigDEE1220 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    • @Thor-Orion
      @Thor-Orion ปีที่แล้ว

      @@michaelwells2624 I would’ve loved to see somebody like a Bob Backlund hook Hulk Hogan and make him submit before pinning him for good measure. That’s why Bobby had to drop it to Sheiky Baby who then dropped it to Hogan. Bob had no respect for Hulk’s actual wrestling ability, and I agree with him. Your champion should be able to hold his own in a real grappling contest with amateur rules. That’s why Kurt Angle is actually the most legitimate World Champion any promotion has ever had. Jack Briscoe is in the top 5 for sure, as are Billy Robinson and Frank Gotch. To my understanding Bob Roop was quite capable as well. But I have Brock Lesner at 2. He may actually be number 1, but I count it based on amateur wrestling and grappling ability, not MMA ability, Brock used a lot of ground and pound which isn’t exactly a technically demanding style for a man of his size to be utilizing. But also, we know that Brock and Kurt had a little more amateur freestyle wrestling match in the ring one day before fans got there and they both admit Kurt won. Which is crazy considering the size he was giving up.

  • @nathanbaldwin4495
    @nathanbaldwin4495 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    To be realistic wrestler draw power would have to count more than match quality. It explains WWE outdrawing all other companies while being maybe third for match quality after NJPW and PWG or something.

    • @GamerUnderDev
      @GamerUnderDev  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nathan Baldwin Oh absolutely it’s just disappointing that there is less reward for investing in raising people’s pop than there is from just hiring a higher pop worker. In Promoter the gain you get from building a Star from scratch (often times something that will uplift an entire promotion) is pretty much non-existant. For example, it takes ~13-14 perfect matches to take someone to C ranking from a D and a D tank beating an S rank yields no more popularity than a D rank beating a D rank which also doesn’t make real wrestling sense. It’s not that the system
      Is bad it’s just very shallow.

    • @nathanbaldwin4495
      @nathanbaldwin4495 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s unfortunate. I could imagine a way to manage popularity better. Pop bump could be inversely correlated with match length to simulate squash matches and also be a function of the opponents popularity and attack/defence rating. Some should be able to come in and squash A and B popularity guys with A and B attack and defence and get over quick. Maybe they could even factor in how long a wrestler has held particular popularity so that you could build up monster heels over six months but if they lose a couple of matches when only reaching A or B popularity for a month, they are more likely to drop down again. I’m no game developer though so maybe that is technically too difficult.

    • @GamerUnderDev
      @GamerUnderDev  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nathan Baldwin I’m not a game developer but I am a programmer what your suggesting isn’t difficult it’s not something requiring animations and multiple tie in systems it’s just background conditionals they should have done things like that but they instead made it a barebones shell which is very unfortunate especially after it was delayed for so very long but it probably had a lot to do with them hiring new devs to finish Promoter since the originals weren’t around anymore. I’m just waiting for Carl to mod the crap out of Promoter and fix all that XD

    • @nathanbaldwin4495
      @nathanbaldwin4495 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      GUD hahah so good. Yeah I thought that it wouldn’t be hard. I’ve got my fantasy game developer hat on now. Lol. There is so much you could do. A winner could score popularity that is a function of match quality, match duration, opponent quality and opponent popularity. But you could do it in a way where the loser could even gain popularity if the match quality was high enough. I’m thinking of rivalries where two wrestlers trade wins but the match quality is high enough where they both gain popularity despite not improving their win/loss record like RVD/Lynn or Booker T/Benoit.
      Also it doesn’t make sense for a Stone Cold type to gain popularity from beating a jobber but the other way around should give the jobber a boost, albeit maybe a boost that will fade more quickly than stringing together a 10-2 record over a year or something.

    • @GamerUnderDev
      @GamerUnderDev  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nathan Baldwin yeah the reality is all of that would simply be done via comparison of attributes the game is already tracking. There are some pretty talented models working on the game and I wouldn’t be against taking a stab at the code myself some day it’s just an issue of time I spend so much of it working on this channel that between that, work, and my fiancé I hardly have time to dig into new things. Like I’ve started texture modding for FPWW and Wazamake (move building) but I only ever scrape together 10-25 mins here and there XD. Totally worth though next weeks GFW Pulse is going to be nuclear 🔥 we should have 3 story segments and a match

  • @RevolverOcelot2008

    Lol every time I hear Paul Collins I think Phill Collins😂
    Yeah for me the worst match was my heavyweight title match with Matt Hardy vs Goldberg(custom promotion but I let the game pick my starting six with randomization)
    The best match was actually Kane with D popularity with c popularity. 94%

    • @GamerUnderDev
      @GamerUnderDev  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      franchise98bjn You just kinda choose I think that in this case the stables they give you “666” and “Noble” have very specific connotations. Otherwise there is a heel fight style that makes people boo when an edit taunts but if you’re on PC the mods also offer a Heel Database which allows you to flag your heels

  • @mattjcont
    @mattjcont 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    If I could offer some advice, for the first 6 months or so only book 3 match cards and book title matches more often. Using only wrestlers signed to your promotion.
    My early shows would open with a JR Heavyweight title match, then a Face Stable vs Heel Stable single match, then a Heavyweight Title match. This formula seemed to help my talent get over pretty quickly.
    Once your roster expands to 8 wrestlers, I would alternate between a Heavyweight Tag Title Match and the Jr Heavyweight match on the cards.
    These 3 match cards are also more likely to generate a 90% or higher match rating (when wrestlers are matched up properly) which grew my promotions popularity quicker.
    I was able to run my first 10k seater Urban venue event in November of year 1 using these short cards.
    PS. I agree with you about Bill Bullock. The guy is a star tag team wrestler in my promotion.

    • @GamerUnderDev
      @GamerUnderDev  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's probably a good idea early on for sure. If you get lucky with invited wrestlers and merchandise you can make money hand over fist. The original tutorial was more focused in financial gain than popularity because a lot of people seemed to struggle with staying afloat.

    Have you tried booking squash matches to raise a wrestler’s draw power? I would hope the game would reward booking guys strong in squash matches like Goldberg was booked. His matches early would have to be rated around 60% and he probably started with a C or D popularity but with A+ attack and defence and ended up being a draw. Or Ultimate Warrior who ended up being a huge draw.

    • @GamerUnderDev
      @GamerUnderDev  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It doesn't that's sort of the problem, the mode lacks any depth in that regard the math behind the engine is super simple. For example, wrestlers who are brand new and starting at a D have 0 popularity and are caped at 1.5 pop gain per match (not counting slight bonuses from being in title matches, those are like .5 - 1 point) in order to reach C you are required to have 20 for C rating. There is no bonus for winning over any particular opponent in any sort of way, what you get on that range of 0 - 1.5 is entirely based on match rating.
      It's a very shallow system that hides the shallowness well. It doesn't make promoter unfun by any means but you have to take it for what it is and accept that you aren't going to get anything like a Gargano/Ciampa feud bumping pop or a goldberg streak bumping pop. They absolutely should but they don't for the most part Promoter is a money management mode.
      Where it does excel is in the ability to add real world companies in and compete with them financially. Otherwise if you are looking for more of a GM mode experience the modpack on PC contains a mod called MotW that will allow you to book cards, track draw values, has random events, allows interview segments, has controllable outcomes/run-ins, and is basically vastly superior in every way, except for the competing financially with other feds.

      You could prioritize the doctors in month one though and get the rest after you start putting on profitable shows. That being said my wrestlers in year two have become adept at stealing other promotions belts in cross-promotional events (because while I'm not highest on every chart my gym is the 3rd best in the world). Those stolen titles mean more title matches and more seats. I'm regularly filling arenas with $100 ticket prices now. Plus we got our first TV Deal which isn't that great and has no gameplay effect either than more money and an average match requirement.

    • @GamerUnderDev

      On PS4 you are limited by game mechanics, meaning you can either control the person you want to win the match or remove the ability for one wrestler to pin/sub someone from their logic.
      On PC you have options, the modpack which is linked in the description of this video has a panel called "Match Pacing & Booking Options" which will allow you to set whom will win and how they will win.
      Welcome to the community and if you enjoyed the Tutorial definitely check out our GFW series.

      @@supersteve76 On PS4 you'll be limited to things available on FPW Net and the official content released. In that case I would highly recommend Promoter mode, if you don't have any interest in Japanese wrestling you could skip the other DLCs however they do come with new parts and moves that you will have no other means to acquire and may be used by online creations you download (thus making them unusable without the appropriate DLC).
      Still very much worth the money in my opinion, I just tend to recommend PC users look into the modpack before dumping cash into Promoter or other DLC (since it can pretty much replace everything those DLCs provide). You will be able to run Promoter mode with custom promotions modeled after Real World Promotions though which is quite fun.

    I was working on mine today and three companies went out of business at once on month 6. Which completely sucks... because the belts and wrestlers are just gone now. Do the wrestlers stay gone after that? Or will they turn up again later? Also I have a roster of around 700 plus with guys from all over. Maybe I had too many signed to the rosters? I’m not sure. Maybe I should place half in free agents half on the companies.

    • @GamerUnderDev
      @GamerUnderDev  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      To my knowledge the wrestler pool is set at the beginning of a save and it doesn't really generate new ones, rather it reveals them as the game goes so it would make sense for them to reappear. However, the modpack on PC has an option to make bankrupt companies wrestlers available as free agents which makes me think the base game doesn't include that feature :(
      I have heard that starting rival promotions with too many workers will bankrupt them quickly like that I had something like 80 people in NOAH and they have hung in there but I'm not sure what the upward limit on roster size should be. Promoter is a fun mode but there are a lot of common sense things they seemed to have ignored (like the bankruptcies).

      GUD yeah it’s a good mode for sure my first one went through to almost two years with no incident. But I restarted because I had new edits I wanted to use. And this time it changed. I actually haven't made one using my own custom promotions yet. I'll take a look tonight but I would say that everything probably scales based off number of wrestlers on the roster. To make a cross-promotional event you go to event > cross-promotion and offer it to the company. They may turn you down for a variety of reasons.
      In order to trade talent the best option is to partner with a company via human resources > broker contract. Once again they may turn you down.
      As a last resort you can simply invite their talent or loan your talent to them doing either should raise the companies opinion of you making the former two options easier.

That being said while I don't suspect much to be modified about Fire Promoter there are thankfully modders for those on PC.
      Carlzilla and the rest of the modders in his Discord community are incredible. Fire Promoter has been out ~1 week and they have already fixed not being able to select a ring for your Promoter company and not being able to import new wrestlers into an existing promoter mode.

      They need to have good matches, place them up against your highest attack/defense wrestlers. To build pop in other regions send them on training expeditions there or loan them to a company in that region and hope they have a good match.
      Match eval is largely based on the attack/defense stats when simming the matches, the higher the match eval the more popularity they gain. You can also invite highly popular wrestlers from other promotions and if your guy wins over them they can steal some pop.

      More incoming soon I even have an e-fed that I've been having trouble finding time to arrange that I'm considering putting into Fire Promoter. If I did so we could take user edits for the fed even easier.

      The version in the video is the steam version, it's a DLC though so if you haven't purchased it then it won't be available.

    "Early on I'm not gonna pay ANYBODY just to talk to them"
    Proceeds to do just that. Not the brightest bulb are we....

      I said not going to pay anybody "that" (I think) I wasn't willing to pay $1500 to talk to someone uninterested I believe if I recall correctly we spent $500 to talk to someone more likely to sign as you can't really talk to people completely free, but good catch. Hope you enjoyed the tutorial regardless.

    This isn't a very good tutorial at all. You never spend money you don't have and by year 2 you should have well over 2mil not less than 500k

      Krontok well considering this came out just after release and was designed to help people that were bankrupting in the first couple months I would say it’s decent. Also having 2mil doesn’t matter to me. Having facilities to reduce injuries and grow my talent was honestly more important money can come later. (By year three I had the best facilities in the world)
      There is a 102 where we talk a bit more about other aspects and I know even more about some of the popularity mechanics now. If you had 2mil and you were killing it in year yep that’s good, you probably don’t need this then. 102 is about title stealing and cross-promotion.
      We’re also doing a 16 company playthrough right now where we started with the Taichi cheat and burned the money back down to the normal starting cash. That is a bit more challenging as you don’t have the popularity to book great cards.
      Welcome to the community sorry the tutorial is a bit dated.
