Wanted to say that I accidentally misspoke and said 1880s instead of 1860s for the civil war and for the slavery, I accidentally said that some of them were current slaves when I meant to say that they were former slaves.
Hello Harmin, I live on the Eastern side of Washington. I’m not native to Washington State but have lived here for 6 1/2 years. Have you ever thought of doing a video about Wellington, WA? Wellington is also a ghost town. In 1910, there was a deadly railroad accident. A train headed from Spokane to Seattle was struck in Wellington due to a blizzard. There was so much snow that there was an avalanche and the train was pushed off its tracks. The train was destroyed and 96 people were killed.
@@jackiehoward7300 Hey jackie!! You're in luck as I filmed that several years ago. Here's the link for it.. th-cam.com/video/8R4V-kV-qGA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=QntmX2LwXLiZR_U4
@@NancyCampbellNance Awesome nancy!! 👌 Thank you! Will definitely try to go back and film that plane! Merry Christmas to you and your family/friends 🎄🎄🎁
For some reason my original response isn’t showing..ugh. I happened to check just now after receiving a notice that someone liked my comment. Just in case you see this, my response is yes. I would love to see the plane, but only if it can be reached without endangering your safety. Hopefully this comment will go through. Thank you!
Hi Harmin..interesting as always ...just knowing the place once had people there....very sad about the miners death.....very tragic Thanks and have a safe holiday Peace.
A little early but Merry Christmas to everyone! Not a regular but I pop by from time to time, the respect you show to the gravesites is what I always loved about ya Harmin, from way back in the Harmin Vlogs days.
Merry Christmas, Harmin 🎄 Good to hear from you with such a fascinating story. Hope you have a peaceful but enjoyable Christmas season. Stay safe on your travels. Janice 🇬🇧
Hi again Harmin, great video. Yes, I would love it if you were to try to find that airplane, or even the town itself. I love history, and finding a lost town would be extraordinary. Thank you for taking the time to do all that climbing; maybe start earlier, lol. Stay safe dear friend.
Thanks Harmon. Really enjoy your channel. Looking forward to what is coming up next. Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas from across the pond. 👍
So interesting!! Wish there would've been more buildings to see but mother nature had other plans! Yes the plane wreck would be great to explore when you can! Merry Christmas Harmin and as always another great video! Thank you!
Wow Harmin you walked a long way. This story is very interested seeing cemeteries burial ground that has been neglected for almost a century. Thank you. Rest In Peace.🕊️🙏🏼
Hey thank you so much!! I hope you had a merry Christmas/happy holidays and will have a nice new year! Got lots of interesting videos plannned and a huge surprise coming up next year!
I lived up the road from Franklin, in Cumberland. The other town you mentioned is Black Diamond, not Blackrock. Black Diamond was named after the Black Diamond coal company. Back in the 70's I was one of the volunteers that cleaned up the cemetery. You wouldn't have even known it was there, before. Franklin was in the area where you saw the coal cart. That cart was down by the road the last time I was out that way. As youngsters, we would throw M-80's down that mine, and others, before that grate was placed over it. We caused a minor explosion one time as we ignited methane gas. Never did it again. Do you live in the area? A good book to read on local history is Black Diamond, Mining the Memories by Diane and Cory Olson. It includes Franklins history as well. Good luck out there and be safe!
Thank you for your videos. I never miss them. You are one of my favorite TH-camrs. Western Washington is an incredible place. I absolutely love the Cascades. They are so humbling and beautiful. 🌲🍁🌳
New subscriber here! I absolutely love the channel. Your videos are awesome and they're very well put together. It's all high quality stuff. I appreciate the hard work it doesn't go unnoticed
I would definitely love to see you go back and explore some more. I think that would make another awesome video. Merry Christmas and the happiest of New Year’s to you and yours.
First Merry Christmas and happy new year to you and your family. I enjoyed the video and glad you still saw a building from that town. Till next time you take care.😢😮
Another awesome project. Interesting piece of history. Most unfortunate that so many lost their lives. Glad the one alleged to have started the fire is said to have died in it. Very cool finds. Take care and may you have a very Merry Christmas.🎄
@noragibson5293 Haha. That's a fair observation. I think I just had tons of adrenaline because I was so interested in filming them. Thanks nora! Merry Christmas/happy holidays 🎄🎁
Could you use a drone to find the plane? Very interesting location. It's sad to think of all those final resting places being taken back by nature, but I guess, sometimes that's the way of things. Merry Christmas, Harmin!
Yes, please look into the possible plane crash, if it's safe for you to get there. If it isn't, maybe just tell us the story anyway! My great-grandfather and uncles worked in the mines here in WNC. It's dangerous work. Thank you for sharing this with us! I hope you have the best Christmas ever
Excellent video, Harmin... It was great to see you! A very interesting video. Loved it. Harmin, I got to ask you this... Don't you get scared, hiking through these woods alone? If not, good for you, but I know I would be so damn' scared. Looking forward to your next video. Oh, when it comes to that plane, that crashed on the mountaintop, I would definitely love to see a video on it. Anyway, Happy Holidays to you, Harmin. Peace 🕊️ and ❤️ to you and yours!
Another crazy story, one never knows the history under our feet. I appreciate all your work and hiking to bring these stories. I have been to Washington state twice and it is indeed beautiful. I'm from and live in a former coal mining town here in Nova Scotia, of which most of our province has been for 100's of years. We are no stranger to countless mining deaths from explosions and being trapped, including one that took my close friend at age 25. Brutal hard and dangerous work. I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas.
@bobmalone6076 Ohh yeah. I believe I said black rock. Lol. I hiked 7 miles before this so my brain was not working properly. Lol. Anyway that's cool you lived near there. Thanks bob for watching!! Hope to see you on the next one
Really interesting place, wild how people existed and then just gone forever, be cool to get rid of blueberries and see more! Thanks Harmon for taking us there!
That's a great job you did getting up there. Love not very far away from there. So many small towns that went away. A lot of them were because of all of the watersheds taken for the city's around the Puget Sound.
What an interesting bit of history. Too bad the cemetery isn't better managed, all those forgotten soles, so sad! Merry Christmas and all the Best in the New Year.
My parents love Washington and my Dad always mentions he loves how green it is and that is one reason why he loves it there. This is an interesting story and seeing the leftover mining equipment is cool! My 2x Great Uncle died in a mining accident in 1888 in PA and less than a year later his 17 year old son died in the same mine. His Mom (my 2x Great Aunt) was left to raise 10 children ( maybe more, I can’t remember exactly). She never remarried and was well loved in the community. She passed right before her 101st birthday!
I had missed this one somehow. This is a very sad story Harmon, to think there are still men working underground, to me the creepiest place on earth to work. It really freaks me out you walking around so deep in the woods alone. If you hurt your leg or something, you really should have a travel Buddy.
Wanted to say that I accidentally misspoke and said 1880s instead of 1860s for the civil war and for the slavery, I accidentally said that some of them were current slaves when I meant to say that they were former slaves.
Glad you spotted it and apologised - shows that you care about accuracy.
@JohnDavies-cn3ro Yeah for sure! I'm not perfect and always strive to fix anything that was wrong. Thanks John 👊
And the war was not still going in the 1890's.
