This is amazing! Microsoft should add the other ships from the games (the Saber, the Hornet, the Wasp and the Suborbital Bomber) and the others that appear in the tv series also!
Oh I think a few other simmers might not be happy with a full take over even if that would be cool. I think this one was mostly for the promotion of other Microsoft games
YES, would love to see what a Phantom is like and all that stuff. Nothing from the TV series though, that thing deserves to die and be forgotten for all time

This thing is very fun to fly and handles really well. It's actually the main reason I installed FS2020, just to fly it. Too bad that you can't lock a 'hog or a Scorpion onto the rear hardpoint and carry them around.

I have msfs on xbox and play it occasionally, the fact that you can fly the pelican (tried and failed), i want to try again and also you can have halo sound track?!. You sir have brightened my day
It is awesome with the music playing. Reminds me of when I played Halo when it first came out.
The camera button on the pfd will also work once you are in the air

Speaking from an old fart's perspective, who just wants to go and look at stuff (I did the real pilot stuff when I was much younger, and got my rotary Royal Navy Wings, but am not now interested in replicating the onerous rules that go with actual flying!), the Pelican is really handy. It is fast, so you can whiz around a large area with ease in Flight Mode, and it also hovers really easily. You can also pole it around in hover mode too over a local area just fine, probably faster than in a light aircraft. The Pelican also allows you to get up close to things like the Pyramids. OK, I know you can use a Camera, but this is better because it's an aircraft/ship. The MSFS helicopters have yet to appear, and the ones that are around via the Community are a bit of a handful to hover unless you have VR or multiple monitors (to get a little of the key peripheral vision needed to get a feel for movement when hovering). The Pelican is therefore a great addition I think, because it flies like a jet, but hovers well too.

The camera view only works after you are airborne...lots of fun !

@@BrettPlays ; The camera view also helps a ton with landing since you can't look down. You can angle the camera to look down for you, turns itself off about 10-20ft from the ground/terrain.
@@Hexfury oh now that would be cool to use, thanks I will use it when I fly it. Thinking I might also do a stream in this ship and see how many others I can get coming along for the flight.

I cant turn it when in hover mode. Controls are default on my Logitech Extreme 3D pro. Rudder axis is set to twisting the stick. Seems to work with the helicopter drone thing in the game, just not this. It even makes the little wings twist/turn like they're supposed to, but the pelican doesnt turn itself. any ideas?
Same here....no one seems to understand and keep saying to move rudders...We know that! Its just not working!
Uninstalled twice already....Maybe have to try full wipe of msfs2020
I have both my rudders and wheel steering set to my flight stick twist. I am not sure if that makes a difference. I do know that after last update the rudders auto reset almost immediately to centre and I have to keep twisting a lot. I read it is a known fault atm but I have not figured a way around it yet. So I just keep moving the rudder to get mine to register.
@@BrettPlays Unfortunately for us everything moves with zero heading change. Only in hover mode and only the pelican
Same here, I play on Xbox. Started today and thought I was doing something wrong but It seems I am not the only One Who cannot steer in hover mode

I remember first flying this on controller, and I had no idea what to do. I was just hovering and spinning like a top 🤣. I have since played quite a bit more, but not yet with the Pelican. Thanks to your video, I know a lot of functions I can try out, and truly enjoy flying this gem!

how do i descend to land on xbox? i hold B to descend but it just wants to go up.

@@BrettPlays it turns out that I had to disable Anti-stall assist for it to work. it was thinking my airspeed is too low, and it would kick the engines back up

The problem I'm having is that my thrust keeps getting stuck in full forward when I go back into hover mode from normal flight mode
In hover mode full forward is usually achieved with pitch down on the yoke. If you want to decened you would need to use throttle down. If you have a HOTAS it is easy to see how it flies forward, back, left & right pending how the flight stick is moved the same while in hover mode.
@@BrettPlays that's the issue I'm having with my HOTAS 1. It's like it's stuck in afterburner regardless of if I throttle back. Even if I physically look at the controls and use a controller to throttle down it goes right back to full afterburner
@@docnolan1986 sounds like a conflict with controls, do you have anything else set to throttle
@@BrettPlays not that I'm aware of, but I am on console so that may play into it
For me its that when I decrease the throttle, it'll go back up

Anyone know if there is a speed brake on the Pelican? Was flying the other day, had the rear doors open. Was doing 350 knots, had to slow down for landing. Hit hover and all my passengers came flying into the cockpit! Need a speed brake.
I don't ever remember trying a speed brake (spoilers). I might have to check again.

It's on my game pass.. and I kinda wanna fly the pelican. I'll def say this got me interested in this game.
yeah it is fun flying it on real world environment.
I like it better when the pelican tilts and stuff when it hovers in the halo games instead of completely stiff
Yeah i don't think the sim has the right flight settings for it to do that yet. Would be cool though

It still shows up in the marketplace for me, look for Aircraft and press SEE ALL. It is under jets
yo can somebody please help me, im using the logitech wingman force feedback and i cant seem to pitch the pelicans nose. is there something im doing wrong? please help SOS
Are you in hover mode or flight mode, your nose won't pitch when in hover mode
@@BrettPlays i tried it in cruise but all it did was point my nose straight down, i also cant accelerate forward. its probably my controls, that menu is so confusing
Apparently the camera only works while in flight.

Mode the throttle keeps going up automatically when I’m pulling it down

Btw all controls are wrong power controls are in left hand right hand has direction controls, if you see halo tv chief flying it , this fake microsoft pelican is totally wrong, but expected when microsoft does this is totally consistently microsoft has no clue, saw other aircraft, i am nato rated to fly over 344 aircraft including china and Russian. Yes the real world is not a game, enjoyable.

Hello what do you have to map the button to so you can open the cargo door with just a button on a controller or keyboard
For example to change from horizontal to vertical flight you map the afterburner control to your chosen buttons
there does not appear to be a button mappable for that function, it seems to be a custom switch. I use the mouse to press it but that is all I can find to do it. If anyone else has an answer definitely put it here.

Does this have a NAV mode?
It has the buttons for it but I have not successfully had mine to follow my flight plan. I can use heading follow and alt hold comes on but it does not hold it well
Nice video. Tried it out. It's just not for me and my style of simming.
And the good thing is that you can now uninstall it and if anyone uses it you will only see the default Bonanza style aircraft

For the inside doors there is a keypad on the wall, use your mouse to press them. For the rear door it is in front of the pilot like I showed, top right area 2 rows of buttons it is the bottom right of those buttons. Hope that helps you.

The four indications for the engine monitors on the center MFD I think indicate Engine RPM?.

Why my Pelican in hover mode the rudder does't work
not sure why some do and some do not. Are you on xbox or using an xbox controller?
@@BrettPlaysI'm on pc and i'm using an xbox controller.I can see the engine is rolling but the pelican does't change direction.
@@MarsStarshipCaptain it also works if you use your keyboard numpad 0 and enter keys. At least mine does too.
Did not try that. I just start at runway for a couple of test flights. It starts off all good but when I switch from flight to hover that’s when it goes all haywire.
Hmm.. I might check what throttle settings I'm using. I have 2 profiles for throttle as some planes require a different setting.

Pc. Logitech x56. Soon as I add power either way the power just jumps all over the place. Even on keyboard it does the same thing

oh never had that issue, check that you don't have any assistances set on that might do that.

The Camera mode and the Angle you can use/change when you are in the air.
Doesn't work while you are at ground level

It's a lot like the scramjet camera for the Maverick Super jet (I forgot the name 😂) can pitch to 90° and look straight down and jist gives you a satellite image.

I use the rudders by twisting my flight stick on my HOTAS

@@BrettPlays It was glitched for me for awhile, but it eventually started working after a random update after the power to my house went out lol. P.S. How do I fix its insatiable urge to go vertical as soon as I stop pointing the nose down? I know about trimming, but as a mega noob I can't figure out how to do it in the Pelican.
Kinda disappointed by this as an official relase. In VTOL the engines don't angle down, the take off looked very jerky and unrealistic. There just didn't seem to be much care and passion put into the flight model for this thing, even if its a fictional vehicle.
I would guess that may also be sim limitations for flight. Will have to see if when helicopters are implemented the flight systems fly smoother.
