For me, the magic of a full breakfast is not the individual components but how well they all work together. One mouthful with rashers, black pudding, egg. The next with toast, beans, and mushroom. And so on ad finitum. But you've really got to use a knife to create that kind of magic. The lack of knife here held you back.

The beans have to be eaten after you've taken a bite of hash browns or some toast bread with egg. Sausage is ok to have on its own. The bacon rashers should probably be paired with the egg and had on a bit of toast and then you might want to cleanse your pallet with a scoop of beans. This is what a full breakfast should look like: 2 eggs (cooked the way you like them), bacon, pork sausage links, hash brown (not preformed garbage), toast, and either waffles or pancakes. I think beans other than in chili is disgusting. I know I'm not alone in this feeling. Whenever I travel and stay in hotels with full breakfast buffet, the one thing that's almost left alone are beans.

Or a fillet of beer battered cod, it's not a rainbow of flavours because it's fish but a solid piece of fish will be rich and crunchy. Hash browns aren't a British invention but bubble and squeak has got plenty going on. And yes it originates from India but British curry is strong on its own, though milder than the likes of a Madras. Our pastries are far from bland, just try a Cornish pasty or a steak bake. Sunday dinners are about the only thing bland I can think of that we eat. Compared to Asia, all European cuisine is bland, but France gets praised for its food. At least British food isn't all full of butter and cheese (as good as our cheeses are)

What I would say, is a breakfast this size is generally eaten on a weekend and usually accompanying a hangover. You'd then either try and get out and walk some of it off (potentially to a pub) or just back home and spend the day not doing much.
Some people may eat a smaller version of this before work, but mainly manual labourers I would say, I personally could never eat this and then go sit at an office, I'd be asleep by 10am...

As for eating a full English a lot people tend to mix bits in combinations they like. For example I like having eggs and beans on the plate but try and keep them apart. Bacon and or sausage with beans/ egg, bacon, toast/ tomato and bacon/ black pudding and beans etc.
Traditionally a working mans breakfast more common would be the paired back 'fry up'. Both are great hangover cures. If you get the chance try it in a gresy spoon cafe (with fried bread)

Bubble and Squeak is great but more common for breakfast on Monday morning since it uses leftovers of the Sunday roast, not usually part of a Full English which is usually consumed on the weekend (unless you're a builder who eats it every day because you need tons of calories).
I would always go for an English breakfast over an American breakfast. Cheese is not needed, but you could always have the other classic English breakfast if you want cheese: Cheese on toast with Worcestershire sauce.
One thing missing from your Full English was a fried slice (a piece of toast fried in the oil used to cook the other ingredients). Other than that, this was awesome.

If you travel as far as Hull you need to try a pattie from a chippy, they are amazing, and come in several varieties, also try the chips with chip spice, it's the norm up there and they might not even ask before putting it on. You might get a patty in London, they're also called savories but I've been to chippies around most of the UK and very few serve them. Also if you can find a chippy that still cooks in beef dripping, the chips are on another level.

To make a black pudding, you cook blood mixed with a filler (oatmeal) until it is thick enough to congeal when cooled and because of this, black pudding is one of those things people either love or hate. No no no. You basically telling him to go to a place with cheaper and lower quality ingredients. Having a high quality sausage and decent bacon totally elevates the breakfast. You cannot get these in an average cafe. They get their sausages for crappy wholesalers and the bacon is just water logged rubbish.
Hashbrowns are a recent addition to the Full english but are valid.
To have proper British food you need to stay in London to ensure proper quality. That's were 90% of the best restaurants and markets are in the country, I'm from the north and I've lived in Midlands and London. For food quality its way way higher in london as there is more of a restaurant eating out culture plus it has way superior deliveroo uber eats choices so the average Londoner has tried a wider variety of higher quality food and inevitably will have a superior palette.

I love baked beans. We used to eat them with hot dogs cut up for dinner, growing up! 😊😉.

You should try a Scottish breakfast now. They have square sausage, stornoway black pudding (aka blood pudding), fruit pudding, and potato scone on theirs.

With Greggs definitely get both a regular sausage roll, a vegan sausage roll, a meat pasty, pepperoni pizza and a dessert like a donut

Extortionate London prices + He probably went to an expensive place too.
Can get all this from anywhere between £5 to £20 depending on what you get and where you go.
