    I purchased my 2020 Ioniq PHEV in Sept of 2020. I have the preferred model which differs from the 2021 model as there were only two levels when I got mine now there are 3. I love the Harmon Kardon stereo unit in mine that is now only available on the Ultimate model. This car is fantastic, I have had no issues and the service I get at Brantford Hyundai has been great. I travel to Cambridge each day for a 80km round trip and I am getting 1900 km per tankful and 6 weeks in between fill-ups. I use a 220 Volt charger and it takes 2.5 hours each night to fully charge the battery. If you are looking at PHEV's give this one a try you won't be disappointed.

    Love my Ioniq.
    I went full electric though after owning a Volt PHEV, which I avg 1.6 L/100kms over 60,000kms.
    Highly recommend an Ioniq, can’t beat the warranty!

      Yeah, a co-worker of mine who owns an EV was talking about EV's vs. PHEV's and the pro's and con's of each in today's current conditions (things may change in the future) I have considered PHEV's and ended up buying an EV because I have a gasoline vehicle as a secondary vehicle, and I'll never face the inconveniences of having to road trip with longer charging times. He has an EV and a gasoline car, and they're considering moving to a single vehicle. A PHEV would do everything they need, and also allow most of his daily driving to be purely electric. It's nice to have options. In my case, I wanted to eliminate maintaining two gasoline engines, and 90 percent of our everyday driving is done in the EV. So my overall fuel savings is huge. For him a PHEV means that they have no range limitations, and his overall fuel costs will likely be less than mine.

    As always, great job! Just wondering. What is the size of the cargo trunk with the back seats folded? Can't seem to find this info anywhere. I know if the back seats are up it's about 23 cubic ft.

    • @BrantfordKia
      @BrantfordKia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's interesting. I just checked my internal information (it's listed in litres because we're Canadian.) The Cargo volume is listed as 650 litres (down from 750 from the regular Ioniq, and then it just shows Passenger Volume (2724 litres - Identical between PHEV, EV and Hybrid) and then "Total" which is listed as 3474 litres, which is just the trunk and passenger volume added together. Unfortunately that's the clearest information that I have.

    I know the elantra N just got released yesterday but by any chance would you know when it will come out in ontario?

    • @BrantfordKia
      @BrantfordKia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hyundai Canada showed it on their social media feeds, so that tells me that it's coming. As far as a release date, I don't have that yet, but I'll continue to follow it up, and I'll definitely do a video of it. I had the 2022 Veloster N before Hyundai Canada even put it on their website, so feel free to subscribe and I'll get you information as soon as I can.

    I chuckle every time I see a Hyundai Ioniq. Went to a dealer for a new hatchback. Salesman had no clue 2019 Elantra GT existed and told me only seniors buy Accent hatchbacks - refused to get me one to test drive. He didn't even suggest the Ioniq hybrid. After testing the 2019 Elantra sedan, I left unimpressed by his lack of knowledge & effort to sell me a hatchback. Couple weeks later, I became a happy KIA owner.

      It was during the 2019 year end clearance sale. The models in text were posted on a large poster display. 🤦
      I told him I test drove a 2020 KIA Forte5 & that it drives much better than the Hyundai. He asked.
      I was thinking if he doesn't mention Ioniq or Veloster I'm walking out. A hybrid at that price would be a good option.

    What is the advantage of the paddle shifters? Do you need to be in sport mode to use them?

    • @BrantfordKia
      @BrantfordKia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Paddle shifters allow you to choose your own gears and keep the car in the power-band. On an EV, the “paddle shifters” are regenerative braking paddles, and they increase the amount of recharging that the wheels bring to the battery when decelerating.

    Does the charger comes with the purchase of the vehicle, or we have to buy it separately?

  • @Legendofham
    @Legendofham 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The charger that comes with this car (level 1 -110V), can it be used in the rain? I can't find information whether the EVSE box (where the power indicator is shown) is safe to be used in the rain. Thanks!

    • @BrantfordKia
      @BrantfordKia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I know many of our customers who use these chargers in the rain, snow, and every other condition. I'm not sure of the level of water protection, but it's my understanding that you can use these in just about any reasonable condition. Check the owner's manual of the car to be sure that it will work for you, but as I say, many people are using these in all types of weather.

    • @BrantfordKia
      @BrantfordKia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oooh... I'm not sure... my gut says yes, but I haven't tried that. That may be the type of thing that you need to try your own golf clubs with at a local dealer. I'll see if I can find out, but I don't golf, so I'd have to borrow someone's clubs.

    I have a question: If I go on a long trip. A long long trip. I start with a full charge . . . ran 47 km, then the hybrid kicks in. The hybrid drives the car and charges the battery at the same time. How long a drive will it take to fully charge the battery again? ie at what mile post can i switch back to pure EV mode?

    • @BrantfordKia
      @BrantfordKia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So on a long trip, you're going to used the Electric range, and you don't want to charge by driving (you can do that in sport mode, but you'll use more fuel than what would make it worthwhile) So on the Kia or Hyundai PHEV models, when you run out of charge, you'll still be driving an ultra-efficient hybrid, and the car will still switch between gas and electric as it sees fit. You wouldn't likely put it in sport mode to charge because you would lose the efficiency advantage, and it would take a very long time to charge that way.

    How can I buy the Canadian heated steering wheel for my American Ioniq phev limited? It's darn cold 30-60 minutes across the border in NY state! I also want the European ventilated seats, kind of crazy Americans don't get those 2 options, when they have the open/blank buttons.

    • @BrantfordKia
      @BrantfordKia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure if they can just be added. There may be more than the button and wheel etc. I'm really not the expert on how to do things like that.

  • @eddiedevereoxford4995

    When you drive with AC or the heater on it's ALWAYS petrol. The petrol helps out both the electric engine and battery charge. When you accelerate the petrol joins the electric engine in powering the wheels. It doesn't run silent bc the petrol engine is invariably on

    Eventually the ev battery will lose power over time correct? when would it need to be replaced?

    • @BrantfordKia
      @BrantfordKia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The battery is designed to last the life of the vehicle. The vast majority of EV buyers will not be replacing their batteries over a 15 to 20 year ownership period.
