Concerto for Trombone Steven Bryant The University of Texas Wind Ensemble Joseph Alessi, trombone Jerry Junkin, conductor Live in Bates Recital Hall - Austin, Texas February 19, 2016
Beautiful new addition to the trombone repertory. Exceptional performance. Mr. Alessi is incredible as always. The ensemble is tops. Congrats to everyone.
And the audience could be heard humming the music stands as they left! The participants played all the right notes, but alas, no music was heard! Note to composer: should a melody occur to you, don’t hesitate to write it down! Joe was astonishing as usual!
Setting aside the fact that music doesn’t need to have a melody, there is indeed melodic material that is shared across all three movements. Even the composer mentions this in his program note. In other words, there is a melody; you just chose not to listen for one.

Wow... this is one of the most amazing live performance by Joe Alessi I’ve ever heard
Bravo… I would kill to have been there live. This is just pure magic of a piece and performance. Perfection incarnate 🙌
Great Piece!!

9:39. A pedal Eb. Are you kidding me?
Was quiet but you could understand it.
Cmon it's not that hard you have a quart valve
Trying to figure out why there were saxophone players in the video but there are no sax parts in this piece 😂 Joe is amazing as always though!
There aren’t any saxophone players in the video lol
