"Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love" is my favorite VH song! I was 19 when their debut album was released in 1978. The one and only time I saw VH live was in '78 in San Diego on a Sunday night when they opened for Black Sabbath. They were so energetic and fun. When Sabbath took the stage, the audience was too hyped up to get into it. I remember Ozzy screaming something like, "It's fucking Sunday! Come on!" An awesome rock memory from this old school hippie chick🐥 ✌😽

I saw them live in London in 1978, supporting Black Sabbath. Most of us had not heard of them. These four guys appeared on stage, dressed in jeans and t-shirts and absolutely blew the roof off the Hammersmith Odeon. In fact, they were so loud to start with, we couldn't hear them in such a small venue. Then, someone came over and said, "if you go into the toilets, you can hear them clearly". So, we all crowded into the toilets. Security came and asked us why we were in there, like it was the worst drug deal in the world going down or something. We told them and they asked Van Halen to turn it down a bit. Then, we saw what they were really made of. Unforgettable.

The drummer is an absolute beast who is overshadowed by the guitarist. They happen to be brothers Eddie Van Halen on guitar and Alex Van Halen on drums. Alex is easily a top-five top 10 all-time rock drummers and in the early 80s the year end review magazines when they did the best of it was always either one or two between Alex van Halen and Neil Peart from rush!! Alex is so underrated. In any other band he would be the star member but do you happen to have a little brother that was a guitar virtuoso

Supposedly, this was Eddie and Dave's shout-out to first wave punk at the time. Since punks didn't sing love songs like other rock bands, they "ain't talkin' 'bout love." And since punk songs are simple, Eddie got by on this track alternating just between an open A chord and an open G chord. But of course, being Eddie Van Halen, he found a way to make a two-chord song sound amazing.

I am old, saw Van Halen in 76- 77 on the Sunset Strip, magic mountain, backyard parties with 500 people, then I saw them on the BIG STAGE
78 79 80 81 82 84 MTV videos, US festival, I saw that little band from Pasadena become KINGS OF THE HARD ROCK WORLD, right before my eyes...i grew up in the 70's hearing about "i saw jim morrison, or i saw hendrix".... I saw Teenage Guitar God Edward Van Halen , blast his way to the top with HARD WORK AND DEDICATION.. Van Halen spent 5 years playing anyplace , anytime 7 days a week and grinded like animals.....I remember buying my local bands 1st album and getting goosebumps , like OMG MY BOYS SOUND LIKE THE BIG BOYS.. we could not believe the way they sounded on a record,... we were shocked !!!! look at the Cover !! lol " They look fuckin ROCKIN"
almost like a local boxer you see fighting in cheap tents locally, sayin, " that dude is badass, " going to more of his local fights, cheering as he gets better and better, Then, you see him on TV, and everybody is cheering at the local pubs, Then he hits World Championships, multiple Belts, Magazines, huge pay per view world famous , Top of the mountain, thats how we felt About Van Halen, the Soundtrack to my teens, and a generation of teens in the 80's, was a band I saw as a kid down the Block. RIP EDWARD

Hey Jay Rah, A Definitive Van Halen cut, they rock and always will. Van Halen's 1st album, VH1, was what it's all about when it comes to rock. Eddie will be missed, he is with the Father now, not so bad. I like the intro, outro. The image of the album art on the green screen is nice, your channel is evolving, sweet. Jay, I'm a 60 year old simple white dude, nothing special, who was not raised to see "color", as it were. During the height of the civil rights movement, around 1967, when my Twin and I were 7, after June 10th, our best friend was a young African American, our age, named Tony, never forgot him. He was welcomed at our Grandma's house who lived in Seattle, Washington, state, and, we were welcomed in his home as well. It it still a fond memory I will cherish till I pass, which could be sooner than I think, as I just had, no joke, 12 little heart attacks and a Stent installed. Doing good, resting up as this was only last week, starting on the 13th. Be good, love and forgive other's and yourself, if need be. All the best from Oregon, C.

Jay Rah, you may remember rapper Tone Loc. He put out a song called Wild Thing in 1989. On Wild Thing the main hook riff is a sample of Eddie and Alex from the song Jamie's Crying off this album. Eddie never was asked permission or paid. When he heard the tune on the radio and heard his guitar and Alex's drums. He phoned the label and said 'You could have at least thanked us'!
    Which they hadn't.

Eddie Van Halen built his owen guitar out of several other guitars it was nicknamed Franknstrat. He rewired his guitar pick ups for sound he also tricked out his guitar so it wouldn't go out of tune while he played it. Eddie couldn't afford pedals so he had to lurn to create the sound others would been able to with the help of equipment he also rebuild his amps for a sound difference and developed a style of playing so he could be unique 😉
