I’m wondering by the second of static just after it goes black (which analogue TVs would display if not tuned in) and the sound at the beginning of the breakdown slide also being full of static that this was caused by a signal loss somewhere?
It appears the video signal might have leaked onto the audio OR the audio was not plugged in correctly OOOOR the TV was faulty too. OR (yes, a fourth or.) the VCR was faulty too.
I Think there was some form of Power cut or loss for more then one reason 1) The Film just dropped 2) You see about 5-10 seconds after the power off drop 3) The Sketchy Transmission on Andy Talking at the start 4) The loss of sound

Breakdowns are so rare these days. Back in the 80s when I was a kid, it seemed to happen quite frequently.
I know what you mean. A good breakdown livened up a boring afternoon's or evening's viewing :).
Love that the first dialogue after the sound comes back was "I guess he ain't heard the news!"

BBC1 Wales were very lucky because they showed this film at 1:20am. No problem for Welsh viewers.

@@babychickenstudios it was some issue because after it went to the breakdown caption and no music but the test tone. That all I know.

Well no sound when we rejoin the film should have shown the film again when there was nothing to show on another night.
