Everything about shadow is on point. His presentation, design, movements, backstory, Keanu's voice, and him doing the Akira slide is iconic. They couldn't have done him better.

I just now realized that the music in the first part of the trailer is Green Hill Zone except slowed down and edgier. If they somehow combined Green Hill Zone and Live and Learn that would be so cool.

The director of Sonic 3 started his career working on the cutscenes and animation for the shadow the hedgehog video game. I think the character Shadow is in very good hands.

I have the personal theory that if they do a fourth movie, Metal Sonic will be the main villain in that (If Jim Carrey decides that he's done after the third movie then they could just have it that Eggman dies in the third and that he was working on Metal Sonic in secret between the second and third movie, he just needed another quill from Sonic to complete it which is why he asks for it in this trailer)

Jim Carrey's "presence" is just the fact that he always looks like he's having a good time. In a way, he over-acts so much it's barely believable, but he's still having fun with it.

If its the former I can’t say cause I don’t know Aquaman very well , but if it’s the later you’re referring too, no fans pretty much universally love it. the tragedy of the event and how it plays the big effect on who shadow is as a character, and thus is highly regarded by the fanbase because he’s arguably the most liked sonic character besides sonic himself.

The second movie took some of the plot points from Sonic 3 & Knuckles while still telling its own story. This seems to be the same thing for Sonic Adventure 2.
When shadow turn Knuckles's knuckle , you need to remember he's doing it at lightspeed and when he is throwing a punch so his arms is stiff. It really hurts.
I love that Eric, who hasn't even played the games, has a full body reaction to how good the music is! They were playing a remix of Live and Learn, which is one of the fanbase's favourite songs from the series, and people have been BEGGING them to actually use Sonic music in this one, unlike the first two.
We will not forget that you guys said Sonic 2 was one of the worst movies you’ve ever seen, even though you all clearly enjoyed it in the reaction. The first one was great, the second was even better, and the third looks to be dope af too.
Eric isn't wrong about the wedding stuff, but at the same time A) It sets up GUN and B) you're right, the reaction doesn't match the final verdict at all. It's not a big thing, but it sticks out like a sore thumb.

sonic games, especially the older ones, can get surprisingly dark. and shadow's origin is from one of those darker games, sonic adventure 2. so it's going to be interesting to see how they translate that to film, they wouldn't get it under pg-13 if they kept it the same so we'll see how much they censor.
The biomechanics of the twist thing make sense, you were just applying it to yourself wrong subconsciously. In your demonstration you were rotating your arm whereas Shadow rotated Knuckle's wrist. Which if you hold your arm out, keep it stiff like you would in a punch and try to rotate your fist at the wrist instead, you'll notice it wont move very far as the wrist is designed to pivot up and down and side to side, not rotate. So essentially, Shadow just shattered Knuckle's wrist bones by twisting it with enough force to get his fist vertical while his arm stayed horizontal.
Shadow has possibly the darkest story in the whole Sonic franchise. I hope this movie does him justice. Frankly I think they should've made this movie pg-13, but if it goes well, y'all are in for a TREAT. Also no surprise y'all don't recognize Gerald Robotnik. For the record though, he is NOT suppose to be alive. I'm really hoping the movie does some kinda time travel, and that's the reason Robotnik meets him. Gerald Robotnik is Robotnik's grandfather, and plays a VERY important role in Shadow's story.
This movie will be really brave if it has the balls to do some of the stuff in shadows backstory. Like a live fire execution squad and shooting a child.
You REALLY wanna know why Sonic’s universe has such a dedicated fanbase?… Look no further than the Pixar quality intro cutscenes to Sonic CD & Sonic Unleashed; the spectacular history and QUALITY level design present in Sonic Generations, Sonic Mania, and Sonic 3&Knuckles; and finally the HIGHLY anticipated Shadow Generations game coming out this fall which features lore-heavy, blockbuster anime quality prologue cutscenes that are unfortunately exclusive to Ps5 on consoles but they’ll be free on TH-cam so who cares? Need I even mention that Sonic’s character designs are objectively better than 99% of all character designs ever due to their near-perfectly recognizable silhouettes, instant marketability, and appeal of both Dragon Ball Z and Disney fused into one? Need I mention the 30+ years of video game music albums that are OBJECTIVELY better than any other video game franchise besides Mario, Zelda, Pokemon and Xenoblade. Yes, you heard me right, and if you disagree then I *dare* you to prove me wrong. My point is that the Sonic franchise has VERY WELL EARNED its place in the mainstream world, because at his best Sonic is Mario if it had a heap of substance inspired by shonen anime and rubber hose cartoons. You literally CAN’T find another franchise that offers the same experiences Sonic does. That’s why he’s my favorite fictional character PERIOD, and I’m proud of how far he’s come to prove all the ignorant, gaming journalistic, false narratives wrong. Sonic The Hedgehog is, without a doubt, one of the most fascinating and complex intellectual properties the world has ever known, and not a word of that was hyperbole. It’s about damn time my favorite franchise got the recognition it deserves. If your heart’s been touched by the once hidden gem that is the Sonic franchise then *you know* what I’m saying is true. I mean no offense, but if you only watch these live-action Hollywood, very loosly adapted movies then you’re missing out since the movies released thus far have only scratched the surface of what makes the Sonic IP as a whole such a juggernaut success with each new generation of people regardless of whether Sega treats it right or not. That in and of itself is a testament to just how GREAT Sonic (even just as a concept) truly is. It’s SOOO under appreciated in the gaming space and has been ever since 2006. So the thing is, for those who haven’t played Sonic Adventure 2 (Dreamcast), FUCKING HELL all of that is just completely canon and accurate, and I just love it! “Team sonic”, the team up with Robotnik, chaos control (I hope we’ll hear Shadow say it…), even the first encounter in the city on the destroyed car is how SA2 starts (people thought it was Sonic so the beginning of the game is you running away from the cops, basically). The ARK lifting off the water. And Gerald Robotnik, grandfather of Eggman, Maria (the woman Shadow grew up with). Oh man. OHMAN!! They did an excellent job in the first two games in terms of lore, but here, it’s going to be a masterpiece.

The Sonic movies are my guilty pleasure. I'm not a big video game or superhero guy but for some reason really enjoyed the first 2. I'm also really happy Jim Carrey is back as Dr. Robotnik.
I hope this movie is good enough to win back all the people they lost with Wedding Scenes and Wade Wipple..... but that's assuming anyone has learned anything
To be fair, the wedding scene served a purpose even if it went on way too long (I still don't know it needed to be that long) and the Knuckles show had different writers to the movies. Otherwise I agree yeah they gotta bring their A-Game for this one.

I LOVED sonic as kid. I still play the games for some nostalgia. I get WHY they went with "Sonic in the real world" but man do I wish they went the Mario Movie route and went full Pixar. Every film has a human subplot that i check out on. But I respect the writers and directors for giving all actors something to do. and Jim Carrey is saving grace for the humans characters as well as his sidekick haha I'm excited for the film!

Consider they slow the movement of Shadow and Knuckles way down, and then Shadow twists his wrist at what appears to be normal speed, but must be in actuality at least 3-4x speed. Next make your hand into a fist and brace like you are about to punch someone. Now use your left hand and try to twist your right fist. You will feel resistance to that twist. Now imagine if someone overcame that resistance by twisting your braced fist to the right at 4x normal speed?
I’m a teen who’s been a Sonic fan since I was 6, and I’m shocked that Gerald’s alive in this movie-He was dead the whole game and was only seen in flashbacks. And they’re doing Shadow’s backstory??? Because I saw Maria! Damn, this movie definitely is going to be dark as hell. In order to avoid the PG 13 rating, they’re gonna have to do the Sonic X version of Shadow’s backstory. Super hyped though!! Hopefully they tease Rouge and Omega because they’re Shadow’s friends.

@@appledough3843 Correct. In the games, Shadow's story begins 50 years prior to the present, and this seems to be the case here as well (the post-credit scene from the second movie states that the files relating to Project Shadow date from 50 years ago).

This movie is adapting Sonic Adventure 2, which is considered by a majority of fans to arguably, be one of, if not the GREATEST Sonic game of all time, which is in part due to the story. (Shadow's backstory in particular, is **very** dark for a game where you could also raise cute little creatures called Chao.)
Jeff Fowler, the director of the Sonic movies, actually worked on the cutscenes for 2005's Shadow the Hedgehog (some of Shadow's moves in here are ripped STRAIGHT from the opening cutscene), which goes into more of his backstory from SA2. So believe me when I say that this movie's likely going to be absolutely worth it, Blind Wave crew.

Totally worth the wait. Keanu sounds perfect as Shadow, I love how different the tone is from the other movies to match the SA2 lore, and the reveal that Gerald's alive is insane.

The director of Sonic 3 started his career working on the cutscenes and animation for the shadow the hedgehog video game. I think the character Shadow is in very good hands.

If its the former I can’t say cause I don’t know Aquaman very well , but if it’s the later you’re referring too, no fans pretty much universally love it. the tragedy of the event and how it plays the big effect on who shadow is as a character, and thus is highly regarded by the fanbase because he’s arguably the most liked sonic character besides sonic himself.
I was literally checking the channel a few mins before for this reaction thinking I had missed it and low and behold it appears in my feed - what timing!
The second movie took some of the plot points from Sonic 3 & Knuckles while still telling its own story. This seems to be the same thing for Sonic Adventure 2.
When shadow turn Knuckles's knuckle , you need to remember he's doing it at lightspeed and when he is throwing a punch so his arms is stiff. It really hurts.
After “phantom Liberty” I’m hyped to see Idris and Keanu work together again.

I enjoyed the sonic films more than the recent mario one.
I love that Eric, who hasn't even played the games, has a full body reaction to how good the music is! They were playing a remix of Live and Learn, which is one of the fanbase's favourite songs from the series, and people have been BEGGING them to actually use Sonic music in this one, unlike the first two.

The first one was great, the second was even better, and the third looks to be dope af too.
Eric isn't wrong about the wedding stuff, but at the same time A) It sets up GUN and B) you're right, the reaction doesn't match the final verdict at all. It's not a big thing, but it sticks out like a sore thumb.

sonic games, especially the older ones, can get surprisingly dark. and shadow's origin is from one of those darker games, sonic adventure 2. so it's going to be interesting to see how they translate that to film, they wouldn't get it under pg-13 if they kept it the same so we'll see how much they censor.
Keanu turned down a major role in Star Wars: The Acolyte for Shadow the hedgehog, good choice.
The biomechanics of the twist thing make sense, you were just applying it to yourself wrong subconsciously. In your demonstration you were rotating your arm whereas Shadow rotated Knuckle's wrist. Which if you hold your arm out, keep it stiff like you would in a punch and try to rotate your fist at the wrist instead, you'll notice it wont move very far as the wrist is designed to pivot up and down and side to side, not rotate. So essentially, Shadow just shattered Knuckle's wrist bones by twisting it with enough force to get his fist vertical while his arm stayed horizontal.
Shadow has possibly the darkest story in the whole Sonic franchise. I hope this movie does him justice. Frankly I think they should've made this movie pg-13, but if it goes well, y'all are in for a TREAT.
Also no surprise y'all don't recognize Gerald Robotnik. For the record though, he is NOT suppose to be alive. I'm really hoping the movie does some kinda time travel, and that's the reason Robotnik meets him.
Gerald Robotnik is Robotnik's grandfather, and plays a VERY important role in Shadow's story.

You REALLY wanna know why Sonic’s universe has such a dedicated fanbase?…
Look no further than the Pixar quality intro cutscenes to Sonic CD & Sonic Unleashed; the spectacular history and QUALITY level design present in Sonic Generations, Sonic Mania, and Sonic 3&Knuckles; and finally the HIGHLY anticipated Shadow Generations game coming out this fall which features lore-heavy, blockbuster anime quality prologue cutscenes that are unfortunately exclusive to Ps5 on consoles but they’ll be free on TH-cam so who cares?
Need I even mention that Sonic’s character designs are objectively better than 99% of all character designs ever due to their near-perfectly recognizable silhouettes, instant marketability, and appeal of both Dragon Ball Z and Disney fused into one? Need I mention the 30+ years of video game music albums that are OBJECTIVELY better than any other video game franchise besides Mario, Zelda, Pokemon and Xenoblade. Yes, you heard me right, and if you disagree then I *dare* you to prove me wrong.
My point is that the Sonic franchise has VERY WELL EARNED its place in the mainstream world, because at his best Sonic is Mario if it had a heap of substance inspired by shonen anime and rubber hose cartoons.
You literally CAN’T find another franchise that offers the same experiences Sonic does. That’s why he’s my favorite fictional character PERIOD, and I’m proud of how far he’s come to prove all the ignorant, gaming journalistic, false narratives wrong.
Sonic The Hedgehog is, without a doubt, one of the most fascinating and complex intellectual properties the world has ever known, and not a word of that was hyperbole. It’s about damn time my favorite franchise got the recognition it deserves.
If your heart’s been touched by the once hidden gem that is the Sonic franchise then *you know* what I’m saying is true.
I mean no offense, but if you only watch these live-action Hollywood, very loosly adapted movies then you’re missing out since the movies released thus far have only scratched the surface of what makes the Sonic IP as a whole such a juggernaut success with each new generation of people regardless of whether Sega treats it right or not.
That in and of itself is a testament to just how GREAT Sonic (even just as a concept) truly is. It’s SOOO under appreciated in the gaming space and has been ever since 2006.
I’m so relieved and glad that the bad times are over and the general public are FINALLY beginning to recognize that Sonic is more than a pile of memes and presumably “bad” games.
He’s worth *SO* much more than that and the economy agrees. If I were the CEO of paramount I would’ve bought the rights to Sonic without hesitation too. It’s an endless money printer.

Ow The Edge has arrived
So the thing is, for those who haven’t played Sonic Adventure 2 (Dreamcast), FUCKING HELL all of that is just completely canon and accurate, and I just love it! “Team sonic”, the team up with Robotnik, chaos control (I hope we’ll hear Shadow say it…), even the first encounter in the city on the destroyed car is how SA2 starts (people thought it was Sonic so the beginning of the game is you running away from the cops, basically). The ARK lifting off the water. And Gerald Robotnik, grandfather of Eggman, Maria (the woman Shadow grew up with). Oh man. OHMAN!! They did an excellent job in the first two games in terms of lore, but here, it’s going to be a masterpiece.
Gaara looks great....i mean Shadow. Sonic is basically Naruto and Shadow is gaara. "Shadow's story began a lot like yours sonic. Where you found family and friends, Shadow found only pain and loss". Literally naruto and gaara being Jinchuriki.

The Sonic movies are my guilty pleasure. I'm not a big video game or superhero guy but for some reason really enjoyed the first 2. I'm also really happy Jim Carrey is back as Dr. Robotnik.
I hope this movie is good enough to win back all the people they lost with Wedding Scenes and Wade Wipple..... but that's assuming anyone has learned anything
To be fair, the wedding scene served a purpose even if it went on way too long (I still don't know it needed to be that long) and the Knuckles show had different writers to the movies. Otherwise I agree yeah they gotta bring their A-Game for this one.

I LOVED sonic as kid. I still play the games for some nostalgia. I get WHY they went with "Sonic in the real world" but man do I wish they went the Mario Movie route and went full Pixar. Every film has a human subplot that i check out on. But I respect the writers and directors for giving all actors something to do. and Jim Carrey is saving grace for the humans characters as well as his sidekick haha I'm excited for the film!

Consider they slow the movement of Shadow and Knuckles way down, and then Shadow twists his wrist at what appears to be normal speed, but must be in actuality at least 3-4x speed. Next make your hand into a fist and brace like you are about to punch someone. Now use your left hand and try to twist your right fist. You will feel resistance to that twist. Now imagine if someone overcame that resistance by twisting your braced fist to the right at 4x normal speed?

I’m a teen who’s been a Sonic fan since I was 6, and I’m shocked that Gerald’s alive in this movie-He was dead the whole game and was only seen in flashbacks. And they’re doing Shadow’s backstory??? Because I saw Maria! Damn, this movie definitely is going to be dark as hell. In order to avoid the PG 13 rating, they’re gonna have to do the Sonic X version of Shadow’s backstory.
Super hyped though!! Hopefully they tease Rouge and Omega because they’re Shadow’s friends.
