GOVt caused this mess, a minimum wage indexed to inflation would be over 20 dollars an hour, thats not even including skyrocketing health, real estate, and educational prices over the decades. A teenager making 20 an hour would be laughable. Small business owners don't have a big stack of cash that they can reluctantly pay their employees if the wages go up. Most of them are on the razor's edge of failure as it is. Also, having a discussion about raising the minimum wage actually hurts low skill workers. We are on the cusp of a automated revolution. Large firms like mcdonalds are already replacing their staff with kiosks. Economies of scale will eventually make this technology affordable for "mom and pop" stores. Trying to raise the wage will only make business's throw even more money at these programs. We lost our industrial jobs because employees could be found cheaper over seas. Now we will lose our service jobs because robots will be cheaper than high school students. And they will have less acne. Nothing worse than getting a big Mac from some kid you just watched pop a zit on his neck.

One option is to just provide a unversal basic income, say 30 grand a year from the govt, no weird tax loopholes, whether you have kids or not, 30 grand and thats it. THE rest that want to work will work, it would weed out alot of people. this would also work better if politicians didnt accept contracts from corporations to sell out americans. washington state has an initiative to increase the minimum wage up to 13.5. GOVt caused this mess, a minimum wage indexed to inflation would be over 20 dollars an hour, thats not even including skyrocketing health, real estate, and educational prices over the decades. I can't vote yes or no, just avoiding the question.

Small business owners don't have a big stack of cash that they can reluctantly pay their employees if the wages go up. Most of them are on the razor's edge of failure as it is.
Also, having a discussion about raising the minimum wage actually hurts low skill workers. We are on the cusp of a automated revolution. Large firms like mcdonalds are already replacing their staff with kiosks.
Economies of scale will eventually make this technology affordable for "mom and pop" stores. Trying to raise the wage will only make business's throw even more money at these programs.
We lost our industrial jobs because employees could be found cheaper over seas. Now we will lose our service jobs because robots will be cheaper than high school students.
And they will have less acne. Nothing worse than getting a big Mac from some kid you just watched pop a zit on his neck.

SMAll business use to be 80 percent of our economy now it down to 35 percent. The reality is we live in an age of leisure, instead of driving to blockbuster spending 4 bux on a vhs, you can spend 10 a month to stream just about whatever you want. the biggest problem is govt is in the way with more and more taxes and regulations. THe us is literally bottlenecking most of its citizens from getting better paid jobs. One option is to just provide a unversal basic income, say 30 grand a year from the govt, no weird tax loopholes, whether you have kids or not, 30 grand and thats it. THE rest that want to work will work, it would weed out alot of people. this would also work better if politicians didnt accept contracts from corporations to sell out americans. Statism does no good and why we are in this mess.
