    Pirate trousers for the win!!! I love trousers with cool button plackets. I even made a fancy brocade pair of button up pants for my Witcher OC. (I've still yet to finish them, because they're missing 1 button lol). I'm loving the energy of this already. Much love 💜

    ahh yes pirates! i was a pirate last year for halloween but just used a cheap store bought costume. i’ve been thinking about redemption and this inspired me more. i love the vest… i may or may not need to add it to my everyday wardrobe

    Love how the pants turned out. The button fly look so perfectly old-timey 😍 I like pants that fit loose, too. Need the extra room for sticking lots of things in my pockets! Can't take any more of that "slim-fit" nonsense, I hate it when my phone is digging into my hip in pants that are tight around the hips - pleats for the win 😄

    I used the pirate costume to make the shirt and coat for my daughter many. She was cast as Captian Hook and wanted a fancy coat. It was my first project of this sort, and my first project this big that I fully lined, but it turned out rather well. We sized it up a bit to help her change quickly (she was also Mrs. Darling), and she can still fit into it.

    I used the Ines pattern recently, and I found it super helpful to watch the video in tandem with reading the instructions. I felt like I spent more time reading and re-reading the instructions than sewing at times, but I got it in the end. Didn't think to use a button fly, so thank you for the inspiration to revisit the pattern very soon!

    Love the corduroy pants! They're definitely achieving that adventurer / pirate look.
    This video will be super helpful for when I finally decide to make pants with a front enclosure. I usually make them with buttons on each side as the front buttons look intimidating.

    I love this! I want pants like that but I’m afraid that they wouldn’t work with my shape. Also, your tooth stuff takes me back to 2020 when I broke my front tooth on a popsicle right after every dentist in the area closed and we had just moved for my husband’s job so insurance hadn’t kicked in yet. I remember scrambling to find a dentist that would take emergencies after hours and not being able to bite anything for months. It was so frustrating. And I kept being afraid that my front tooth would fall out while waiting for my permanent implant. I was very grateful for masks during all that. And I was so happy when I finally had a permanent tooth again. Hang in there!!!

    I do think it makes sense for a commerial pattern to put the darts in when the vertical seams are done as hip shape varies a lot and waist seams are big enough that you can put them in the machine flat

    • @moth.faerie
      @moth.faerie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They wanted the darts down when the waist band went on so after all the side seams went in

    I wonder if the Etsy pattern said to put in the pleats and darts after the legs are sewn together to make it easier for fitting purposes? Like, it makes no sense from a construction point of view, especially if you've already made a mockup, but for a home sewist who's like NAH I don't need a mockup, then putting in darts and pleats once you can try it on and fiddle with fit kinda makes sense.

    • @moth.faerie
      @moth.faerie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yeah probably, tho i feel like it's just as easy to just measure the waist and compare it to your own waist? idk it is a very strange order of steps haha

      The mock-up for the dolman sleeve blouse looks like it may only be the one change, so improvement... I was honestly expecting to do multiple changes to the pattern. Yay. The pants are coming together this afternoon, but the paper trial is working well, so I have all hope (hopefully I didn't just jinx it, oh sewing gods both the old and the new).

    I love the fabrics you chose for the vest! The waves are such a cute and beautiful touch to peek out! Wow, the pants instructions really were weird...did you let her know? she may change her pattern and instructions due to your feedback. At least the vest seemed to be a lot easier and looks fantastic! Wa the pants cut out for a ra ge of sizes or a fixed size? If going on for example hip measurements the pleat ia made after because you pleate it down to right waist size. Me not sure I explained it good here. But loved the look on those plants

    So I've started sewing the pants pattern after watching your video cause pants being too big is good for me since I can never find pants that are big enough for me to put on. But then the pattern waist band was too big even though I measured according to the size according to the chart. So I had to do the alterations based on the finished garment measurements, so yeah this pattern is a mess 😅

  • @whypotatoes

    I just made pants with darts and I put them in before the waistband but after assembling bc I found it easier to figure out how big to make them to fit me perfectly. However, I wasn't following a pattern I was just winging it. Maybe it's in that order bc thats how they did it when creating the pattern and didn't think to change it

    I tried that same pattern for trousers and I found the instructions bonkers and the fit was just... bad. The picture looks cute but they also were weirdly baggy in the front and around the knees for me. I recommend any other trouser pattern tbh.
