Though please note that High altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE) (Fluid in Lungs) has nothing to do with the visit time. It can happen in January and in August as well, infact any month of the year. Its directly related to how better you acclimatize for high altitude. In winter the chances increase only because you always fly straight to Leh and then do not account for enough days of acclimatization in Leh.
How to tackle with HAPE

@@sanjugalande reduce altitude and get into hospital immediately, that's the only remedy. Getting a proper altitude acclimatization is way to reduce chances of HAPE
Absolutely right, The most important thing, you acclimatize in leh for 3 days at least before going above 12-13000 altitude. with in these 3 days you can try to visit near by places, do some hiking of 1-2kms. post this there won't be any problem.

Always you have to start the journey from high to low altitude and also give time for aclamatize. Even had been for ladakh trip from 10-20th of may. its better to start from srinagar

he took bath first day , which should be avoided as body is not habitual for this climate , that time it was very cold don’t worry just be prepared like carrry oxygen cans nd other things , don’t remove cap at any point , baki all the best sab acha hoga ♥️

the time you reach leh jus eat diamox 2 days, also take camphor along with you put in a cloth and smell it, eat garlic this will also help, and mail do acclimatize for atleast 2 days in leh, this is my experience during ladakh ride and it helped me alot
